Over on Beyond Unreal, Death Booger mentions that August's OXM demo disc features a look at a few of the multiplayer maps that'll ship with Unreal Tournament 3. Among the pretty in-game videos are a few details about UT3 including confirmation that the game will ship with three to four dozen multiplayer maps. And, if our math is correct, that works out to be around 36 to 48 multiplayer maps on launch day and on the disc! The maps will of course vary in size, player count, etc., but the shear amount of variety should satisfy any Unreal enthusiast. Here's to hoping the "dozens" remarks holds true when the game ships as that would seriously put Shadowrun's nine maps to shame.

Too bad Digital Extremes isn't part of this project. They always made the better UT maps, gameplay wise. Let's hope Epic's new "BSP first, static meshes second" methodology does some good.

ZOMG TEH DVD9 JUST CANT HANDLE SUCH NUMBER OF MAPS. ITS GOING TO EXPLODE IN YALLZ SYSTEMS LOLZ
Haha, nice to see we're getting a hefty chunk of content :) The PS3 version will have those 48 maps duplicated another 48 times and copied to your HDD 24 times to reduce the seeking of the Blu-Ray drive.

That's right. No crapping on Shadowrun. The developer put it incredibly well when he said that Chess hasn't needed a new map for hundreds of years and it hasn't gotten old yet.
And of course Unreal 3 will have tons of maps. That's UT tradition. What will REALLY be amazing is if they give 360 gamers a map editor.

The question is: will there be players to fill those maps on the 360? My guess is no. Most Unreal players will be on PC while 360 FPS players will be on Halo 3 for the next year or more.

UT2004 had quite a few maps, IIRC. I think this is just a case of console gamers not being used to being spoiled. ;> I'll be picking up UT3 on the PC, but I'm glad more people will be getting a shot at it.

ha. Ha. HAAAHAHHHAA!! Comparing Shadowrun to Chess?! You have got to be joking.
Seriously, tell the "developer" of shadowrun to go back in his hole for a year or so and finish the damn game. Maybe he should come out of the closet while he's at it, cause that game is a little light in it's step.

This is not a game I compare with Shadowrun at all. Shadowrun is more in league with Halo and in that sense puts halo's gameplay 2 shame.
Unreal has always been a competer against Quake though. The new quake looks like, well it looks like ass. This game is going to be amazing. Too bad PS3 dosnt have a better online network to fully enjoy the game like us 360 owners.
