If you're looking for a good way to connect with your grandpa (and you're tired of him reading you the good parts from The Princess Bride) you may want to consider a new, 800-point ($10) pack of six classic stadiums recently released for MLB 2K7. With the "Historic Stadium Bundle" you'll be able to play at Sportsman's Park, Forbes Field, Griffith Stadium, Shibe Park, Polo Grounds and Crosley Field.
If your baseball history skills leave something to be desired, you can find some more information on Major Nelson's blog. That way, you won't be completely unable to relate when gramp-gramp starts waxing nostalgic about Polo Grounds' "oddly-shaped outfield fence." If you only have time to learn the ins-and-outs of a couple of stadiums though, you can also purchase them in two-packs for 300 points ($3.75).

Microsoft is like a hobo who comes up to your car with a spray bottle and a scrunched up newspaper offering to clean your windshield.
All he asks for in return is your nickels and dimes!

I remember when stuff like extra levels (stadiums, in this instance) were unlockable at no extra charge.

That Princess Bride reference is choice! I always thought it was kind of creepy when I was a kid. I love how his grandpa just climbs in bed with him to read him a love story!
And more on topic.. I think that the nickle and diming thing is okay WITHIN REASON. As long as games still have content on par with the old days and it is EXTRA content to purchase.. well that's okay by me.

Double posts are almost always due to posters hitting the submit button multiple times. Ever notice how it's often the same people double posting? Think about that.
Anyway, on topic, I agree with Jerk Face's stance. A lot of people like to whine about "nickel and diming", and in some cases it's warranted, but in many (if not most) it's not. If the game you bought at the retail level was a complete game, then how can the complaint about being nickeled be valid? It's not. No matter how much content is included in the retail game, a developer can ALWAYS add more later. ALWAYS. Yet we will always have people comaplin when it happens.

Like the new layout. I think we are very spoiled as gamers because we are used to getting so much extra stuff already included. Now it seems that everything is moving towards paying for it. As long as they continue to include free extra stuff I'll be ok.

This isn't so bad. If you want to see people getting ripped off, go to the Japanese marketplace and look at all the content for that loli dancing game. There are probably hundreds of dollars worth' of DLC for it.

In the grand old days of MVP 2005, all these stadiums were free. MLB 2k7 had very few unlockable players, retro teams, and retro jerseys. Luckily I'm sure they'll soon make their way to the marketplace in $10 packs, ugh...

At least they give you alternative price points. Buy 'em all or buy smaller, cheaper packs.
@megaTyke - I don't know of any baseball game that had this many historic parks included. Especially not at the level of detail in 2K7. The stadiums are awesome.
Now, can I get Atlanta Fulton County Stadium?

The new layout sucks, big time.
Anyways this also sucks. They should be unlockable. This is why MS Marketplace is trash, that and that Doom cost $10. Lame.

I believe MLB2K5 had all these stadiums as unlockables...charging for classic stadiums when they used to be unlockable is another way that microtransactions are teh suck.
I wish that developers would do something like classic rosters instead...I would pay $10-$15 if I could get the roster from the 1955 season for instance.

Ah, the days when baseball fields were baseball fields and not advertisements disguised as boutique malls.
(Actually, I don't mind the fancier extras on stadiums at all, but the corporate names that get slathered on them drive me nuts.)

Ah, yes, the olden days before ads. You must mean the forties. Or maybe the teens?

You know like $90 for GH1 play list...
Ripoff.

the real question is whether these dlc packs carry over into mlb 2k8. buying the polo grounds every year when the mlb comes out would be kind of weak.

I don't mind paying a few bucks for some good downloadable content. But $10 for six new stadiums is a outrage..
