PS2s outsell PS3s due to price, installed user base, and game availability, don't try to create something out of nothing bro. And comparing even "Disc Read Error" to "COMPLETE FAILURE" is absurd. As for your last statement, sure, that's possible.. anything is possible.. aliens could be real, the 360 could actually stop dying on people in droves, and your mom could finally get off my couch. But will any of that happen? Odds aren't so good.

@T H

Disc read error on a disc-only system = COMPLETE FAILURE.

Suck it up, fanboy.

@152 I concur. The only exception would be an illegal setup designed to run games off the hdd included with ff11. However, I don't think 151 was referring to that possibility and may not have been thinking.

I'm personally pretty glad online play will be coming. With growing up and moving all to different cities as a result of job requirements, I don't really care if its laggy and not entirely accurate to be honest.

Most of my high school friends whom I used to play fighters with 'back-in-the-day' of the arcade no longer live in the same city. So local multiplayer has little value to me. Online multiplayer is what helps my friends and I stay connected and still game with eachother.

I figure, online multiplayer with some or little lag is better than no online multiplayer. Ideally, local multiplayer would be best but it just isn't logistically possible for my friends and I.

I was thinking of getting this for my ps3 but held out to see if there would be online multiplayer for my friends and I use to use on our 360s. Glad there is. Can't wait to play it via xbl and if the graphics/ai are improved as they say, that can't hurt either for practicing to mop the floor with them hehehe =).

Bear with me.

This is great news for fans of the VF5 series. This is great news for those that own the Xbox 360. This is great news for those that play fighters online. Conversely, this is bad news for the PS3 owners that are fans of the VF5 series and like to play fighters online.

Wether or not the PS3 is cheaper than the Xbox 360 when you add all the humanly possible accessories to the xbox 360 is inconsequential. Wether or not Xbox 360 is hemorrhaging money is, likewise, irrelevant. Other arguments in the same vein that deviate for the premise of this announcement are not needed.

Personally, I think the Xbox 360 is the better machine to have thus far because of instances such as this. While the PS3 may have future potential to combat the Xbox 360s successes, I can't see into the future to judge that. Evaluating the past record of the two machines, the 360 outshines the PS3.

I'm really happy vf5 is going online. I love the series but wasn't going to but it without the online feature. I simply don't game enough with friends at home to make it worth it, but I am online quite a bit. Hey Shep, not to call you out as everyone seems to love to do, but I am the guy you told DMC4 would never come out on 360 after I said I was certain it would; I hear you about the arcade experience but let's face it: the online experience has replaced arcades. They're dead. To be able to 'put my quarter up' in the online arena is the substitute.

The ps3 is not going to be a failure, the brand is too strong; but compared to the 360 it's just flat with no personality. The free online is weak, and developer's are already saying they're not getting enough info on ps home to integrate features that support it. I'm still tempted to buy, especially at $499, but what am I really going to do with the damn thing? Is any content going to pull me off xblive where all my friends game? Is Drake or Ratchet going to sway me over Mass Effect, Bioshock, Halo 3? Would I rather play COD4 or Team Fortress on xblive or psnetwork? Not even close, sorry. Worldwide the numbers will be what they are, but here at home it's hard to see sony catching up until maybe the end of the console lifecycle. I said months ago (the post that Shep accused me of lying about) that the I sat on 8 or so ps3's for 8 weeks, and that hasn't changed. Its a 3 to 1 ratio in my store and once again I've been sitting on 6 ps3 units for 6 weeks now where the 360's consistently move (at a slow retail season).

Sony's blown it so far, and MS has made a machine that's affordable, loaded with great content and online, and has much more on the way. The rrod is not excusable, but mine's been fine since launch, not a single hiccup, and at least it didn't take a class action lawsuit (sony ps2) to get the company to address it.

You know, Xbox Live SILVER is better than PSNetwork and SILVER is free! For those that dont know what SILVER is... Its Xbox LIVE Gold minus online play, which is basically PSNetwork since they aint got no games that play online anyways

wtf is wrong with you guys? Who in their right mind cares if the PS3 or 360 is better? They all have their strong and weak points. I think what matters is that they are both good game systems. So just stop arguing about it alltogether. Besides, they're both awesome systems.
