If you're like us, there was one primary factor in your choice of high-definition disc formats: the availability of Dragon's Lair. By that logic, we were siding with Blu-ray for awhile, but now we're just ambivalent.
An HD-DVD version of Dragon's Lair is coming August 15 for $29.99, the same price as the Blu-ray incarnation. O, what are we to do? We can't decide, so we'll just stick to our DS version, thank you very much.

Sony wants to get us all locked into their monopoly control so that they can impose newer and more devious forms of DRM and hardware crippling protection schemes that make you buy what they want you to buy. Does not one else think it unethical for a movie studio to control the medium on which you get movies from all other studios? What happens if Sony decides to edge out an upstart indie studio by blocking their licensing? Sony has no right control how we watch our movies, especially those coming from other companies.

Slow news day.. you guys on holiday or what?

your right there jesse. Sony doesn't have that right. The movie studios are the ones deciding what format to choose. So far, all but one chose blu ray.
fyi, there are more companies than just Sony in the Blu ray Disc association.

@2 Konny
That is either a joke or you're not from the USA. It's our Independence Day.
I tried using the floppy disk version but gave up on it.

So, how much is Toshiba paying you to spread this misinformation?

Staying on topic - I assume this will work with the 360's HD-DVD player?

That is incorrect spin.
1 Studio chose Blu-Ray, 1 Studio chose HD DVD and everyone else is sitting on the fence.
You could make the statement that all but 1 chose HD DVD and it would have just as much truth as what you said.

Dragon's Lair was announced for both hi-def formats quite some time ago (and at the same time, as far as I know), so I don't think this is news.
The HD DVD version has been listed on Amazon for many months now. Probably the Blu-Ray also, but I only follow the HD DVD releases.

Blu-Ray has exclusive support of Lionsgate, Disney Studios, Fox Studios, Sony Studios (obviously), and MGM. HD DVD only has exclusive support from Universal and the Weinstein Company. Everyone else (Paramount, Warner Bros, etc.) are neutral, although both Paramount and Warner Bros were both previously exclusive to HD DVD before becoming neutral

Why aren't people boycotting universal?
If they just went neutral this whole format war
would be over.

While Weinstein is currently supporting HD DVD, they aren't exclusive, have publically stated they would support Blu-ray (with some ESPN garbage, but that fell through it seems). The PS3 is getting the game Stranglehold bundled with the movie Hardboiled in a special offer, from Weinstein.

hemmy,
the stranglehold game includes the SD version of hardboiled, not the HD version of the movie, and it's on the same disc as the game, not bundled.
correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm right
