An anonymous employee from Game Crazy sent a tip and scan to Joystiq of their pricing for Harmonix's Rock Band peripherals for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. The microphone and drum kit cost $29.99 and $79.99, respectively. Unfortunately, the guitar controller has a price discrepancy between the two platforms, with the PS3's wireless guitar costing $59.99 and the 360's $79.99, a twenty dollar difference.
As the story goes, Red Octane supposedly couldn't get a wireless guitar because using Microsoft's proprietary wireless technology would jack the price on the controller. Could the PS3's wireless technology be easier and cheaper to implement that would cause it to be cheaper than the 360's? Harmonix denied their being any discrepancy when asked that question, so we'll have to wait for either an announcement on pricing or some more concrete evidence from retailers.

So let me get this straight, 190$ if you buy each peripheral seperatly than the game is probably still going to cost a base price of 60$. So 250$ if someone wanted the whole package. I'm going to hope the game is cheaper or comes with a discount on your first instrument. I personally suggest waiting since a deal along the lines of "Buy one peripheral, get one 1/2 off/free."

I am surprised I didn't see this on PS3fanboy.
I am confused that only one accessory is cheaper. If the PS3 wireless is cheaper than why are the drums and mic same price?
I don't believe it.

Yeh that's because real guitars are wireless...... lol
This Rock Band thing sounds so gay. C'mon playing ur little plastic instruments to an onscreen beat. Pretending to be a "rock band". All while in the company of others. It's gonna look mighty gay.
Shall we get back to real games. Yeah I think so.

ah, but cheaper is not always better.....
just think, you're about to hit 300,000 points playing a song on hard, and *poof* your wireless guitar loses sync with the PS3. although the game pauses for you, it would still suck ass.

I'm sure if they talked to MS, MS would give them the rights to use their wireless tech.
After all, MS gave the Guitar Hero III vrew the rights to use their proprietary wireless tachnology. and considering both games are made by the same company (activision), I'm sure thy will be able to use MS's wireless tech. ans to stay competetive, I'm sure the prices on both systems will be the same.

this has to be wrong, I know for a fact that blutooth is more expensive technology than RF (what the 360 uses). Go check on the price of a BluTooth Mouse/Keyboard and compare to a RF Wireless Mouse/Keyboard...so either its BS or MS is charging a huge licensing fee for the RF packet technology, which if they see that the PS3 guitar will be cheaper, MS will cut their license fees I'm sure just to drop the guitar price...

@8,
Guitars aren't always wireless.... Ever heard of an amp? Gotta plug that in some how.... Electric guitars don't make a lot of sound unless they are plugged in....
Also, you probably never played guitar hero. It's probably one of the best games ever made, and a lot of people enjoy it, even if they do play real guitar (which I do). I think Rock Band is going to be extremely fun, because not everyone wants to spend many years learning to play the real instrument. This game still gives the illusion that you can play, but nobody thinks they have skills on the real instruments.
It's a simulation, and people know it. But that doesn't mean it can't be fun.

Everyone sees in the scanned paper that it's dates 7/03/07, then in text it says prices willbe changed 7/04/07. So how is anyone really going by this information?
