...colour blind people have no problem distinguishing black from white. It's not as if they're green and red consoles (ring of death excluded).

Notice the red glare from the uplights on the "gray" console. If the consoles were all lit uniformly, that artifact wouldn't be there. The left console is therefore sitting in a shadow. The bright spot is almost as light as the other consoles. This suggests that the left console is not significantly darker in color.

more likely a red "downlight" reflecting off of the reflective plexiglass table. The other boxes just don't happen to have a red light above them at the right angle to get a reflection.

You are an idiot if you think a shadow in that already dark room could account for the level of gray (along with the detail equal to the white units right next to it) on the xbox at the end.

Turns out it actually is gray. Special Halo Edition. Guess you are the idiot. Man enough to come back and admit you were wrong and all that red "uplighting" crap was a bunch of BS? Doubtful.

I sat here and typed out a long detailed explaination of why it isn't a white one in shadow... Then I realized that was just a waste of time. The lighting one that stage is not so poor that one section is lit and the other isn't... Even if it was this is too obviously GREY.... If it wasn't the shadows wouldn't look like it was solid GREY with shadows on it....

That other pic is so blury you can barely tell they are xboxes. In that shot if the light and angle were the same on the black it would look whiter too....

If it's white, why doesn't it have the orange tint to the side like the two white ones?

It's clearly grey.

The blury picture appears to show three white 360s, while the main picture--zoomed in--does appear to have at least a gray faceplate. Possibly two different units shot at two different times? Since there are no wires or power cables, my bet is that these are empty cases with LEDs lighting the ring of light.

Could the gray one be a ruse -- will they open it to find an XBoy (MS portable gaming unit) inside?

That'd be kinda clever ....

Purely based on this picture I would assume that there would be four SKU's, all with hard drives of varying capacity (20GB, 50GB, 80GB, 120GB), two with wired controllers, two with wireless controllers, one in gray, two in white, one in black, etc.

Oh, and they'd probably be priced something like $199.99, $269.99, $339.99, $399.99

i don't understand why people keep downing the different models for a game console. what is so wrong with it? 3 models in MORE than enough? i would love to see a core, a premium, an elite, and either a lower end one than the core or a higher end one than the elite with built in HD DVD. it lets people decide on the best system for them. a price drop on all models seems the next logical step, especially if a 4th model is introduced.

$200 for the core
$300 for the premium
$380 for the elite
$450 for the limited (with built in HD DVD)

If it is a new version I assume it would be the IPTV/tuner box 360 that is supposed to come out in December. I doubt there will be an HD-DVD drive in the 360 ever, why cut off $$$ from a decent selling peripheral?

From that far picture it looks like it's white, but if you look at the one showing it gray, the front looks kinda white also while you can clearly tell on the side that it's gray.

You people are really dumbasses sorry, If this one would appear grey due to bad lighting, how come the one next to it doesn't even appear al little bit darker then the other white one?

I'm gonna have to agree and say that its a white one with bad lighting on it. From left to right, the consoles get whiter (till you get to the elite, obviously). I think the darker shade is just how the lighting in the room is making things appear.

Still odd to have 4 xboxes, and each with a HDD attached.

Well, at first I thought that it must be white in shadow as it is right underneath the spotlight, so would not be affected by that particular lightsource.

However, I realised that the light that is reflecting off the three 360s is red, and that light is being projected by the tables which they are standing on, so you would expect them all to be the same colour.

The only other thing I could think of is that either the two 'white' 360s are being lit by the LCD screen (which would make sense); notice how the far left one has the reddest tint, and the far right has the least, this is the LCDs different coloured light cancelling it out, no?

If we could see any other lighting arrangements we could tell whether it is actually the colour of the case or not..

*Just a side note - I thought core 360s were that type of grey, or is it just the pads?

First of all, the console is clearly GREY! Secondly, this is indeed a new SKU, since it has it's own stand. Four stands, four models. Lastly, Joystiq is right; it's placed opposite the Elite, so this means it's a new, uber-cheap model.

Here's my prediction: It's a new stripped-down model called the '360 Base' and it'll cost a mere $200. I think they'll lower the prices of the other three too. I bet the Core will cost $250, the 20gb 360 will cost $300, and the Elite will cost $400.

You heard it here first, folks.
