First video of Gears of War for PC, here and gone in 10 minutes

This is NOT Xbox 360. I even have proof (sorry for the size, I got it from the YouTube video)

As you can see, the achievement bar looks nothing like the 360's but it looks just like the one for PC Halo 2 and Shadowrun.

One possibility that nobody has mentioned yet could be the, yes this is a PC version (as you can see the "Achievement Unlocked" symbol being the gray box at the bottom of the screen rather than the nice green circle from the 360) but that it's an entirely separate campaign and not just "extra" content. Such as Far Cry between PC and Xbox, or a game like Splinter Cell Double Agent with the difference between the 360 version and the Xbox 1 version.

I really don't care what it is. Hell, I'd buy it even if it were exactly the same as the 360 version because I love the game to death.

Oh man. Now I can't wait for season 3 of The Venture Bros. all over again.

This is why I plan to get a PS3.

I can always play Halo 3, Alan Wake, Bioshock, and now, hopefully, Gears of Wars when I buy a gaming P.C. later on.

Yeah, that makes it impossible for someone to go into a store, pick-up the game, and buy it. Its also not even the same game anymore, apparently. Its like, its not even the same game on the 360 and the PC.

not to sound like a dick, but it'll probably take a hell of alot more than the low-mid range gpu that comes in a macbook pro to run gears of war on PC.

Do yourself a favor and buy a real PC that actually allows you to upgrade individual parts rather than spending $3000 on the latest "proprietary hardware fashionbook pro" every 2 years. You'll get alot more gaming out of it, and you'll save a bundle in the process.

Okay, I really don't understand why people attack MS for bringing their AAA titles to PC. First of all, if Halo is any indication, it will be at least 2008 before we see Gears of War on PC. By then 360 will be salivating at the mouth over Gears 2 and they won't even care about Gears PC. Second of all, the amount of hardware it would take to enjoy Gears on PC would be equal to the cost of what? Two or Three XBOX360's?

I really don't get the idea of saying it's not worth buying a 360 because you can probably play most of the AAA games on PC somewhere down the road. Like I said. A 360 is hundreds of dollars cheaper than even a mid-range gaming rig. So paying hundreds of more dollars to play a 360 games 6 months to a year after it's console release is totally a reason NOT to buy a 360 right? If anything, it's MORE of a reason to buy one.

I'll put it this way. Zelda, Mario, F-Zero, Punch-Out!, Metroid, etc. are all coming out on the Wii now through the virtual console. I can't believe I wasted my money on an NES back in 86'. I totally could have just waited and got them for Wii instead.

Console exclusive means you cannot purchase the game (GoW in this case) on another console. Not everyone is a PC and console gamer. Assuming so is idiotic.

I would think that they would show off GoW2 this year at E3.. Didnt they say Halo and GoW will alternate years of release.. With Halo 3 comming out this Fall, wouldnt that make GoW2's release for 2008.. Maybe there will be NO GoW1 for PC and GoW2 will be CrossPlat. or Id even go the length to say that the PC version would be a collectors edition containing GoW 1&2

Did you miss the 50+ comments of people explaing how at 0.23 in the video, you can clearly see the "achievment unlocked" which is the animation for the PC and not the 360. This confirms right here that it was on pc and that it will be a games for windows title (vista only)

Damn, I can see it now, with all the maps/mods to comes out for Gears on PC, it's gonna be great. Talk about extra content, if it's anything like UT, which it will given Epic's outstanding toolsets, Gears on PC will be a must own.

gears is not coming out on the pc. So don't believe that it is even the footage shows it is not on the pc because if you look at the bottom of the screen when it says to pick up a weapon or to switch cover the xbox A, and X shows up not pc.
If anything epic is covering the tracks cause of the leaked gameplay for gears of war 2

Exactly, I have both those games you mention. By the way, if you look closely at the achievement popup, it says [home] achievement unlock. just like the games for windows version. home being the key to open up the live guide.

Microsoft is killing it's 360 by making a buck on their Vista bullshit. Every big title for the 360 is also available on the 360. Everyone has a computer already,so what's the incentive to have anyone actually buy a 360 if they can get it on the PC they already own?

hell, if you could plug in a mouse and keyboard in a console and use the mouse to aim as if in a pc so i could do a whole 180 degree turn in half a second and get a headshot.. if i could download mods to a game to change the models, guns, added places, total conversions that basically change the whole game etc,... if i could download free game that re just as good as retail and that thousands play... if I didnt need that damn cd to play more than half single player and all the online games i own..and if i could have not only games but music, videos, files, pictures, wallpaper, user preference looks and configs.. I would go console.

Too bad it's going to be Vista exclusive.

I tried the Lost Planet demo, DX10, Vista for PC and was pretty disappointed. My PC isn't bleeding edge but it's pretty good, hell has 8 times the RAM of a 360, still I had to turn everything to half or even the lower settings to get framerates over 30. Turning everything up all the way netted me 3 FPS and the like. BF2 goes all the way and I still get 99 FPS.

Point being, I'd rather play PC-specific games on my computer (Crysis, COD4) than ports of things originally for an Xbox. And play console-first games on the 360. $400 for a console that will play every game, out of the box, no f'ing around, for 4-5 years is a lot less than it'll cost to future-proof your PC.

They better let us XP users in on this GoW PC version.. I'm not going to be buying Vista.

It's not Gears of War 2, Epic has already said straight out on their own forums they haven't started working on it, they're not done with Gears 1.

In Gears, when you're playing through the mansion missing, and the Brumak is about to shows up, you can glitch off the map and find the Brumak making it's run/walk toward the mansion. When it gets to the Fenix mansion, the scripting takes over the camera and everything, but the Brumak REALLY IS THERE.

So, what you're looking, a 1200 point addon to the single player campaign.


Cliffy said they wanted to Brumak in the game and just didn't have the time for it.

How is it for pc when i see xbox 360 buttons appearing on it all the time . Take another look and see the icon that appears for a weapon pick up and the A button icon to get out of cover.

When you plug in the Xbox360 controller the game automatically adjusts the messages. Halo2 and shadowrun already do this. Read the Games for Windows criteria all the games with the moniker have to support the controller.

It's because...it's a console port! Lost Planet PC's demo had no keyboard keys on screen, just their gamepad equivalents. It got mostly fixed for the final version though.

Personally I love how Microsoft offers PC quality shooters to me, someone who doesn't like the expensive world of PC gaming and prefers consoles.

Hey PC fanboys, it should have better graphics on pc because it came out a year ago. It would look better on 360 after a year of extra development. PC hardware has also had a year of advancements and a new video card costs more than a 360. Are the graphical enhancements worth 2000 to 3000 dollars?

Get your prices straight. If you go for broke and build a high end pc its more like $1200-$1500 thats from the ground up dual/quad core the works.

If you go the upgrade route the price can be similar to that of the xbox360. a new cpu and a video card is about the same price. around like $500-600.

If you want to get nitpicky, what about the cost of a high quality HDTV LCD/plasma/DLP tv to run xbox360 at its best quality.

To be honest I don't care what platform people play their games on, I just want to get my fair share on the platform I have put my investment into be it a PC or a Console.

Not to point this at the poster, I am sure just like myself everyone is getting fed up of the constant whinning about games. They are meant to be enjoyed not to be some badge of honor that entitles a group to be snotty to another platform.

Seeing as I won't be able to afford acomputer that can even come close to running this for a while, I demand some Brumak DLC NOW.

I don't really see how this affects much anyway. It's a PC, not a console. I paid $400 for my 360... To have a Vista capbable machine, enough RAM on top of that, Vista in the first place and a good GPU would cost me a hell of a lot more money. I mean, if you already have a PC like that, good for you... but the average console owner likely does not.

I've been playing this game since like, what, November? Is it really going to hurt the 360 or anyone if it appears on a PC? No. As far as I'm concerned console exclusive is enough. It's not like it's hitting PS3 or Wii. Smaller sales on PC are going to mean nothing. If anything happens at all it will HELP the 360 version out because there will likely be cross platform play possible over Live on PC.

MS's new DLC policy also states that if content appears for free elsewhere then if it shows up for 360 it can't be charged for either. Hence the recent free maps for Rainbow Six. So I can't really get upset about that angle either.

I'm not really understanding what the problem is. Sure, a lot of 360 games are also hitting PC, but so what. There's still a good amount of exclusives that have no PC counterpart announced in any way... and if they appear almost a year later like this likely would, who cares.
