Codemasters says DiRT sold 500,000 in one week
Behold the power of mud! Rally racer DiRT has sold globally 500,000 copies in its first week of release, according to Codemasters. The publisher cites statistics from web site VG Chartz that the Colin McRae-less US version was number one on the Xbox 360 charts, a move that is sure to get the NPD a little hot and bothered.
Speaking with Joystiq, VG Chartz president Brett Walton said that the 500,000 shipment figure "is likely to be a shipment figure" (i.e. Codemasters has sold 500,000 to the retailers, not necessarily to the consumer). Walton said that the sales were 110,000 in the US (70,000 for Xbox 360 and 40,000 on the PC) and around 150,000 total in Europe.

The PS3 has over a million users in the US, and most are starved for games.
I cannot comprehend why developers would delay the PS3 version of games. You'll sell more if you ship it simultaneously.
And BTW, I have a 360, but I didn't buy DiRT yet (love the demo though), I'm still busy with Forza 2.

""I call BS...I'm sure if they sold 500,000 that's not sell-thru (to consumers) but rather just to stores.""
Now that u've mentioned it, was Diablo sell through to stores or consumers?

Sorry dude...I could care less about Motorstorm, it is not bad at all. I just like Dirt better.
Suckers? Right. This coming from somebody who obviously bought a PS3.

The NPD is questioning VGChartz's data? Doesn't the NPD have better data than VGChrarz?
Codemaster doesn't confirm VGChartz is right about the number sold, they're simply saying they're right about it being the top selling Xbox 360 title for the week.
All this time I thought VGChartz was paying for the information. It would appear not.
This further implies that VGChartz is guessing at their numbers.

How the FRAK did a real company rely on vgchartz.com for sales data!? Thats like sony or MS quoting that Hatcher analyst guy on sales! WORSE even.
vgchartz.com is a crappy copy of 2 OTHER sites
vgcharts.com and
vgcharts.org
The rip off "z" site has only been around, since what? January?
what ever happened to nextgenwars, did anybody ever quote them?

And those bitching about Motorstorm and Dirt are idiots; they're completely different. It's like arguing Burnout and Gran Turismo: arcade vs. gear-head. Go find something better to argue about.

You have to got into the car set-up and tinker with the settings, because the defaults are hardly ever any good. Playing with the power bias and adding down force works for me.

The career mode is easy to get into and really addictive once you start getting the hang of the controls.
