UK publisher 505 Games announced today
I Did It Mum!, a collection of
educational mini-games aimed at preschool boys and girls. The DS title will come in two separate versions, one for each gender, and feature games such as "toy train", "drive the car", "color the animals", and "little kitchen".
I Did It Mum! even has a voice recording option that allows parents to record a congratulatory message (or, for kicks, nonsensical sounds to confuse and/or delight) that will be played when
mini-games are complete. Even though it's aimed at preschoolers, we're sure your average gamer would still get a kick out of playing house in "little kitchen".

perfect. my daughter's getting tired of cooking mama. Since she's only 4, she can't fully read yet so alot of games...even the simpler ones all have some sort of text to read. Adding my voice for positive reinforcement is topping on the cake.

This game isn't hardcore enough for a man like me, so it'll obviously suck.
JodyAnthony @ Jul 5th 2007 9:33AM

These graphix are the SUCK, you can't even see the pores on their skin.
Looks like nintendon't understand next gen gaming. Their idea is the next generation of kidz, lollers
Tick one up on the "kiddie gamez" counter for Wii I mean DS
In all seriousness I don't see the point of games for 4 year olds. Kids that young can barely understand marketing let alone "want" this game that bad.
Just teach them starcraft and send them to a private school in korea so one day they can pay for your retirement.

At four I played Super Mario Bros. 1 and couldn't make it past the first Bowser. I shot right at the TV to hit the ducks two thirds of the time. So yeah Nintendo gets them hooked early.
StrangeBum @ Jul 5th 2007 10:33AM
Wow..first few comments and only madc has something positive to say...and ironically he posted first without the obligatory 'teh first post!!11! pwnage'
IMHO though, like Jody said this does somewhat finalize the fact that Nintendo does in fact cater to the younger demographics as opposed to the core age of 18-34 or whatever it is these days.
But I do think that this is a really great tool for helping busy parents keep their children busy while also helping them to learn. If your child is going to play a DS it might as well be one of these games instead of New Super Mario Bros., which the only thing I learned from that was that if you eat big yellow mushrooms you transform into a giant 8-pixel reincarnation of yourself.

@Jonathan Tran
You're missing the point. This game was obviously created for the purpose of getting children hooked on addictive murder simulators. In this case, you're murdering poor hamsters by feeding them too much.
Se7en anyone?
StrangeBum @ Jul 5th 2007 10:35AM
...uh-oh..I honestly meant 8-bit reincarnation of yourself..honest.

@6 No joke, I was put on Starcraft when I was like...5? Ah, good times.
Roddie @ Jul 5th 2007 12:40PM
This is game is won't be helping the 4 year-olds with their English anyway; it should be "I Did It, Mum!".

I am sure that I will get this for my little guys! It is nice when there is something they can play!
Mr Mobius @ Jul 5th 2007 12:45PM
Super Mario Land 1 and 2 on Gameboy were my games as a kid. Barely any reading needed, and they were top quality games. I later got Donkey Kong Land 3 and it was also good quality, though never mastered it til few years later. Musta ctually get out Gameboy and complete that game. It was quality.
Anam @ Jul 5th 2007 1:56PM
The games I played most as a kid were Lode Runner and Buzzard Bait on my Apple 2e. Buzzard Bait rocked! ...I think... it's been a while.
I then switched to Mule on my friend's Commodore 64 and later got a Nintendo and played Super Mario Bros. and Dragon Warrior 1 & 2. Also played Civilization on my PC.
Oh, and King's Quest.
Okay, I'm rambling now...
EdgeofBlade @ Jul 5th 2007 2:25PM
No no no! When I was a kid, games didn't stoop to my left. I rose to theirs! I never played edutainment. I played real games... and I benefited from them.
This is going to make a generation of Tele-tubby gamers, who speak in baby talk and feed hamsters for fun. Move forward in the evolutionary chain, not backwards!!!
