Bleach pours out of Japan; Wii, DS games coming to US, Europe
Games based on the popular anime Bleach are coming to the US and Europe by way of Sega, according to a press release. Both Shattered Blade (Wii) and The Blade of Fate (DS) have been out since 2006, and the DS title has a sequel that came out five months ago.Having played a Bleach DS game at the Tokyo Game Show last year, even without knowing much about the anime I have to say I was impressed by the fighter. Both games are due out in North America this fall and Europe in early 2008.

for those of you who don't know, Bleach = Dragonball Z + swords.
Crono @ Jul 9th 2007 10:44AM
Yeah, and with decent humor, no powerup time, no aliens, and no dragonballs.
So yeah, nothing like dragonball Z other than it being an anime with over-the-top fights.

I dunno, I'd be tempted to use Ken, then call the game broken when someone actually hurts me.
Joshua @ Jul 6th 2007 11:27PM
Ha, Fuzzmosis...
Anyway, everything I've heard says the DS Bleach games are some of the best games on the system (and the best Bleach games of all), so I am DEFINITELY looking forward to these releases.
Thank you for bringing them over, SEGA!

Back when I was younger I was very much into watching Dragonaball (Z) and other anime on Toonami..yay for Cartoon Network, but as I grew I became more interested in more sophisticated (if you can say that) anime like Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop and such.
Bleach is the first anime that I have watched in a long while that I actually enjoy, much like I did with DBZ. And so far, I'm highly disappointed with video game adaptions of such anime. But I have heard great things about the DS games...
Anime FTW!!
Emceay @ Jul 6th 2007 11:51PM
It's about time..
I'd say Naruto is closer to DBZ than Bleach. Then again, Goku never really gets too deep about why he's such a badass; he just is. Naruto and Ichigo have a lot more character development IMO. Goku never reflects on the fact that he's an alien, he just denies it throughout the whole series until he busts a super sayajin and then suddenly he's all about it.

@ Emceay
Kind of like the way that Ichigo never reflects on the fact that he's a Hollow, he just denies it throughout the whole series until he turns into one when he's almost dead and then suddenly he's all about it?

@ retromancer
Kind of like the way YOU SHOULD SHUT UP.
jk lawl
Anyway, I'm glad I'm not going to have to import these after all.

I hate Bleach.
But I love Treasure (the developer of the DS games). So, I may end up picking up the DS one anyways.
The Wii one? Pass.
Kazi @ Jul 7th 2007 1:51AM
If it weren't for the dev being Treasure I never would have picked the Bleach DS games up, but I did and I'm happy with them. Probably my most played game on the DS.
BTW, the picture you have here is from BleachDS2nd which isn't the game being brought over here (probably will be next year though).
cyberfrog @ Jul 7th 2007 2:10AM
I've played both ds Bleach games. In terms of fighting games, somewhat similar to guilty gears, but has a few unique characteristics as well. All in all, quite good. As you get better at the game, the first bleach game does have some imbalances, but the 2nd worked on those while adding new characters. Also, 4 player multiplayer, not bad. Definately worth checking out and probably the best fighter on the ds, although i haven't played much with shonen jump allstarsl.
Trizero @ Jul 7th 2007 3:45AM
Yeah, the DS games rock, I got the 1st one, tried the second one. Honestly, I REALLY wanna buy the second one. You can play as a Menos Grande. The screen zooms out until everyone else is just a speck. Holy crap, skip the 1st one, gimme Kokui Hirameku Chinkon Uta!
penas @ Jul 7th 2007 7:36AM
dbz= shit
bleach not so much
BPM @ Jul 7th 2007 12:23PM
DBZ was good, at least until the point where the Frieza saga dragged on for too long.
There's nothing good about Bleach (anime or manga wise). Tito Kubo is a hack.
There, I said it.
Clarence @ Jul 7th 2007 12:24PM
finally a fighter game for DS. Why has it taken so long for a fighting game to come out on this handheld.
kraoro @ Jul 7th 2007 1:34PM
"finally a fighter game for DS. Why has it taken so long for a fighting game to come out on this handheld [outside of America]"
Japan has had both games for quite a while now. Also, you could have easily imported one or both. The language barrier is not so bad.
Mr Khan @ Jul 7th 2007 6:34PM
I said it before, I'll play it just to knock that idiotic smirk off of Captain Gin Ichimaru's face
And for some reason i've had BOTH Bleach theme songs that they've used so far stuck in my head
Crono @ Jul 9th 2007 10:46AM
Have you watched all the fansubs? There's an entire story arc devoted to just that.
Crono @ Jul 9th 2007 10:47AM
That was suppost to be in reference to Kenny's hollow comment
