They'll charge more for them than a regular one as evidenced by that TG-16 game that was originally released as two hu-cards.
Quit whining about arcade games. Each arcade board would have to be emulated and there's many more generations of arcade machines than there are consoles.

Mr. Munn's article, though absolutely true, suffers from one fundamental flaw: if we've gone through 100+ Virtual Console releases without a single compilation title released, it's highly unlikely to happen at any time in the Wii's life-span. I was amazed that Nintendo put out Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. as separate NES games on the Virtual Console (I own the Donkey Kong Classics cartridge), but that seems to be standard fare at this point. Too bad, because I'd love to pick up Tetris/Dr. Mario for SNES.

I totally agree regarding Super Mario All-Stars' inferior version of Super Mario Bros. I thought I was the only one that noticed the incorrect behavior when breaking bricks!

Frankly, I doubt we'll see "Mario All Stars" or Ninja Gaiden Collection released on the VC. As for "upgraded versions," I buy the old versions because those are the games I want to play. I play Tecmo Bowl because I want to play Tecmo Bowl. If they release Tecmo Superbowl...who cares. its not the classic I grew up with and wanted to play again. I dont demand upgrades and free bonuses. No one's entitled to that. Download a game because thats the game you want to play. If you dont want it, don't download it. If you want something else, wait for something else. Its as easy as that.

You can always delete a VC game you've dl'ed. Even though you won't get your money back, you're not forced to keep a game you bought on the Wii Shopping Channel.

I could imagine instead of Nintendo releasing Super Mario All-Stars, they would put out the upgraded versions, for the price of a normal SNES game, and if a compilation came out, it would probably be twice as much as a game on that system

I agree with everyone above that it will be highly unlikely to see compilation games grace the VC, at least not until downloads of the original standalone titles slow to the point that release of the compilation won't cannibalize sales. So then the question becomes, how long are you willing to hold off on purchasing (and therefore enjoying) a game simply to avoid repurchasing it later in a compilation or in an upgraded incarnation? Given the pace at which VC titles are being released, it could be years before we see a compilation.

Also, as much as I would love to see arcade games (other than Neo Geo) emulated on the VC, I question whether that will ever happen, much less within a reasonable time frame or at a reasonable price, for the same reason we aren't likely to see compilations. Publishers aren't that stupid. If they set a precedent of releasing the arcade version of a game shortly after releasing the inferior NES/SNES/Genesis/TG16 port, buyers will quickly learn not to buy the initial port. Thus, to minimize the loss of revenue, they would either have to wait a loooong time to release the arcade original and/or sell it with a high enough premium over the port to offset the loss in revenue from lost sales of the port.

Clearly it's just a bit tongue-in-cheek -- the point he's trying to make is that the Big N screwed over people who bought the (totally useless) SFII (not Turbo/Hyper/Championship) version by releasing the next in the series and making fans that want the upgrade pay again. I was in this situation, and it hurt a lot more when you had paid ~$40 for SFII and had to shell out the same thing again for Championship. I think I only rented Turbo when it came out (that's the one with T. Hawk et al, right?), I was so pissed at having bought both of the previous releases.

I love a lot of Capcom games, but I was sore over that one for a while -- I don't blame Mr. Munn one bit.

How can someone be pissed when a game is "upgraded?" If you liked the original game enough to buy it, then just enjoy it. The problem is people always want more and more. Do you get "pissed" every year when Madden comes out? Games are always going to get better and improved. You dont have to buy every version of every game. Be happy with what you have. It made you happy enough to buy it originally, so enjoy it.

I'm one of the (very) few that was lucky enough to not get screwed. I bought Turbo this week. James, T. Hawk, Cammy, DJ, and (who am I forgetting) aren't in Turbo. You get M. Bison, Vega, Balrog, and Sagot, but I don't remember if they were playable in the original or not.

I just saved the purchase cause I knew I wouldn't be happy without the Turbo speed - I'd figured I just would buy SF on the VC... then BAM!
