At least with this we get to choose where it gets put in, the also said it had to be inspired by Doritos and not completley about Doritos. I think this will give people the chance to have a lot of fun designing a game.

I recently picked up off eBay a rare copy of the "Volvo: Drive for Life" video game for Xbox that showcased the safety features of Volvo automobiles.

Now there's an intense experience!

Does it really make any less sense than a game built around inside jokes from a web comic?

Hell yes it makes less sense than the PA game. You really need to ask that? They're fucking chips covered in powdered cheese. Why are they making a video game based on powdered-cheese chips? The Burger King games were one thing. BK seems to be aware of what it is, and their ad campaigns the last few years have been strange and funny, and the games reflected that. Doritos are always so ridiculously serious. There is no humor in their marketing. There is no self-awareness. It's like your fat, bald uncle starting a Christian folk group and treating it like it's The Skydiving Megadeths.

The Penny Arcade coverage here is getting irritating. Yes, I had my laughs when this hitted my RSS reader, but seeing it again, in here, that's pushing it.
Not to sound too negative, but lately the x360 is getting better news than 'look what PA is saying'.

No one ever said it had to be based on Doritos, it just has to include them, which could be anything like a generic powerup, hp restorer, whatever. I'm not defending it, I just think it's a bit unfair to lambast something based only on its worst case scenerio of being an advertising bombardment, which it most likely wouldn't be in the first place since Doritos would be funding the person creating it, not creating it themselves. It's especially absurd coming from two guys who are basically doing the exact same thing with their own intellectual property. I'm looking forward to the PA game and it will most likely be hilarious, but that doesn't make it any less of a shill, just a more agreeable one.

@5

I second that. Half of us already follow PA, we don't need any of this "gosh, I really need content!" bullshit.

Does nobody remember Cool Spot? Throw a dorito chip in there as the main character and give him a little bit of seasoning -- voila. It's not that big of a deal.
