Soul Calibur's new bountiful bouncing breasts, now in screenshot form (in EGM)
Each Soul Calibur release has been bigger and better than the last, and Soul Calibur 4 isn't about to let us down (note the liberal use of bosom-related puns in that sentence). Four new screenshots tucked away in the pages of this month's EGM show off exactly what we want to see: bums and boobs of the female persuasion (and a duck or two, but that's secondary). As we noticed a few weeks ago, Ivy has received a monumental mammary resizing for the upcoming game. So much, in fact, that we're concerned for her health. Those things are just begging to get popped.[Update: The screenshots we posted earlier were taken from the glossy pages of this month's EGM. If you want to see more, pick up the mag or check out this teaser. Again. And again. Alright, enough of that.]

Pointing out your own bad puns doesn't make them funny.
doom saber @ Jun 28th 2007 11:46AM
Graphics looks awsome. I am wondering if that Tira's new look or if that is just her alt look. I wonder...
Ivy's new bra strap thingy doesn't seem it can withstand the weight of her bosoms.

"Pointing out your own bad puns doesn't make them funny."
I was thinking that same thing.
MooseMuffin @ Jun 28th 2007 11:58AM
Where did these shots come from? Are they low quality scans of something? The images just generally look bad.
Jon @ Jun 28th 2007 11:58AM
"Pointing out your own bad puns doesn't make them funny."
Seconded.
Pathie @ Jun 28th 2007 11:58AM
To be honest, the visual style in these screenshots are worrisome. Not that it's inherently bad, but the amount of sheer luster in a few of those screenshots is rather ridiculous. Not only that, but isn't anyone else concerned that characters like Taki and Ivy are even more sexualized than before in order to take focus off any possible shortcomings?
Jon @ Jun 28th 2007 11:58AM
@Moose
Scans from EGM.
Travis @ Jun 28th 2007 12:00PM
Am I the only one that thinks these screens look extremely bad? I'm hoping they're just scaled poorly or something, but they're very messy.
I loved Soul Calibur back on my Dreamcast, but if the game really comes out looking like this I think I'll just skip it.
something_something_parasol @ Jun 28th 2007 12:10PM
Ivy really looks like crap in the 3rd screenshot. They were so busy sexing her up they kind of forgot to make her aesthetically pleasing :/
Tibetan Monk @ Jun 28th 2007 12:11PM
I guess i'm going to sound gay when i say this, but Ivy's breast are way too big.
Sorry, but i think the artist really needs to grow up alittle bit. I'm tired of big breast.
soups @ Jun 28th 2007 12:14PM
the original was the spark that got me to go out and buy a dreamcast. when i first saw the game i knew i had to have it. sadly, i havent felt that way about a system since. i think it was the first major jump to "smooth" 3d graphics from a disc game. these screens look like every other game on 360 or ps3. the spark has fizzled
jakie_chon @ Jun 28th 2007 12:17PM
I don't know why so many complaints, I like them boobies
horngreen @ Jun 28th 2007 12:55PM
I've got to wonder why the guys in this game want to fight these girls. I'd have to try the old line "I'm a lover not a fighter" and see what happens. I mean I might enjoy sword fighting as much as the next guy but I KNOW I would have more fun hooking up with that as opposed to killing it. I also wonder where games like this will be in another 20 years. Will their breast look like two manatees on her chest? Will she be a bed ridden shut in due to her giant breast?
Dan @ Jun 28th 2007 12:58PM
You can tell it's next-gen because it's so damn shiny that it hurts to look at.
Still, I've always loved how Soul Calibur played, so I'll play this one.
bm @ Jun 28th 2007 1:16PM
It's not so much the size that irks me as it is the ridiculous piece of string they chose to support them. They're going to fall out from underneath!
Her previous brassieres looked quite classy compared to this. Now she just looks like a cheap whore designed by a 14 year old.
Michael K. @ Jun 28th 2007 1:16PM
Its amazing that you guys are still this fixated on Ivy's boobs. Get over it, there are other things you could write about concerning this game.
Crrash @ Jun 28th 2007 1:23PM
"You can tell it's next-gen because it's so damn shiny that it hurts to look at."
nope, the shine is what makes a game next gen... sadly
NintendoFanbot @ Jun 28th 2007 1:27PM
BOOBS AS BIG AS HER HEAD I SAY
Grey Acumen @ Jun 28th 2007 1:55PM
I have to agree. I only played SC3 a few times, but I enjoyed playing as Ivy. I can barely recall what she looked like before, but I know it was... better than the current model.
I dunno, I think they would have done far better to stick to the old models. There is a point where an outfit is impractical for battle and sexy, this has crossed into impractical for ANYTHING and absurd.

10. I guess i'm going to sound gay when i say this, but Ivy's breast are way too big.

That's crazy talk!
rarehero @ Jun 28th 2007 4:24PM
I think the game is coming along quite well, especially considering Namco says the graphics aren't anywhere near done.
That entire EGM article was pretty perverted, lol. I have no problems with Ivy's bust size at all. It's crazy, but these are videogames...
Finally, it's amazing Joystiq managed to 'get in trouble' like this yet again. Joystiq reminds me of an innocent forum poster, why do I keep visiting it though?
Imadogg99 @ Jun 28th 2007 5:07PM
1. Graphics are obviously not final
2. Not all next-gen is shiny. GoW makes me sad
3. I love boobs
CD @ Jun 28th 2007 6:48PM
Michael K.:"Its amazing that you guys are still this fixated on Ivy's boobs. Get over it, there are other things you could write about concerning this game."
Yeah, like Taki's boobs.
kegleuk @ Jun 29th 2007 1:09AM
where the hell are the screens
DBuck_Eye @ Jun 29th 2007 9:52AM
@ Tibetan Monk
I agree. It seems like with any girl character in any game these days, the boobs came first, then the body.
Developers, it is no a secret that girls have boobs. Get over it.
Oh, and is it just me, or does Ivy's bra seem like it doesn't even cover that part of the breast where the nipple traditionally is?
t_m @ Jun 30th 2007 9:05AM
jeez.. once you (finally) get a girlfriend these things become really embarassing.
Why don't game developers grow up past the maturity of 12 year old boys, and why do they insist on ruining good franchises like Soul Calibur and Prince of Persia by injecting women in thongs with insane breasts?
I say we start a "get game devs laid" fund and maybe we'lll get some grown up games at some point...
Seth @ Jul 24th 2007 5:53PM
Okay, it's not that big of a deal. Vid. Games are for the fantasy. The vid. game designers know what sells. Plus, the Soul Calibur girls, excluding Taki and Ivy, have relatively small chest. So, instead of complaining about the boobs and start suggesting what could make the gameplay better. or how about adding new modes?
