We're not sure how many jokes about time we could drop into this post, but if we did they'd provide you with laugh-a-minute yuks and howls. If only we had enough time in the day to get to stuff like that, but you know what they say ... time is money and it also waits for no man, or woman.
Anyhow, check out the sweetness that is the new TimeShift E3 trailer. We've already seen a cinematic trailer, read details about the time control in the game, and finally you can see how it all works in actual gameplay. Sure, Slow and Reverse are nothing new ... but give us that Stop ability anytime. Especially later this week when we're in the midst of the E3 feeding frenzy.

Wasn't there some 2D indie game that was supposed to be the greatest/most creative game concept in years a while back that used this exact same concept of controlling time?
What was that game called? I don't think it was ever released yet...

I hope this E3 brings a release date and a public demo of Too Human, a game that will hopefully brake the trend of only first/third person shooter games releasing lately. I can't wait for that game. Two Worlds looks nice and all but it looks to.. and I hate to be comparing it before it launches.. much like Oblivion while being a bit dulled down and adding in multiplayer. I need some more online co-op games and I need more light-hearted or atleast lighter colored games! Seriously, you can have a serious and well made game without everything looking so grey and red. It doesn't have to be a childs game but the colors in games today are so dreary.
How sweet would a mature rated shooter be with colors and enemies similar to those found in Super Paper Mario be?

What were they thinking?
I'm glad this was leaked, otherwise I would have never looked at it, I would be too busy looking at first party stuff

Maybe if they can get multiplayer to work with the time functions it would be fun. I mean, only one person can manipulate time at a time, but it could be cool. Like maybe time control is a power-up laying around and while you are using your 5-10 seconds worth, nobody else can use theirs and you are in control.
When you slow time, it is slow for everyone and only you move in normal speed. When you reverse, everyone is frozen just to watch in horror as you dodge their previously perfectly thrown sticky grenade and start pumping them full of lead. Or just stop time and make them watch you rev your energy sword, chainsaw, or whatever badass melee weapon they copy for this generic shooter + time control fragfest.

That's only assuming conventional action game mechanics. Having time stop during gameplay is nothing new, else turn-based games would never have existed.
Having said that, time stopping in a pure-action game is really boring, unless they add in other elements, such as primary objectives not being pure killing.

And the setting looks very generic and dull.
For some reason it reminds me a lot of Requien: Avenging Angel.. which had a similar look, and was the first FPS i played that allowed you to slow down time. Since that game is over 8 years old it doesn't seem that great an advance.
I can't help but feel that this game'd be more fun if they toned down the FPS combat and boosted the prominence of the time control.
