Leave it to the internets! The Hitman movie trailer that we mentioned will be running in front of Live Free or Die Hard (are we the only ones that still find that title a bit much?) has hit the web. Whattya think? It's a teaser trailer and doesn't show much, but it definitely looks to be true to the games. Plus it has the added bonus of Uwe Boll being completely unattached to it.
Check out the trailer over at film site JoBlo.com, and let us know what you think. Timothy Olyphant actually looks pretty decent as Agent 47, especially with that bald head and the barcode tattoo. Combine that with the Silverballer pistols and Ave Maria playing in the background and you get a promising look ... for now.
wow...looks really cool, though they used the "pull your arms to both sides and point your guns" thing a few too many times....still, it was a great trailer.
Never played the games so I know nothing about the story, so from the trailer alone it didn't look to impressive at all. I mean it had your usual explosion, your usual throw your arms out guns at each end bit, other than that it didn't say "you must watch this" to me at all.
here's to hoping they'll use the clothe swapping and grotte wire! didnt see any evidence of that in the trailer, was mostly guns and things blowing up! Bring on the cheese wire and knives!
Live Free or Die Hard is the US only name, in other territories they've gone for the better, but still stupid "Die Hard 4.0", why couldn't they have just gone with 4, it's not like they're going to release an incremental update anyway
After seeing the trailer, I agree Olyphant doesn't seem to fit the part, but they went to enough trouble and/or effort to make this appeal to fans of the series ... the music, the crossed arms, barcode, etc ... so who knows. Could be alright, dubious casting of 47 aside ... or it could be another video game to movie hack job. I actually give this one hope come October.
Think it looks great. I don't really have an opinion on Olyphant this way or the other, but there were no clear in your face action segements (Explosions don't mean anything), just Hitman doing what he does best.
Doesn't look like Olyphant is a good visual match for 47, though he can still rise to the occasion. Unfortunately, the rest of the trailer presents the film like a bog-standard morality play-driven textbook action flick, so that doesn't help either.
Here's to hoping that it becomes something a little more than that.
The problem so far is that as much as I like Olyphant in Deadwood this character and the Agent 47 from the game look like too different people. And I'm not just talking from physical appearance. I just mean mannerisms. I.E. I swear I saw him smile. Agent 47 is a stone cold emotionless hard-ass. He shouldn't smile ever.
Agent 47 was never the run and gun type. Sure he would gun down a bunch of folks if he had to but the games have always been about being a silent assassin. I know silently killing someone doesn't always make for a thrilling trailer but it can when done right. Look for the trailer for Contracts, that thing gave me chills.
He might not be the best visual match but I think Timothy Olyphant can turn in a good performance for the roll. Check out Deadwood to see the kind of violence he can dish out.
From the captions in the trailer, it looks like they are going to try and make agent 47 seem like some sort of saint, and only have him kill bad people.
I guess most of the marks in the game were not the purest of souls, but agent 47 is just a killer for hire, not some kind of rough-justice hero.
Dude, they didn't even make his eyes blue? I don't know, something looks funny with Olyphant. Too young a face maybe? I kept trying to find a different actor that would look better and all I could come up with was Kevin McKidd, Daniel Day Lewis and Ralph Fiennes.
Hopefully it is good because i am a Hitman fan... Also, this movie looks like John Woo should direct it and I still think Jason Statman should have been the Hitman, but o well...
I'll certainly go see it. The Hitman series is one of my favorites, and I hope they don't destroy it. I'm going to give it a fair chance though, and wait until October until I decide whether it's crap or not.
After watching the trailer, I don't like their choice of Agent 47. He has a baby face. All I kept looking at when viewing the trailer is Jason Stratham.
btw the song is called ave maria. theres a hundred different remakes of it since it's like been around since the dawn of time, so i can't tell you who sings it lol
"(are we the only ones that still find that title a bit much?) "
It's not too much for an American 80's style action flick. The Die Hard movies have always been coated with the slightest bit of cheese and bursting with over the top 80's style action. So I think the title fits. Plus if you dont like it you could always move to France... pansy (lol Im just kidding)
Statham? Are you kidding? You guys have no taste. As worried as I am about this movie and Tim pulling it off, I can guarantee you it's already 10 times better now because Vin Diesel and Statham aren't in it. Hollywood suits may suck, but at least they had enough sense to stay the hell away from those two guys.
Why not David Bateson (47's voice actor) himself? The devs have been making 47 look more like him in recent years anyway. Granted he's getting on a bit now, but probably the two most important features 47 has is his eyes and voice, get the voice actor and the voice is automatically perfect.
Also, it is Ave Maria, the one by Franz Schubert.
Here it is in German, because everything is better in German.
Go fucking watch Deadwood if you don't think Olyphant can pull off being a badass... Transporter / Crank were god awful movies, I would hate to see another video game to movie adaptation go to shit by choosing one of the most typecast actors in recent years. The baby face is deceptive...
To Mark #34. You little douche. I've seen Deadwood. Dead, but ok. Transporter/crank was ok movies. Crank was a bit much. You cheese, it's not all about those movies. it's about the look, style, and how one can pull it off. That fart playing agent 47 has none. He looks like a geek trying to look cool straight out of the jenny jone's show. deceptive? he looks deprived. But we'll see how he'll pan out once the movie hits theatres.
this guy is nowhere near smooth, or old enough to play hitman. one of the best things about the video game was the way the hitman walked, and they got it wrong. he is supposed to move efficiently, almost machine-like, and he doesn't. nonetheless, i hope they can still make this a good movie.
Transporter wasn't too bad. I don't think many people expected Hitman to be some sort of work of art. The whole storyline and idea is borderline cheezy in the first place. Because Transporter and Crank weren't great movies doesn't mean Jason Statham isn't a good fit for this role. He's got that bad ass look and attitude down pat. As long as the script is good, Jason would've been superb at his depiction of a cold-blooded killer.
Just a heads-up. The official Hitman movie teaser site is up. Nothing new to see apart from the trailer (both in High and Low quality versions; unable to download either).
Agent 47 should be characteristics are follows as the game; He is a tall, blue-eyed, bald, no-nonsense individual, who wears well-tailored Italian suits.
I'm not a fan of HITMAN game After watching the trailer I was amazed. I also 1st thought Timothy is not the person for this. But later I realized after reading the characteristics of Mr.47 of the game, he might be the one. But we have to wait until October 12th to see his performance.I think Vin Diesel and other gorilla type actors won't suit this character as they are much macho type.
"5. The actor doesn't look badass enough to be a true Agent 47.

Shows what you know. Killers generaly don't look badass. Met a couple of S.A.S soldiers. You probably wouldn't think twice about getting into a fight with them in a bar. But they'd put you through a wall.
