New BioShock video appears, narrated by Ken Levine
Does this request pain us? Of course it does. Look at that video, you think our heart doesn't ache when we see the player using telekinesis to reposition a tripwire? Do you think we don't cry a little bit when a dude gets frozen and then shattered with a wrench? As hard as it is for us though, perhaps, much like Russia nipping at America's heels in the race to the moon, we need the inspiration of BioShock being at some point in a time that we can not reach to lead us forward to greatness.

Daniel @ Jul 6th 2007 9:38AM
Did someone say time travel?
Just freeze yourself like I'm doing.
See y'all in August.
jason @ Jul 6th 2007 9:41AM
I already saw this video like a week ago I just don't remember what website I saw it on so it isn't that new. This game looks so great it just sucks that I can't afford it with all the other good games coming out around then.
jason @ Jul 6th 2007 9:56AM
Yea this video was on gamevideos June 21st, the new one is just in HD
Big Ed @ Jul 6th 2007 9:57AM
Hey joystiq, would you please not use Gamevideos on your website anymore, their player is a piece of trash. Use gametrailers or youtube instead.
Dustin @ Jul 6th 2007 10:04AM
But what if someone smashes you with a wrench, Daniel, that'll screw your precious plan huh
Jake @ Jul 6th 2007 10:05AM
The video is new to me. The game looks sweet. At first, I thought some of these gameplay elements they were introducing would end up being gimmicky. Now I think they will rule. Can't wait for this thing.
synce @ Jul 6th 2007 10:09AM
As great as it looks I can already see that this is one of those games that you'll play only once and never touch again. You'll just admire it there on the shelf. In that sense it's kind of like Ico or Metroid Prime. No sale for me though. Not at $60.
Jonathan Tran @ Jul 6th 2007 10:17AM
@8 I completely agree
There is almost no point to buying these epic FPS adventures. At least HL2 came with counter strike source, right?
Xvalue @ Jul 6th 2007 10:22AM
ummm......old much?
jimy @ Jul 6th 2007 10:41AM
Wow, just wow.
gonzo @ Jul 6th 2007 10:50AM
this is old...do they have a new blogger or something?
Mike Brauner @ Jul 6th 2007 10:51AM
hmmm.. i was really excited for this game but with each new video released i get a bit less excited. I'm hoping this thing turns out alright - the big daddy concept is a god one.
Ed @ Jul 6th 2007 10:52AM
at this point, i think it's safe to assume that all these multiplayer fanatics are your little 8 or 9 year old brothers.
Ed @ Jul 6th 2007 10:53AM
of course, if you need to be sarcastic, use CAPS
ScottG13 @ Jul 6th 2007 11:02AM
@synce
Lion Games has it for $39.99 preorder for now.
http://www.liongames.com/default.cfm/page/preorder/
Daniel @ Jul 6th 2007 11:08AM
ScottG13: Only for the 360. No thanks.
ssuk @ Jul 6th 2007 11:31AM
$40 for a 360 game? Damn... Hope these devs do us Euros a favour and don't region lock the US version, I'd so easily buy the US collectors edition for half the price of the UK collectors edition for 360. =/
Vince @ Jul 6th 2007 11:51AM
this video is OLLLLD. awesome, but old none the less.
Yoshi @ Jul 6th 2007 11:51AM
I might have to pre-order GTAIV from that site... $40 for it... quite tempting.
Xvalue @ Jul 6th 2007 12:12PM
he probably meant to link to the new walkthrough video at gametrailers. http://gametrailers.com/player/21277.html
Pisces @ Jul 6th 2007 12:15PM
WEAK, When the price of this game is 20 dollars, then wake me up.
Back to sleep i go. (Dreaming of better games to buy: Persona 3,The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass,Super Robot Taisen OG: Original Generations)
sickface @ Jul 6th 2007 12:33PM
@Pisces
Do you even like games? Or maybe you think you're cool because you only like Japanese games? Wake me up when you stop being a dipshit.
jason @ Jul 6th 2007 12:33PM
@Xvalue
the gametrailers one isn't new it came out june 21st on gamevideos its the same one on here
Babel @ Jul 6th 2007 1:31PM
Who cares how old it is! It's so cool!
But I agree with synce. It's a once-through kinda game. Won't stop it being awesome though.
eboku01 @ Jul 6th 2007 2:01PM
the whole FPS genre needs more games like this.
bm @ Jul 6th 2007 3:05PM
No multiplayer = no sale.
Irrational Games don't care about hardcore gamers!!!

I do enjoy games, but i don't play games that are just eye candy and nothing else. I'm not a graphics whore like most gamers today.
Also, i don't think i'm cool because i only play japanese games. There just better most of the time.
So F you.
Daniel @ Jul 6th 2007 5:00PM
bm: No multiplayer, no problem! Who wants to play against some other losers on the internet when theres an entire underwater city to explore?!
Irrational didn't do very well with Tribes Vengence so I'm sort of relieved there's no multiplayer.
Pisces: If you think Bioshock is all about graphics, you obviously haven't watched the trailers.
You just don't want it because the Japanese you idolize so much don't like FPS games.
John @ Jul 6th 2007 5:14PM
It is a shame this game isn't coming to PS3...
In a few years, when I can I afford a decent P.C., I will be sure to pick up Bioshock, Halo 3, and Alan Wake.
Daniel @ Jul 6th 2007 5:18PM
John: At least you get The Darkness. That game needs to be ported to PC.
>:|
bm @ Jul 6th 2007 5:25PM
Daniel: you don't get it! Multiplayer = the game! Multiplayer = hardcore! Multiplayer was the only reason for me to buy this game and now they've removed it, how annoying!
*cough* I hope I'm laying it on thick enough this time...
Hawke @ Jul 6th 2007 5:30PM
I like the video - it shows a bit as to how different situations can be used. The interactive environment is a definite plus.
The only thing that irks me is the gun animation/graphics - it comes off as very... lackluster in a way. Everything else looks great.
And while paying $30 less on Lions... I actually want that damn figurine of Big Daddy. If the pre-order was for that and $20 cheaper, hell yea, I'd settle for that. If anything, I'm curios as to why its only listed as $40 there....
Even if it is just a "one time play," I'd likely still get it - and hold onto it. Aside from Fusion, I've kept every Metroid game to date; and a game with re-playability that doesn't have some form of multiplayer is typically difficult to find..
If anything, I just hope for a decent amount of gameplay; if it has more than Deus Ex, I'd be content with that, but would love something closer to 20 hours of gameplay.
Daniel @ Jul 6th 2007 5:39PM
bm: Oh... SARCASM. Now I get it!
OMGZ first Metroid Prime 3 and now Bioshock!!111
Why do they even announce multiplayer if they're just going to pull it?!
[/dripping with sarcasm]
ch0rx @ Jul 6th 2007 6:48PM
the more I hear from this game the more I want it.
