Freelance musician Virt to compose Contra 4 soundtrack
Jake "Virt" Kaufman, founder of the videogame remix site VGMix, gets to add another shining star to his resume: composer for Contra 4. The freelance musician has worked on game soundtracks before, including Scurge: Hive and WayForward's own gem of a platformer Shantae. He also happens to have crafted our favorite Metroid metal megamix, Crystal Flash.Matt Bozon of WayForward says Jake's take on Contra's tunes is "fantastic", and judging by his repertoire we can see why. To grab a few sample tunes, check out Virt's page on VGMix as well as his personal website.

Wonderful soundtrack. At the very least, definately for its time. That 3rd level (pictured) music really hits the spot. Music for last few levels were nice too, but one had to dig up the sound select for that as it was difficult getting there even on easy mode (or was it another Contra w/sound select mode?)

My interest in Contra has increased. Should I buy a Contra VC game while I await this?

#2 Yes, because I'm about to as well, haha. This is awesome though, having Virt do the soundtrack is freaking sweet.

Music is music. The game is still being developed by WayForward :(

And that's a bad thing... why? Have you seen the latest preview with screenshots on 1UP?
