Ninja Gaiden costumes in Super Swing Golf sequel
In the latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu, Tecmo announced a sequel to Super Swing Golf (known as PangYa elsewhere) for the Wii. Along with more courses, extra modes and items, the game will feature several new costumes, including those of Ryu and Rachel from Ninja Gaiden. There will also be new special moves such as "spike shots" that are unaffected by the wind. Japanese gamers can get their hands on the game this winter, but no word on a North American release yet.

Dear Tecmo
Please fix your shitty game before worrying about extra characters.
kthxbye

Hayabusa seems to be exercising his masculinity but turning his back to Rachel, who is caught unawares.

I don't know, PangYa was the best golf game out there so far, but we'll see how this goes...

I'm agreeing with sheppy for a little bit, but it's not Tecmo who has to fix it, it's Ntreev. The major problem is that it's pushing the boundaries of the Wii itself, to the point where it lags. Oh yeah, and add online support like the PC game, you silly ninja-loving fools.
I sense a lot of butt-kissing somewhere with this though.

I'm agreeing with Pierce

I kinda like the game, the swing controls are a little crappy though, they need to borrow a bit from the Tiger Woods game, at least that game let you pull back and swing pretty quickly like real life.

ditto on the nipple poppin outta her shirt. i likes me some pixels.

@sheppy:
They're not adding extra characters, but costumes to the existing characters.
In the first SSG, Arin had a Kasumi constume, Max had a Hayabusa costume, Hana has a Miku (Fatal Frame) costume, etc.
In the sequel, Max will be getting a different Hayabusa costume, and Cecilia will be getting a Rachel costume.
You can see what all the characters are (without the Tecmo-themed costumes, though) on the JP site for the Wii version:
http://www.tecmo.co.jp/product/pangya/chara.html
(first three pages are playable characters, second three are the caddies)
The content is mostly identical to Season 2 of PangYa/Albatross18 for the PC, except with the addition of Kaz (the new character introduced in Season 3). Looks like SSG3 will be more like Season 3, such as including the Spike Shot (and I can only guess that the courses Deep Inferno and Ice Spa will be in it, too)
@Wickedneoq:
Actually, the Wii version was developed interally at Tecmo. More or less, they licensed PangYa from Ntreev.
While the first one was fun to me, it could definitely stand some improvements. Loading and framerate issues should be fixed, I hope. And with Wi-Fi Connection finally up and running for Wii, online play would be awesome.

That's not a black nipple, it's just a poorly placed pixel from her "clothing."
I think Super Swing Golf is the best golf on the Wii right now, so if the sequel's only 1% better it'll be my new favorite.
samfish @ Jun 28th 2007 5:15PM
I'll probably buy this if they add an online play mode and fix the stupid swing mechanics. It was just friggin' dumb the way they have swinging set up in the first one.
john @ Jun 28th 2007 5:42PM
This isn't exactly new. I unlocked the Hayabusa costume in the original Wii Super Swing Golf.
Evan @ Jun 28th 2007 6:54PM
I'm happy to hear that a sequel is coming. I enjoyed the game, and I adore the characters!

Yeah, they need to watch those pixels. In the first game, Hana looks like she has a cameltoe when she wears her yellow bikini!

I found the swing controls to be solid. I can swing, and by know by feel if I made a good shot or not without even looking at the screen. There's never a moment when I wonder "why did it do that?".
I think the problem is, the game does nothing to teach you how to swing the Wiimote. When I've played with friends, I've seen them hack at the remote like they are swinging a hammer or baseball bat. If it was real golf, they'd completely miss the ball, but in the game, they just hook or slice the ball. When I started with the game, I had to go outside with a Wimote and a real club, and I practiced swinging both until I got a feel for swinging the Wiimote, which isn't easy because it lacks the weight and inertia of a real club. So, if you've never golfed in real life before, you're basically screwed in the game!

Oh, GoNintendo had up the Famitsu scans of Max and Cecilia in their Ninja Gaiden costumes:

Max's Hayabusa costume looks the same as it was int he first game... [shrugs]
Hey, if any of you guys play Albatross18, lemme know. :D
(I go by the name BPMOmega there)
Retrofied @ Jun 28th 2007 11:33PM
Guys, those are figurines...
rioka @ Jun 29th 2007 10:25AM
@ Evan
I've never golfed irl and I became proficient. I can hit Pangya 99% of the time plus hit curves with no problem. (I've even gotten hole-in-ones and albatrosses! ^_^V ) Of course, my stance isn't proper but who the heck cares when you're getting the hits right and winning? ;)
Anyways, I'd love to see an online version in the new Pangya. They better have it this time or it's pretty much pointless to buy the new version. :|
