Most impressive. I just want to throw in, too, that I saw both R6 Vegas, The Bigs, and The Darkness at Fry's today. Finally made it to retail, woot!

One more thing to add that I forgot in that first post: The Darkness says '1080p' on the box, and R6:V has 1080i listed.

That'll make for a total of $118, plus tax, spent on games this week.
With more being spent next week.

It's about damn time!

I'm looking forward to Super Stardust hitting the European PSN. I've fond memories of blasting those shiney asteroids on the original Amiga version. :)

Super Stardust is really an amazing game. This game is going to sell like hotcakes!!

It is similar to Geo Wars on Xbox Live but 5 times better. The price is right as well. You know MS would sell this thing for $14.00 on Live!!

PSN is well on it's way now.

I too would like to know if anyone has played Stardust. This site is great at selling these games to me... I gotta stop listening.

I've not had much of a chance to play, but I did sit down with it for about 20 minutes.

From what I got to play, it is really excellent. It is the game Blast Factor wishes it was (and I loved Blast Factor). Visually stunning and the music is great. The gameplay gets pretty frantic and fast paced and has a great balance between simplicity and fun features.

I could go on, but we'll be doing a review before long and I want to save some of my thoughts for that.

If you're on the fence about buying it, though: go for it. I doubt you'll regret it.

This game totally rocks. I have a 360 and I've played NOTHING on it more than Geo Wars; this game's even better.

The edge-less level and the boost helps prevent you from getting cornered (all too common in GW, especially when close to the boundaries). Most objects in SSDHD also isn't out to ram the player's ship head-on, again unlike GW, so the game pace is a bit more relaxed, and the difficulty ramp is better - ie faster. Early-game GW, up to about 50k points or so is quite boring, SSDHD manages a bit better.

My recipe for success: level RED weapon exclusively until it reaches 100%, after that, start leveling BLUE exclusively. Both green and blue guns are way way too weak initially to be worth having. Every 2nd power level they shoot super slow, so if you miss the enemy you run a much higher chance of dying. Early game is much safer played with the red gun only.

To have a chance to get a good score, you shouldn't die at all for the first four planets preferably. Once you die the rate of points scored drops tremendously, so you end up having to fight just as hard but earning almost nothing in comparison until the multiplier goes back up again (takes quite a while).

You won't need the green gun to finish the first planet (and red works fine against the endboss), and having max-power red gun on the second planet from the start will help tremendously. Also, you'll need max, or at least near max power blue gun when starting the third planet since red gun produces too much debris when shooting ice; it's almost impossible to make it through without wasting tons of bombs and dying and losing the multiplier. I used blue gun almost entirely through planet 3, only switching briefly to red to take out some pesky enemies.

I never really found a good use for the green gun. I finished all 5 planets using only red and blue, but I guess if one manages to bring green to 100% before clocking the game it could be nice to have on the first planet in hard mode.

I made a stupid mistake and died on the first wave of the first planet in hard mode (with almost 45 million points in the bank) so I didn't really have time to find out... ;)
