Forever Blue Japanese box revealed
The official box art for the Japanese release of Forever Blue has just been unveiled. A few vague details were leaked earlier this month confirming the non-game will be exploration-based as you swim the ocean cataloging and photographing the sea life you encounter. With the little blue Wi-Fi logo, the box also confirms online multiplayer exploration. Although a North American or European release has not been mentioned, we're still filing this one under the "Japan gets all the cool boxes" category.

"Wow, look at this fancy image how awesomely fancy it is."
Nice image comments, Joystiq!

LAME: like most Wii games this one isn't even a game! Boy Exploring the oceans for grainy, pixelated fish, I can't wait!
Spongie @ Jul 10th 2007 10:22AM
lol...
dpad @ Jul 10th 2007 9:40AM
WTF sheppy?
Anyways...
This game looks pretty cool even if it just a glorified pokemon snap. Maybe it's because I scuba dive, but I think it would pretty sweet to swim with a whale shark on a 43" plasma (even if the wii isn't high def).

"I think it would pretty sweet to swim with a whale shark"
In real life yes, in a video game... boring.
This game is actually just a port/rehash (big surprise) of an old PS2 game called "Everblue 2". Even the developers are the same (Arika).
Everblue 2 has a rating of 59/100 at Metacritic.
ackmondual @ Jul 10th 2007 7:49PM
I was thinking more in the lines of a glorified Ecco The Dolphin, tho I believe that game was rather popular for Genesis
JodyAnthony @ Jul 10th 2007 9:40AM
the box looks great to me. I'm quite excited about this game.
Konny @ Jul 10th 2007 9:53AM
Looks like $50 well spent; definitely worth it!
Martez @ Jul 10th 2007 9:54AM
Haha, great Venture Bros. quote.
Spongie @ Jul 10th 2007 10:24AM
Craptacular, no thanks.
Come on Mario Galaxy...
michael @ Jul 10th 2007 10:22AM
this game is going to be awesome methinks. hopefully more zen than boring.
Jerk Face @ Jul 10th 2007 10:23AM
I would buy this game. It looks neat, and the Wii controls would be cool for it I bet.
Yeah, I said the word "neat." You don't like it? Go fuck yourself, buddy.
Jacob P. @ Jul 10th 2007 10:37AM
I read that and was like...Haha, he said neat...
then I read your second paragraph and was like...Aww...that's not nice...
hvnlysoldr @ Jul 10th 2007 10:27AM
Needs more Samus.
tituspullo @ Jul 10th 2007 10:40AM
"steve irwin" all i have to say
Lothar of the Hill People @ Jul 10th 2007 10:44AM
This looks like fun, and the graphics are not too bad considering it's for the DS ...
Wait, it's for the Wii..? BAAHHAHHA
JodyAnthony @ Jul 10th 2007 10:46AM
you are cool.
Jason Tyra @ Jul 10th 2007 10:58AM
This reminds me of the crappy "edutainment" titles that were all over the Philips CD-i. Didn't Nintendo have something to do with the CD-i?
??? @ Jul 10th 2007 11:06AM
jsn,Jason Tyra and Spongie
You seem like the FPS type. I bet that's all you play right?
Jason Tyra @ Jul 10th 2007 11:17AM
No, actually I'm more of a RPG guy, but thanks for the smart-ass assumption.
Spongie @ Jul 10th 2007 12:23PM
Umm no...
But did stay at a Holiday inn once.
baby sea tuna @ Jul 10th 2007 11:26AM
I say, bring on the Dugongs!
ssuk @ Jul 10th 2007 11:31AM
You guys sure are funny, you can't judge an experimental game like this just because of a few screens and information, these kind of games you need to play to see if it blows or not.
I don't think the game would appeal to my tastes at all, but I'm not going to jump out screaming and shouting how shit it is without playing it. Anyone who does so, I feel is just trying to look cool and coming out looking more like an ass.
sheppy @ Jul 10th 2007 11:36AM
Ummm, this is a port of an existing game....
Why wait? Play now!

JodyAnthony @ Jul 10th 2007 12:16PM
isnt it a sequel, not a port?
sheppy @ Jul 10th 2007 12:55PM
Last I heard, it was a port. Could be a sequel. But the first two were identical. I highly doubt this game series pulls a Dino Crisis 3.
Personally, I'll wait on reviews. Before I either write it off or hype it up...
Unless, of course, HOT DOLPHIN!
Henry @ Jul 10th 2007 12:36PM
I wish the graphics were like the box art, Im sure that could be done if the developers would just pull their finger out!
sheppy @ Jul 10th 2007 1:00PM
HAHA! I FOUND IT!
Hot Dolphin!

SuperMario21 @ Jul 10th 2007 1:05PM
This is not a port. That is like saying that since Halo 1 and 2 came out on Xbox that Halo 3 is a port from the original Xbox. Its ridiculous. Stop being a fanboy and recognize that this could be a good game. It even has online capability.
ouj @ Jul 10th 2007 1:51PM
"Stop being a fanboy and recognize that this could be a good game."
...demands someone with a name "SuperMario21". Uh oh.
Everblue and Everblue 2 were garbage, as witnessed by dozens of reviews. Forever Blue is pretty much the same game with waggle controls. Ok, maybe they'll do the trick (as usual) and we're looking at a 90+ game.
Koopaknight29 @ Jul 10th 2007 2:00PM
I wonder if this game draws any parallels to the N64 game Pokemon Snap? If so, so. very. bought.
For now, I'm cautiously optimistic about the whole thing.
Concerto No.20 in D minor @ Jul 11th 2007 1:24PM
If anyone here has ever done scuba or snorkle in Hawaii, then you can imagine how cool this game could be. COULD.
