Behold the wonder: God of War mobile isn't bad

When our own reporter came back from the Sony gamer's day and said God of War: Betrayal for the cell phone was good, we feared the poor man had cracked. But now comes word from IGN, which gave the game a 90 that it is, in fact, a good solid game. We may never look at our mobile the same way again.God of War: Betrayal takes place after Ares' defeat but before the events of God of War II. IGN says the game is a 16-bit "glory days" 2D side-scroller and is a God of War title "through and through." Guess for those who can't wait for God of War: Chains of Olympus on PSP and have a compatible phone, maybe it could be worth checking out this mobile game. We hope this doesn't make us reexamine mobile gaming entirely -- let's call this a one hit wonder for now.

Seriously, 90/100? Are you retarded? More like 40/100.
This game is repetitive as fuck. The plot is tedious, the dialogue is boring, the sound is sub-par, there are only like 8 different enemies you come across. The battling is the same thing over and over and over and over again.
The game is not worht the money, the time, nor is it worth the effort.
Definately not worthy of 9/10.

This game is proof that you don't need good graphics to make a good game. The PSP version is going to use extra horsepower (333 MHZ) to improve the graphics, but for what? Shorter battery life?
The developers should have worked in the confines of the original PSP speed and focused on making the game great instead of blindly chasing the graphics grail.

This doesn't actually surprise me. I've always thought that the core gameplay of God of War fits perfectly with games from that era. Playing God of War actually makes me nostalgic for those kinds of games.
I may consider buying this. And I don't even buy cell phone games.

i wish the PSP version was a side scroller, because i fear when i play the PSP game, with only one crappy analog nub all im gonna want is to play the better console versions. devs need to learn to make games for PSP that are tailored for handhelds, not consoles.

@6- They didn't say that. They just said this one cellphone game happened to be really cool. Actually, what they said was really that other people thought the game was really cool. Hell, they even mentioned "We hope this doesn't make us reexamine mobile gaming entirely" which means mobile gaming as a whole to Joystiq is uncool.

cell phone gaming is just a bunch of bull shit. Even a game which is suppose to be mroe fun then them all, that cell phone version of zelda the guy made, still sucks balls whena ctually played on a cell phone. I feel I wasted money by even having the feature to play games on my cell phone. I would quite litteraly rather stare at a wall and do nothing while I wait then play a cell phone game. There just so lame.

Can anybody tell me why "action"-type cell games make up 90+% of the market? Every cell I've ever used has terrible controls when it comes to responsiveness, which means they have to dumb down the action to make it possible to win. Lame, lame, lame. The cell is obviously well suited for puzzle and RPG/strategy games, but nobody seems to make any (Popcap excepted, though they have their share of twitch titles).
Where are the good cell games that aren't response-time sensitive?
