50% MMO + 50% RPG = MMORPG

So...it's an MMORPG.

Story is the worst part of a MMORPG. The last thing I'd want is a story. It'd be the same story for everyone. "I'm trying to vanquish the evil vampire king." "Yeah? I did that last month. You should try vanquishing the evil orc lord--now that's a challenge..."

I always end up giving up on every MMORPG because, no matter what you do, someone else has already done it. No matter what you find, someone else has already found it. In single-player games, you're the most important person. In MMORPGs, you're just a loser--because you don't play for 18 hours a day like all the level-60 twelve-year olds.

You mean Square-Enix? Mistwalker has nothing to do with Dragon Quest.

But as for this game, I hope it's not as I heard Phantasy Star Universe was -- two separate games, one offline and one online. He should make some RPG with a seamless transition between online and offline.

I'm excited about Blue Dragon, I'm excited about Lost Odyssey, I'm excited about Cry On....now I'm excited about this too. Mistwalker, while I haven't even played any of their games yet they seem to be making the games that I want to play.

I like the direction that Sakaguchi is moving in with all of his games so far. And I'm desperately looking for something to replace WoW..nothing else seems to be very appealing, I hope that Mistwalker is able to change that, as long as they work it through XBL fine.

YAY!!

@ T

I don't think they need to beat to beat out pokemon to be rich, I think that you could do a lot worse that pokemon and still be rich.

Ummmmmmm...

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker was one of the few third party games to actually break a million on DS. If that's a failure, I would love to see some of that sometime.

On the other hand.... ummm, DQ is SquareEnix. Mistwalker is a bunch of people who left SE and they got Akira Toriyami to do the designs for Blue Dragon. Personally, not a big fan of his style. All the characters look alike and all of them suffer from peglegitis. But Toriyami also did the designs for DQ and even Chrono Trigger.

I'd be pretty glad to hear if there was an mmorpg made by Mistwalker. I honestly enjoy the human-interaction aspect of mmorpgs.

Sure, level-grinding is boring but I love questing with friends, guild mates of even just random people you meet in the world after the same quest.

I especially love lotro (I know lord of the rings online is not the most popular mmorpg) but the game world is quite beautifully done, it has a decent continual linear single player storyline (Book 1 chapter 1, book 1 chapter 2, etc) and built-in party voice-chat.

The me, the built-in voice chat is what really sold me. Which effectively means, I join a group of 5 ppl doing whatever with my headset on and we all start talking back and forth about game mechanics, the quests were working on, our progress, planning combos etc.

Sure, I could use team speak with randoms in other mmorpgs like coh, cov, wow, eq + variants, but then I need a server and have to give my ip address to each, get them to dl the program if they don't have it and install it etc. Its so much easier when the channel is setup on fellowship join/exit. I assume any xbox 360 mmorpg made by mistwalker would have a similar voice-chat feature via live?

I still enjoy single player rpg experiences a lot for their depth, storyline, less grinding and emphasis put on max level, but, always find myself missing the real-human interaction in mmorpgs versus npc interaction in single player rpgs.

We don't need anymore MMORPGs, not even from you Sakaguchi. MMORPGs are poison to gamers minds. There just bad all around. (esp WOW)Please stop and make something else.

What happened to that DS game that you were working on? The one that was suppose to use different emotions and make cry? Work on that, instead of some shitty MMORPG.

WOW. I wonder what will they call this NEW genre! RPMMOG? MMRPGO? OMMRPG?

Anyway, I just hope it kicks ass.
