New MGS4 trailer debuting at E3, Sony and Konami keynotes

Of course, Konami also showed off new trailers for Snake's latest adventure at last year's E3 and TGS expos (both conveniently embedded after the break) so we're not entirely shocked. We suppose the lack of a Microsoft conference screening shouldn't come as a surprise either ... but we're still not convinced.

man.. well even thou we all knew something was coming, is better to know FOR SURE that we're getting some news.. i do like sony giving out big surprises but i'm glad i know this already.
i just got done playing MGS2, and just started playing MGS3, i still can't believe how good these games are, i end up comparing most new games to mgs, there's just something about all the options that you have that work out so great.. i really love the series..
the more i watch the trailers the more i see that this game was made for the ps3.. meaning they talk about the Cell Engine, the ps3 logo only, and kojima saying that he needs a the 50gb bluray, why the author of this post says "he's still not convinced"? along with the other fanbase, even thou there is no signs we get the whole mgs4 going to 360 like every day.
And to that add.. "we have not made this game thinking, oh we have to do this for the 360" i mean what else do they want to hear, anyhow.. i really don't care, cause i know that if it was to happen, it would be 2 years down the road.. and even if it was 3 months later i don't care, why would i care if it goes to the 360, because it would damage sales? what do i care, i still have mine.. anyhow
what i don't like is people just hating on the ps3 the whole time because the ps3 it's becoming a great console, and people can't seem to accept that and they bash it, like it's really gonna change something.

I think my 360 just got replaced as my primary entertainment system. I shall now spend several hours a day surfing fourms and threads to read the not-so-well constructed comments people make. Hooray for another installment into the most boring stealth franchise ever. And I say this as a person who's played the other Metal Gear games and had to review the last one (which I actually gave four stars to, not letting my personal bias actually get in the way, please note). This, like the Gran Turismo franchise, has never gotten me excited in the least. To say it'll be a "system seller" or anything of that note is rather silly. Sony's at the point now where they're going to have to have a whole slew of games that people across the board will want to play, not just "fans of a series."
I feel the exact same way about the Halo series, too. In that I can't get excited about it at all and would much rather play some other FPS. These games will sell like crazy, undoubtedly, but I don't honestly see them making that big of a difference in console sales for either side. Sony needs the price cut and more games all around. Microsoft is doing well on the games front. I think they just need a few more casual-friendly titles under their belt that aren't tied in to the latest Pixar movie. XBLA has gone in the right direction with this idea, but more boxed games need to be produced as well that everyone can enjoy. Note, I haven't once said that the 360 is nothing but a FPS console, because it isn't and anyone who's ever played or enjoyed the system knows this.
Inevitably, though, once price cuts start, MS definitely has a nice library to pick from, and despite the whole "33%" failure rate" hoo-ha, a damn entertaining system that covers all sorts of bases nicely. It will surely look appealing to those who may not have bought a next gen console yet with a price cut. And Nintendo...well they're doing just fine on their own terms.

I doubt we'll ever see MGS4 on the 360. It could happen...but it's not very likely.

concerning MGS4 going multi-platform, as a PS3 fan, i'd like to keep it on the PS3.
why? because it's being built from the ground up and optimized for the PS3.
as a future 360 owner, i would not like to see MGS4 on the 360.
why? because i'll already own it on my PS3.
what 360 fans should be more excited about, is the numerous times Hideo Kojima has said that he'd like to make an entirely *NEW IP on the 360, one that takes advantages of it's unique properties.
why go after a PS3 title, when you can have your own original game to make us PS3 owners feel jealous about.
MGS4 has the potential to sell tons of PS3s, right?
imagine what a Kojima developed 360 exclusive would do to 360 sales over in Japan.

all of this multi-platform overlap is what's making it very hard for me to pick up a 360 (besides hardware failure issues).
so far, Bioshock, Mass Effect, and Fable 2 are on the list, but three titles are not enough. especially when compared to the titles i'm for certain picking up for my PS3:

Ratchet and Clank Future
Warhawk (was in the beta, and i'm most definitely buying this game. i had no interest in it all before i got to try it)
Folklore (love the demo. really excited about this game)
Heavenly Sword (played it at E3 last year. sold on it)
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Little Big Planet
Heavy Rain (or whatever the Quantic Dream exclusive is; i *LOVED Indigo Prophecy)
White Knight Story
not to mention PS3 incarnations of Jak and Daxter, God of War, Sly Cooper, Shadow of the Colossus (Ico), Siren, and Monster Hunter. and LA Noire from Rockstar has me intrigued.
and sequels to new franchises like Resistance and Motorstorm.
that's roughly 19 exclusive titles, versus the three for the 360 that i'm really, *REALLY excited about.
the PS3 simply has the games that appeal to my tastes, while the 360 is still primarily a shooter house.
i played Viva Pinata (booooring), i played Crackdown (great game, but not a system seller for me), i've played Gears of War (Resistance is better. Gears has the graphics, but Resistance has the *GAMEPLAY. and pretty flawless online; ie, no lag, 40 people simultaneous, etc).
i love RPGs and Action/Adventure titles, to name only two genres, and the PS3 looks to have those games in store come years end, and well into next year.
the 360 is a great machine, but it doesn't have what i want.
other folks would say the same about the PS3. it's all according to our own personal tastes.
why people (especially on joystiq) want to sh*t on other people's personal preference is beyond me.
the PS3 is a great system as well. it's only been out 7 months and hasn't yet shown us what it can do.
hell, Gears of War wasn't built in a day (last i checked, it came out a *YEAR after the 360 launched. not launch day, not 3 months later, a full 12 months).
give the PS3 some slack.
by the time the heavy hitters get released, i'm sure the system will have dropped by $50-$100 bucks.

Here in the UK you can pick up ps3 games for about £20 on ebay & Blu-Ray movies for about £10. I picked up RFOM for £18 @ Play.com.
I also used a discount to pre-order Assissins Creed for £27 @ a place I cant mention here.

You've got an inflammatory username. It's akin to someone posting under the name 'SonyPR-NoLieUntold". Yes, there may be some merit to the claim, but anything you post will be disregarded by all but the most stalwart anti-360 enthusiasts as fanboyish, regardless of how true it is.
It's a disservice to yourself - if you're really posting in a serious frame of mind, you shouldn't be using a username that drags you down to the level of the posters you take issue with.
Use a name that doesn't preemptively draw a line in the sand that forces readers to decide whether or not they're even going to give your comment a chance - you'll find people more receptive to what you have to say.

Wow, look up Blast Processors... then come back. And as for Kojima's need for movies space? Well, I don't know... considering no MGS yet has used movies, don't know WHY MGS4 will be the start. Especially since Kojima-san has been all about "this is realtime." Majority of his insistance of the 50GB comes from his severe hatred of compression.

Kojima has constantly shot down the 360 rumors, demands a ton of space, and said he hated having gamers switch discs in the original. Konami has constantly stated MGS4 is PS3 only. So I guess I gotta ask you this...

Why is it the PS3bashers keep saying "no games, no games, no games?" I mean, when I bought my PS3, I could empathise. Took it home, plugged it in, turned it on. You're right, it had no games. But then I broke the plastic seal on Ridge Racer 7 and then magically, it had a game. In fact, I hate how with the PS3, you actually have to GO to a store and buy a game to play on it. Video games should be like a radio, you know? You bought the radio, why can't you just tune into games? I mean, this aspect is completely unlike my 360 experience. You know, when I bought it and all games get magically transmitted into my console. Hell, right now? I'm playing Gears Of War 3.... fucktard.
