In other words.... You get to play music and frogstomp to your hearts content....

I'm all about a freestyle mode... but that's in PIU.

Seriously, having a hard time seeing the purpose of this. Workout Mode at least had a goal. They already had an easy mode in Beginner.

Real games? I guess that means soldiers shooting each other with guns, right?

Would probably work for me

Two left feet is an understatement, in my case, my inability to play that game virtually borders on disability

But without the arrows, the game is nothing but an uninterrupted sequence of bright, flashing colorful graphics in hypnotic patterns.....

Wait a minute, Konami SAID they were looking into alternative ways to recoup the cost of MGS4... this game must make people want to buy a MGS4...

Their insidious plan lays broken before me. I must tell the newspapers.

My 4 year old son would love this.

It is like the freestyle mode of Boom Boom Rocket.

I didn't want to buy the original DDRU, but I'll buy this one.

DDR might be a real game...but its the lowest brow form of gaming available...followed by rhythm games, followed by mini-games, followed by pet simulators, followed by collect the items games...followed by UNO.

Uhh... Dance Dance Revolution IS a rhythm game. One of the pioneers of the genre, if I'm not mistaken.

And it isn't fair to call it "lowest brow form of gaming available" just because you have no rhythm.
(Yes, that was a low blow, and maybe you might have rhythm. But to place it below pet sims and mini-game collections shows some hatred for the genre)

Coming soon: Guitar Hero where you don't have to follow any notes on the screen but instead you just press buttons as fast as possible then destroy the guitar at the end of the song.

Sadly, they're making something similar to that in Rock Band. Where certain sections of the song you can just play whatever notes you want as fast as you can... and I guess you could destroy the guitar if you really wanted to.

On topic: This sounds idiotic.

Shag: Technically speaking, I agree with you that rhythm games don't have much to them. However, they are damn fun when you're in the mood to just move around for the hell of it.

I'd compare them to Hollywood blockbusters: Not much to them, but a lot of fun if you're in the mood.

But Anam, for Guitar Hero and Karoake Revolution, Harmonix took Freestyle Mode OUT. Both Frequency and Amplitude had freestyle sections.

It'll be nice to have a DDR game for Wii, considering the gamecube version costs well over $100 used.

Real freestyling would be to be able to pull off stunts whilst tapping the right arrows, it's a lot more impressive. ;)

I'd only use that mode just for music listening though.

Get over it. A non-arrow mode would be good for young children. My youngest (4-year old) son doesn't really like to play DDR, but he likes to dance on the side as we play. The key to making this fun for a kid of his age would be to have arrow presses have some effect on the display on the screen. So, yeah, there'd be no arrows, but you could have funny pictures appear and/or sound effects (instruments?) or other stuff as your child steps on the arrows. At first they'd just go wild, but gradually they'd start to step to the beat. Then it's just a small additional step to getting them to play the real game.

This mode should be available as a difficult option such that I could play at whatever difficulty level and my son could play with the free mode beside me.

Honest to god, I've never understood the people who are new to DDR flailing about while playing. What the hell is so complicated in the logic that the left arrow is to your left?
