Konami announces Silent Hill V for 360, PS3
32
Konami puzzled us earlier today by sending out a cryptic poem hinting that a major unexpected announcement would be coming from its press conference. Knowing that Pac-Man CE had already been announced, we were perplexed as to what Konami's announcement could possibly be. Well, ladies and gentlemen, we're sitting at said press conferencce right now, and the announcement is ... Silent Hill V (at least that's what we think it is). The game features a soldier home from a war who is searching for his missing son. As often seems to be the case, this missing person decides to the best place to run to is Silent Hill. Akira Yamaoka will return to provide a brand new mind-bending soundtrack. Konami promises more news to come.

Seriously guys, get your facts right. Konami did Frogger, not Pac-Man. Pac-Man is Namco last I heard. :P

How is Pac-Man CE related to this story? Pac-Man is a Namco license. o_O

First-ever screenshot of SH5 (prepare to be disappointed):

The guys who did Silent Hill 1-4 will NOT be involved with this game. As far as I know, Yamaoka's back for the soundtrack, and that's it. In other words, Silent Hill is ruined.

Their are making a joke. A month or so ago MS said they had a big announcement, speculation went wild and then...Pac Man CE. Good game though just not earth shattering.

On another note. With all these great games coming out for PS3 & 360. Wii gamers are getting a real kick in the balls, there getting shit all.

True that. The Silent Hill series was always a must play for me. You'll never see anything like this on the Wii.

Sounds like my local weatherman did the voiceover there. Good for him.

Well, it's their fault for being suckers to Nintendo's advertising.
Either way, SH5 seems a little underwhelming. I'm not excited. At all. The whole soldier looking for his kid reminds me of SH1 except with Jacob from Jacob's Ladder looking for his dead Macaulay (how was I able to spell that right?) Culkin son.

Aw, man, what a horrible voice over, and what an even more horrible trailer. I just hope they really are going back to the psychological roots of SH2. Damn what a disappointing trailer, though... Septembe 6?! Argh.

Did I seriously just waste 50 seconds of my life just to watch an ad for EGM?
And I second phuink's comment about the voice. When the "trailer" first started playing, I at first assumed I was hearing the voice of some Konami rep talking over the trailer, as if joystiq had taped this directly from the event.

Really? That's it? I mean, it's surprising how bad it was... The fantastically bland voice over and the ad for what they should have been showing us here... Maybe done something to build some tension even.
At least the fog was mildly ominous.

Bad trailer or not, at least there is a Silent Hill 5, and thats all that matters.

Please god no, if this game gets screwed up... I seriously will have o faith in gaming left. I have waited for this game for too long to let a western set of devs mess it up. BTW WTF happened to the SH2 team, the head of Team Silent said they were the ones working on it.

Too all game companies:
Don't show a trailer for a game until there is something to show.
All of this dependence on hype is ridiculous. Show a game when it's more complete and near its release and people will go crazy over hearing about it for the first time AND being able to buy it soon!

akira yamaoka needs to be dropped. the music for silent hill games is so cheesy and campy. it ruins the whole mood.

I have never seen such a wrong comment in all my internet life. To replace him would damage the series.

The trailer was probably put together for E3 so they would have something to show. I'd bet good money that the voice over in the trailer is in no way indicative of the end product. With that said, I am a huge Silent Hill fan with the second one being my favorite, and also being one of my all time favorite games of all time. I am insanely excited for this and Origins.
Too bad I scare easy.

Yea.. that was a horrible TEASER. Because we all know Teaser trailers have to show every little bit of information about the game. *wink nudge*
On topic i've always been a fan of SH can't wait for this one. Still need to beat 4 though that one scares me =( Curse you disablity for making survial horror games more scary! (Being deaf does add to the scary... take the radio for example.. it makes noise when baddies are around, and since I won't hear it I won't know what's coming needless to say I check my pants often. >.> )
