Midway announces Cruis'n, exclusively for Wii

Note to the Nissan driver in the above pic: it's spelled "Cruis'n." Let's at least try to be consistent with our misspellings. Cruis'n rolls up this November.

More Wii Exclusives!
Is neon the new standard. Ugh...
Jason Tyra @ Jun 28th 2007 11:49AM
I think the 3 Z's are indicative of the level of excitement that will surround this title.
JodyAnthony @ Jun 28th 2007 11:55AM
the cruis'n series was terrible.
Phranctoast @ Jun 28th 2007 11:56AM
they were fun for arcade. thats it.
Zeus the God @ Jun 28th 2007 11:57AM

Yeah, real funny. Cruis'n USA and Cruis'n World were 2 of the greatest racing games ever. Realistic? No, but they were fun as hell to play with friends, and shit like that, and driving a bus into traffic and smashing into drunk drivers, or seeing bugs splatter and bird shit splatter on your windshield was hilarious.
This game will, no doubt, be one of the greatest Wii titles ever.
Blizz4l9 @ Jun 28th 2007 12:02PM
i agree i liked the cruis'n series and i will most likely pick this one up
Obi-Habby @ Jun 28th 2007 12:02PM
I think the ZZZ's were on the license plate because the car is a Nissan. I saw what they are going for. 350Z for the win.
sheppy @ Jun 28th 2007 12:03PM
Midway Designer: Neon under cars are still cool, right?
Midway Developer: I think we'll have a much better shot at reaching the kids if we license that Vanilla Ice character who's all the rage these days...
Monkeh @ Jun 28th 2007 12:04PM
It's Wii only because it'll be so shit, that only Wii owners would buy it not people with a "proper" console.
:P
Texo @ Jun 28th 2007 12:11PM
its wii only because its ALWAYS been a nintendo exclusive, even the arcade cabinets said they were for nintendo "ultra" 64
deaftly @ Jun 28th 2007 12:18PM
it was fun in the arcade back in the day but nothing i would be excited for on a console
kennethrios @ Jun 28th 2007 12:30PM
This is at the heart of who will end up with the most profit at the end of this generation’s “war”. Nintendo has offered their console at price level far below their rivals and has made it just as appealing. The result is that people are buying Nintendo systems and with the higher install base, larger amounts of games will come. Just look at the PSII: tons of games (not all exactly quality) but since there were more PSII in homes, game developers want to create games for that market.
Wii exclusives should be expected. Nintendo has even went out of their way to make sure of it with a unique control system (i.e. the wii remote) and cheaper development costs. I mean, why spend more money to produce games for systems that have a smaller install base?
Platinum_Skeet @ Jun 28th 2007 12:35PM
Wow you're dumb if you think an exclusive racing game on the Wii is a good thing. Especially one made by Midway. It's just a quick way to cash in off of old people and parents of little kids that don't know much better...
superbagman @ Jun 28th 2007 12:36PM
Ugh, Cruis'n USA was one of the WORST N64 racing games I've ever played. I remember that first winter the N64 was out, searching all over town to rent Cruis'n so I could play SOMETHING other than Mario and Pilotwings...and being terribly dissappointed.
samfish @ Jun 28th 2007 12:46PM
I liked Crusin' USA back in the day.
But racing games are BOOOOOOOOORRRRRING to me these days.
so...meh.
kennethrios @ Jun 28th 2007 12:59PM
Exclusives are a good thing in financial terms. It is unlikely that “”Cruis'n, will be the next Citizen Kane of the racing game world but it is a good trend for the Big N that developers want to produce games for their consoles. One of the truths of the gaming world is that if you’re console has the highest install base than it is likely that most of the games will be uninteresting, undeveloped and/or cash-ins. However, the console with the highest install base will also get some of the best games. Just look at the PSII game library, is everything “Metal Gears”? No? Is everything “Bass Hunter VI”? No.
Obi-Habby @ Jun 28th 2007 1:05PM
Midway is good at making arcade racer's and its not just cruis'n. They also have SF Rush/Rush 2049 under their belts along with The Fast and the Furious. Honestly as long as it plays as well as Fast and the Furious it will be a good race the clock arcade style racer. Bring on the sideways wiimotes
Almack64 @ Jun 28th 2007 1:12PM
I for one loved both the Cruisn series and the rush series. (probably rush slightly more). I'm looking forward to another non-realistic Midway racer.

"This game will, no doubt, be one of the greatest Wii titles ever."
lmao.
Crono @ Jun 28th 2007 1:50PM
Yeah, even I had to laugh at that one.
Crono @ Jun 28th 2007 1:50PM
Yeah, even I had to laugh at that one.
But this should still be a fun game to play. I got alot of play time out of Cruisin USA.
But that was 10 years ago, and I do have a job now.
ferrarimanf355 @ Jun 28th 2007 1:56PM
Obi-Habby,
The Fast and the Furious wasn't made by Midway, it was made by Raw Thrills. However, that game was made by people who were responsible for the Cruis'n series, so yeah...
Shockgamer @ Jun 28th 2007 2:01PM
Judging purley from the picture, it looks like Midway is going to make the same mistake they made with L.A. Rush: forgetting what people liked about the series and using the name just to carry a generic Need For Speed Underground/Midnight Club wannabe.
Luckily, in Cruisin's case there isn't too much to like.
Obi-Habby @ Jun 28th 2007 2:31PM
To stay true to the series all they have to do is make sure that an "Arcade Mode" is included. Anything after that is filler and should be considered free game.
Jonathan Tran @ Jun 28th 2007 3:14PM
Midway racing:
Rush: Good
Hydro Thunder: Awesome
Cruisin: Sucks
Rush was one of the first games that had good force feedback.
Hydro thunder was great due to the controls and the outlandish presentation.
Cruisin is to racing as mario strikers is to soccer
Adv2k1 @ Jun 28th 2007 3:32PM
They always been RETARDED YET FUN type of racing games. Looks like Midway wants to get back the casual racing market away from Midnight Club type of games that was sort of descendent of CruisN.
I remember I was in RedWood Forest level and going offroad and running over the trees with the jeep.
It was so retarded it was awesome.
OnimushaSoki @ Aug 3rd 2007 1:29PM
"They always been RETARDED YET FUN type of racing games."
...farkin' LAWL.
TVGenius @ Jun 28th 2007 4:13PM
Hey, in their day, both the arcade and N64 versions were amazing. But they were no MarioKart (ala SNES). Speaking of which... WHEN? Need Wii Bob-omb battles! ONLINE!
uglyteeth @ Jun 28th 2007 4:44PM
You sure this isn't based off the Al Pacino movie of the same name? That would be some interesting use of the wii remote.
Rubang B @ Jun 28th 2007 5:02PM
Come on Jonathan Tran, Cruisin' isn't THAT good. Mario Strikers is the best soccer game around, and is the spiritual successor to the SNES NBA Jam Tournament Edition. It's flawless 4 player arcade foul-heavy madness, now with more powerups than ever. Juice mode, anyone? HE'S ON FIRE.
David @ Jun 28th 2007 6:05PM
Crus'n USA was amazing, WOrld was good too. They then went a little too far with the games and just rushed them. Hopefully this one isn't rushed.
J.G.F. @ Jun 28th 2007 8:08PM
What some of the "hard-core" gamers fail to realize is that the Wii is an arcade machine for your home. Adding an arcade-style game like the fun Cruis'n series will certainly compliment the Wii.
I'm a pretty social person, and I use the Wii as an entertainment option for guests to my home. The Wii has already paid for itself in this regard.
I'm looking forward to this Cruis'n series as well as all of the shooting games.
Bastion @ Jun 28th 2007 11:34PM
Maybe there will be a PSP port!! Haha
OriginalVoice @ Jun 30th 2007 9:52AM
I enjoyed cruisin it was fun. This has potential though. Online racing would be fun.
