UPDATE??? duuuuuude all most of you people worry about is what the graphics are like you hardley ever take into cosideration that it might not be possible to expand the graphic on xbox 360 or ps3 because it might lead to serious laag and slow framerate

Can the owners of the current Oblivion game for PS3 even download the Shivering Isles yet?

so, once again early adopters get screwed...seriously, is there a reason why I should bother buying a game "new" vs. waiting 1-2 years for all the "editions" of a game to come out, and then I can get it on the cheap used!

So Im assuming you would just be buying perfect dark zero, kameo, and call of duty 2? And you dont have dead rising, gears of war, rainbow six vegas or the like?

There are going to be so many good titles coming out this Fall on all consoles.. and Besethda basically has nothing to offer.. which is why they have to do this.

I won't think about buying it until they tell us weather or not Shivering Isles will be coming to the PSN. I don't mind selling my Oblivion copy and buying the GOTY edition for a lower price later on, but I would REALLY RATHER download the expansion from PSN.

Bethesda did such a great job porting the game to PS3 it's a shame that they throw in the towel and call it quits with the expansion pack. If all these small time devs are doing downloadable content fine then how come Bethesda can't figure it out?

Most likely. This just sounds like the core game with the two expansions included on the disc. What _wouldn't_ work is if you saved a game with the expansions loaded and then went back to the core game. Those saves would report as corrupted or something.

Nice value for people who still haven't bought the game. Someone above bitched about buying games "new". Basically, all early adopters get "screwed". I can get Oblivion used for $30 right now, less if I look on ebay. I can get a PS3 version with very slightly better graphics for $50 used. But I payed $60 for the 360 version right when it came out.

And what do I get in return. Not having to wait 2 friken years to play this game that all my friends were raving about. I will continue to get games around when they come out if I can because I love playing new games and can't wait for them to come down in price, add features, add free dlc, fix bugs, etc.

I will not be buying this new version. I played well over 100 hours on the launch retail version of the game and had no desire to buy any of the dlc, and wouldn't have even played it for free. The game is great, but I can't just keep playing it. I will wait for the next Elder Scrolls game, which in a way is Fallout.

Interesting. I haven't bought it because I just can't bring myself to pay $60 for a new game, and the price just won't drop on Oblivion. I made an exception for Crackdown (because of the Halo 3 beta), and I would definitely consider picking up this GOTY edition, but only if they keep the price at $60.

Yes! I knew if I waited long enough it would happen. My friend had let me borrow his Oblivion for about 3 months and I loved every bit of it. I've been itching to just go buy it but I knew if I waited something else would come out. August/September are looking good... BioShock, Blue Dragon, Halo 3, Oblivion GOTY...

@Patrick

on the contrary, I do have GoW, Crackdown, GuitarHero2, I did buy Oblivion shortly after it came out ($50 at CircuitCity)...

my point is that normally special editions come out when the game comes out (extra content, etc). but now a year or 2 later here comes a remake (of the SAME game) with the extra downloadable content included for LESS money than the original game + dl content (barring those that bought used and dl'd the content). So what's my motivation to buy a "new" game from Bethesda other than instant gratification--(barring playing a game while its popular and has a large number of people to play against (ie-Burnout, Halo2, other online MP games))??

So they should have waited a year with releasing the game so they could make a Special Version that includes the DLC?
The DLC does´nt magically appears from thin air, it took them time to make them after the gamerelease...

They might just put all the expansions on the one DVD then put a CD beside it on the shelf for the horse armour which will be an extra $5 of course.

usually these things cost around $40. It would be pretty gay if this was released as a $60 (or more) title.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Gamefly yet. I'd be annoyed if I'd actually BOUGHT Oblivion, but since it's just a rental I'll just stick the upgraded one in my queue, and send back the copy I'm currently playing through when it arrives.

I can't bring myself to spend new prices on games, although some of the PS3 launch titles are now getting down to the low $20s used via gamefly. I liked the soundtrack in Full Auto 2...

lol the new release ps3 game are so low because ps3 is so shit. and dont say it isnt. you ever tried to play a ps2 game on it? well dont. the graphics quality is so shit on ps3. because instead of rerendering the graphics from a ps2 game so it appears normally, it mearly zooms rescales the image leaving it all squared and chunky and shit.

And also the interface in the main consol menu is not as user friendly as that of the xbox 360. And what with that retarded blueray dvd crap i couldnt see much of a difference the only thing different was that it was slightly brighter. oooooh wow lets pay $900 or more dollars just to watch movies that are slightly brighter. you can adjst that sort of stuff from your tv.

on the other hand the motion senser controlling is not as new of a tech as most think. i got an old microsoft Freestyler pro that can do that. although it was a good i idea it doesnt make much of a dif. and im not saying xbox 360 is perfect it has its flaws as well, but my point is about 80% of people dont see through the little things. they all go OH WOW IT HAS BLUERAY but also think(wtf is blueray?) and OH AWESOME WIRLESS MOTION SENSOR CONTROLLERS and cool i can play my old ps2 games on it. and yet they never take into consideration the quality of the ps2 games when played on ps3. My point being People should see past the little details and into the whole picture before thinking if they are getting value for money.

LOL man i talk allot
