This Week in HD DVD: good deals edition

Tomorrow brings four new HD DVD releases none of which are super duper brand new releases, but they are for the most part pretty entertaining movies. We'll let you take a look at the new releases below ... okay, now we have other good news. This week Best Buy is offering a few HD DVDs for the gotta have 'em price of $14.99. The discounted movies include V For Vendetta, Troy, Goodfellas, Phantom of the Opera, and The Last Samurai. Good deals, so go buy, go buy now!

Sorry for putting this comment here, but I couldn't find a way to contact the bloggers. There have been a few stories about a price cut for the 360 in response to Sony's reductions on the PS3 price today. Here's one:

I think I may get The Phantom of The Opera. Great movie, it'd be even better on HD DVD.

I didn't get Happy Gilmore in HD because it Happy Gilmore. I won't get Billy Madison in HD because IT'S BILLY MADISON. There are some movies where it just isn't worth ditching the DVD copies. Yes, Bridgette Wilson and Julie Bowen are great to look at, but HD DVD is made for action/adventure/drama movies, and that is what will sell it now. Not fluff like Billy Madison.
