The internet hasn't collapsed under the combined weight of millions of concurrent F5 keystrokes this time, so we can bring you the newest Grand Theft Auto IV trailer, titled "Looking for That Special Someone," without the need for torrents and other such nonsense. Tucked away safely after the break, watch as Niko Bellic hangs from helicopters, hangs from moving trunks, and just hangs out in general (with a gun of course). We're sure internet sleuths are already busy poring over the trailer frame by frame, but until they hand in their report, is their anything notable in this trailer? Us? We're fans of Niko's accent, it's adorable.
Update: Rockstar just sent out some additional facts on the trailer. Facts like:
All footage is captured in real-time on a next generation gaming console
It's running on Rockstar's RAGE engine, also used in Table Tennis
The game uses euphoria, a fully procedural animation package created by NaturalMotion
The music -- titled "Arm In Arm (Shy Child Remix)" -- is by New York City-based band The Boggs
Uh... Did the graphics engine take a huge dump? From the first trailer to this one almost looks like two different games. Still cool, but I just lost a lot of "hype" for it.
The video has a fucktion of ugly compression artifacts applied to it. The Yahoo! page is no different. You can't really say anything to that effect until we get a crisp Quicktime encode.
With that said, it still looks good, you just have to squint.
The trailer looks great to me, I'm really excited about this game, lets hope the PS3 version is good, stop hating on Sony you little *****, get something better to do, damn!
"This game is the definition of lame, it looks like crap. We have the 360 to thank for that."
Is that why every build shown so far, whether to the press or public, has been of the 360? It's running the game better than you're precious PS3, fanboy turd.
First of all great name. It's always unique when someone has numbers trailing their username. Second, watch the quicktime video I posted. This game is looking great. And you people that said the game is pre-rendered... Don't ever have children.
The reason I said quicktime is because on the Internet, QT video will sacrifice smaller file size for a better picture quality. It's just the way it is.
And I agree that iTunes is garbage. But what does that have to do with this trailer?
i was just basically saying quicktime isn't really the answer, they could of made a good quality windows media version as well but the people who posted it decided use a highly compressed version, and the numbers in my name represent something similar to what the name before it does so thanks for criticizing something you do not understand lol
You should really learn what Uncanny Valley means before saying that.
@26
But Quicktime IS the answer. Can you go fram-by-frame on an WMV? No you can't. And by going frame-by-frame, I noticed a poor homeless man getting beat up by a pedestrian. Uh, it's something, right?
I know you have a hard-on for MS and still think there's a Mac/PC war going on but get over it. Until you can go frame-by-frame with arrow keys in a WMV, QT holds the advantage. And going frame-by-frame through the last trailer in QT is EXACTLY what the media did with the last trailer.
Why does this even bother you. And clearly it does. You have MS stock or something? You get royalties somehow?
"But Quicktime IS the answer. Can you go fram-by-frame on an WMV? No you can't."
Yes, you can.
"Just another HYPE trailer with a bunch of cutscenes and no "in game" footage."
It's all in-game footage. There's presumably just no gameplay (several scenes could be gameplay with fancy vehicle camera views, but there's no way of telling for sure). There's a difference.
LOL - "iTunes is garbage" - It's quite obviously not to your taste. But that doesn't make it garbage. It revolutionized listening to music on your computer, syncing media with your iPod and buying music online. So please leave your bad taste at home and talk about this video.
This is NOT pre rendered, at least the vast majority isn't. If you think this is pre rendered, you have either not played a next gen or PC game in years, or you are some kind of anti GTA fanbot.

no i don't like QT because i have issues doing what ever i please with a QT file, it has nothing to do with me disliking Mac's, Mac's do have a use if your into graphic design and such
ha the ppl who complain that its not "in-game" footage...if this was pre-rendered it would look...
im not even going to bother, you guys have no idea what youre saying and complain for the sake of complaining. If this trailer is CG, we're in 1996. The only thing not in-game about this is the lack of a HUD and actual footage of free roaming which would ruin the trailer.
Yeah, Rockstar clearly is having problems with their character models. They just don't look very good. And they certainly don't look next-gen. Resident Evil 4 has much better character models, and it's a freaking GameCube game...
"I know you have a hard-on for MS and still think there's a Mac/PC war going on but get over it. Until you can go frame-by-frame with arrow keys in a WMV, QT holds the advantage."
You may try using Windows Media Player Classic or even old Windows Media Player 6.4 (if you have codecs installed)
PS. QT with HD movies is 2 to 3 TIMES SLOWER ON PC. Terrible terrible coding - 'it works like crap 'cause we want YOU to BUY MAC'.
Chill out, the game isn't coming out for another FOUR MONTHS, so I'm sure the geniuses at Rockstar will have time to iron out almost all of the wrinkles and make an amazing game. Why have we all lost faith? The last three games were amazing in my book.
Hey, if you play any GTA game for the latest in cutting-edge graphics, then you are a moron.
That said, I can't even begin to imagine the scope of this game. It will be huge. The GTA series is the father of all sandbox games, and judging by the monumental leaps in scope and gameplay from GTA III to San Andreas, this chapter promises to be great.
@36 If you can't play QT files then there's something very wrong with your rig.
@33
iTunes is and HAS been garbage and will continue to be garbage until the fix many flaws with the software. There's no point in listing them all. The BIGGEST flaw is their playlist system. Basically, their system is YOU. The USER has to make all the playlists.
Windows Media Player has had auto playlists and category trees since forever. And WMP11 even takes this to the next level. On iTunes the only way to sort things is to do it yourself. Otherwise ALL your music is displayed on a single plain.
For an Apple product I'm surprised at how unintuitive it is.

No, no, and maybe. In can be argued that WINAMP revolutionized listening to audio on your PC. Syncing has been around since WMP7. Nothing revolutionary about that. And your third point I'll say maybe.

Trailers are designed to create hype! Wait for late summer/fall for gameplay video.

But then I have to jump through hoops! (See my point? Hurts, doesn' it?) Hopefully WMP12 will support this out the box and I can do it in my browser.
