Electronic Arts is launching a second football franchise with the NFL license. NFL Tour is being billed as more of an arcade-style sports game and "will bring the spectacle of a traveling NFL road show alive" for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Both "intuitive controls" and an appeal to "casual gamers" are mentioned in the press release, indicating EA sees this game as intended for a different audience not wanting the detail of Madden (or maybe even Blitz). The game's site is set up to show a teaser trailer featuring the logo and ... well, not much else, really.
NFL Tour is scheduled for release January 2008.

Hmm, color me intrigued...
Ever have a friend who like to kick back and have a few (cases of) beers with and play some Madden... but they suck and it's a painful blowout everytime?
I have a couple of those friends and I would love for a casual football game to come out that has the flash of Madden but the fun of old school Blitz (not this newer simulation blitz).
Somehow I doubt they will have the ultra-violence of Blitz... ahh how I miss those days.

It's obvious that this will likely be nothing more than a Next-gen iteration of NFL Street. The NFL Street series never really sold well in comparison to NBA Street, EA is likely revamping the franchising and taking a stab at All-Pro Football at the same time. If any of you have read the previews of All-Pro Football, it's gameplay system is almost like an RPG meets Football sort of style. Should be interesting to see what EA does with this.

Sorry but shouldn't EA really worry about making Madden a better game than putting out more crap. Ok listen, EA says if it's in the game, it's in the game Right? Well again NCAA and Madden does not have active Refs on the field or even the chain gang on the side line, like they do in older versions, or even a good commentary, like NCAA. First I like using the Center Ref. as a screen on plays but the new Maddens, NO their not in there. The damn games look like a stupid Electric Football game. Screw EA I'm going with 2K.

I had high hopes for Head Coach but it sucked and I want my money back. I doubt this will be any good.

why in the world isn't this coming to Wii?

I'm a hardcore gamer but Madden is to much for me, I would buy this on my Wii because Blitz League is awol.
