Metroid Prime 3 quietly delayed a week, try to remain calm
And they thought nobody would notice! Buried at the bottom of the press release trumpeting The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass' October 1 release date is the following: "Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, the third installment of the hit trilogy, launches with motion-sensitive controls exclusively on Wii on Aug. 27."
Those of you with August 20th marked on your Exotic Wildlife of Zebes calendars aren't imagining that release date, Nintendo announced it (along with the release dates for a bunch of other titles) back in May. What has this lesson taught us? First and foremost, don't use indelible marker on your calendars, you should really know better by now. Second, just in case this is a simple typo we've contacted Nintendo for confirmation of the new release date. [Update: and they've confirmed the new release date.]
... stay strong.

Of course, "Delayed" is a hallmark of XBLA.
Ian Von Porter @ Jul 2nd 2007 11:21AM
It was suppose to be a launch game.. so, 'delayed' is a serious understatement.
Shagittarius @ Jul 2nd 2007 11:21AM

Mr.Luben @ Jul 2nd 2007 11:28AM

Adv2k1 @ Jul 2nd 2007 11:22AM
for some reason my brain thought this game was coming august 30th so this is not a delay for me, but push forward.
wei @ Jul 2nd 2007 11:31AM

The mere mention of indelible ink reminds me of the great tune by Haywood Banks "The Revenge Song".
Listen here, you should get a good laugh.

Screw the 360 altogether generic games, sht talking kiddies on live thats 50 a year then add the fail rate lets not forget the BWC they swept under the rug,no thanks the 360 is to much money for they want for it, maybe when the CPU and GPU get in it,live is free and the price of the console is 299 for a preium it will be worth it.
Don't get me wrong the WII lack control over the control(no re map options or playing old games with the WIIs controls) add to it lack luster VC system that normal emulation still runs circles around option wise and the last thing wrong with the WII is the motion controls feel tacted on half the time, all in all the system is worth the price but tis no more prefect than the rest.
btw the PS3 is still a over priced media machine and a joke as a game machine.
Daniel @ Jul 2nd 2007 11:39AM
Good. I'll have time to beat Bioshock before this game steals my life.
C. Grant @ Jul 2nd 2007 11:54AM
ZippyDSMlee: what?
whosmav @ Jul 2nd 2007 11:55AM
Well DUH!
Jonathan Tran @ Jul 2nd 2007 11:58AM
Man this sucks, I want this bad. When does Soul Calibur legends come out anyway?
Also, what the hell is this? I think the best part is where the guy gets smacked in the face with a pokeball.

My thoughts exactly. Usually I can decypher the comments here, but that one blew my mind.
rudecomment @ Jul 2nd 2007 12:53PM
thats right before halo 3 right?
AirIntake @ Jul 2nd 2007 12:31PM
Finally, a Wii game I might actually want to play. Lets hope it's good.
Jay @ Jul 2nd 2007 12:35PM
The actually delayed a sale with me. Blue Dragon is on the 27th, isn't it?
Mr BoomStick XL @ Jul 2nd 2007 1:07PM
WOW, why have games for the Wii anyway?? It sells 400-500 thousand systems a month with nothing to play!! This is OUTRAGEOUS, 3-4 1st party games a year is'nt cutting the mustard when everything else are shameless ports!!
Kevin @ Jul 2nd 2007 1:13PM
They probably delayed it to come up with a new box art...
No, but seriously, I can't wait for this game.
Reality @ Jul 2nd 2007 1:20PM
Same Here Kevin
Admiral_Mike @ Jul 2nd 2007 1:32PM
I like the box art..........
Is there any news of a UK release yet? (cries)
vidGuy @ Jul 2nd 2007 1:32PM
Hmmm, I'm thinking with that extra week I may replay MP and go buy and play through MP2.
icicle0424 @ Jul 2nd 2007 2:00PM
another week? I don't know much about game design, but how much can they do in a week? or maybe they expect huge sales right off, so they're taking the week to make as many copies as they can... hmm, I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing...
could they be trying to sell as many as they can right away before people figure out it sucks? I hope not... but it seems that if the game is good enough, people who don't get it the first week would still get it the next...
ok, I no longer make sense to myself, it is with this that I end my comment...
Jonathan Tran @ Jul 2nd 2007 2:45PM
@25 maybe it just has to do with shipping, or maybe manual printing got delayed a week. it might have nothing to do with actual game development
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyXUVd2c83c
Eggman @ Jul 2nd 2007 2:51PM
They delayed it a week to time it to be next to Labor Day. Now it's exactly one week before Labor Day so kids and whoever can buy it that week and have the three day weekend to play it.
There's more to delays than just development changes.
Mr Khan @ Jul 2nd 2007 3:57PM
Now its one day AFTER my birthday
damnit, it was going to be so convenient, too
Plus, now the street date will be the second day of school (28), making my life that much more frazzled
20th was the perfect day, sigh...
Twinkie @ Jul 5th 2007 11:48AM
I'm not too mad... its only a week. I probably won't even have money to buy it at launch anyways.
samfish @ Jul 2nd 2007 5:04PM
Just call me sambabelfish, kids:
"Screw the 360 altogether generic games, sht talking kiddies on live thats 50 a year then add the fail rate"
The 360 sucks. The games are boring and they tend to focus only on certain genres. In addition to that, there is a disturbing number of older gentlemen in their 50's, on live. Often times, these gentlemen pretend to be children/girls in an attempt to seduce other players for sex.
"lets not forget the BWC they swept under the rug,no thanks the 360 is to much money for they want for it, maybe when the CPU and GPU get in it,live is free and the price of the console is 299 for a preium it will be worth it."
Let us not forget about that Big, Wacky Cat they swept under the rug! It cost too much money! Maybe when it's cheaper to manufacture and that translates to a significant price drop, I will purchase an Xbox 360.
"Don't get me wrong the WII lack control over the control(no re map options or playing old games with the WIIs controls) add to it lack luster VC system that normal emulation still runs circles around option wise and the last thing wrong with the WII is the motion controls feel tacted on half the time, all in all the system is worth the price but tis no more prefect than the rest."
I do not fancy the limitations of the Wii Remote. Additionally, I feel the Virtual Console is for R-tards because you can download all those games for free-FREE- off the internets. Just use The Google. It's the truth!
Swinging back to my complaints about the Wii Remote, I also feel that the controls are hit-and-miss. However, I still am of the opinion that the Wii is of a reasonable value to the average consumer.
"btw the PS3 is still a over priced media machine and a joke as a game machine."
The PlayStation3 costs too much money and has no games.
Jackson Pritt @ Jul 2nd 2007 5:17PM
Too bad this game won't have any online play at all.
Way to step up to the plate and not give consumers exactly what they want, multiplayer and ONLINE CAPABILITY. I wish I could think that the delay was so that they could add a multiplayer mode, but Nintendo never keeps big news hush-hush.
Mr Khan @ Jul 2nd 2007 5:31PM
@ Jackson
Please:
Nintendo always keeps the biggest news under raps
And if it weren't Retro Studios developing this, i would say that E3 would surprise us, but i trust Retro to stick to their dislike of Multiplayer Metroid
Unless they get NST on developing it...
Blizz4l9 @ Jul 2nd 2007 6:32PM
If they Don't add online multiplayer to this title it will be one of Nintendo's biggest mistakes and won't sell as well as it will with Online, but i believe they will have online why would they add online multiplayer to the DS metroid but not the Wii version, they are probably just waiting till E3 to announce it.
Luke @ Jul 2nd 2007 7:48PM
I don't really care, because I still have to finish Metroid prime, and prime 2 lol. It will give me an extra week to finish them games.
GD86 @ Jul 2nd 2007 10:26PM
@32
Adding online or multiplayer simply for the sake of having it isn't always the best idea. Metroid is designed to be a single player first person adventure game. Not the biggest twitch shooter. Better to not have crappy multiplayer like there was in Prime 2 then to have it.
I don't think it will actually affect sales that much if it doesn't. People will probably be buying it for the adventure part then just the shooting.
kimoy @ Jul 2nd 2007 11:39PM
Mr BoomStick XL
clearly its selling 400 thousand a month in the US becuase it is capturing a audience neither the ps3 adn 360 cant touch while still getting some sales from the hardcore market.. plus what does the wii sales have to do with this post?
