A cute little email hit our inbox from Konami in regards to their press briefing taking place this evening, and should be interesting. Here's the poem:

"What better way
to end your day
at Konami's media briefing collecting...
News for a major announcement
you were not expecting."

Curiouser and curiouser, upon being confronted with this new information, our intrepid lead gave his best raised eyebrow akin to a well renowned Vulcan. The sign in for the briefing is in just over an hour, and we'll be there to bring you this unexpected announcement. Until then, rampant speculation ... GO!

MGS4 on 360 seems to be the obvious choice at first, but MS would have had that in their conference for sure if it was a sure thing by now.

Realistic guess: Info on the new Silent Hill.

Unrealistic guess: Brand new 2d Castlevania for home consoles.

Policenauts 2! It'd be nice if they'd announce the third ZOE.

Remember this it will be MGS4. If I'm lying I'm Dying. The MGS4 "SECRET" has been the worst kept "SECRET". What's funny is that it will probable run at 60 fps while the PS3 will run at 1.5 fps. Oh well for Sony at least they will have video blogging. Now thats what I want out of my game system. Awsome.

It has to be MGS 4 for Xbox 360. What point would it be for Microsoft to announce it the day before Konami has its big day?

You don't steal the thunder of a company that you just convinced to help you kill your largest competitor (sorry Wii fanboys, Nintendo is NOT the 360's competition).

I still wouldn't be shocked if there was a 360 version of it a year or so later under a different name. However if It did go to the 360, it would be on over 4 DvDs 0_o

Either way, I don't think any 360 owners really care, as most of you commented on earlier today ;) But just giving the update!

Edit: From the live feed I was watching, they said it was an exclusive 4 times during the same speech, guess they were trying to debunk the rumor is all ;)

If this was MGS4, it would take 4+ DVDs to hold, and they would have just lied to every sony fan not 4 hours before. Not to mention the question of can the 360 actually handle this game. I mean, I like my 360, but I know Gears about kills it as it is.

I wouldn't get your hopes up, but I'm sure there will be something nice there for ya!

Anyone know when this press event is even happening? This article doesn't state the time and date.

The suprise is Metal Gear Solid Collection, with the first three remade for Xbox 360. No I'm joking. Though it is possible, they did remake the first for gamecube.

Why did you feel the urge to say the same thing 3 different times? You seem to be on every thread around now just to show your Sony Fanboyism knowing you'll be heard just because this is E3 coverage. I don't mind if you give your opinion on things but your spewing your PS3 pride all over this site, and alot of people don't seem to like it.

On topic, if MGS4 still had a chance of coming on the 360 that would huge yet I doubt this will happen. Silent Hill is my guess as well.

I'm on the site following E3 for my Xbox and my PS3. I post my opinion like others do. I have a very low opinion about Xbox which is no secret, and well diserved do to the issues I've had with it. However I've been quite polite for the most part. As for saying the same thing 3 times... this site needs a edit function.

However if you are going to claim my comments on 4 DvD's being required to fit the game (I mean that would be about right, maybe 3... I donno I been up awhile) are anything close to the Comments on the PS3 side, then you are very wrong.

Please take the time to see the flooded comments of "KILZun 2 is teh blows HALOZ winz! die sony!!!!" on the PS3 side ;)

I've made many posts today about 360 games I've been looking forward to, and I've made posts about my Doubts of the 360 ability to handle some games. I'm a pretty even poster tbh....

Well I understand some 360 Fanboys aren't exactly the most polite people when it comes to PS3 news but than again some PS3 people come here and act on par with the said 360 "bots." This makes me wonder just how many people have played MGS. Don't get me wrong, I loved the first one, but the second one didn't make any damn sense, and I just recently beat the third, and I though it played like a B movie version of a James Bond flick.

king spartan of seattle is one of the people I was talking about, hes not even bashing the 360 and the blog would still be a better place if he wasn't here ;)

@21 As for the story in 2, its a game that makes you think, look at patterns (in the story not the game) and try to understand, only to have everything you thought to be true turned upside down. Its complicated and deep. And to be honest, and I promise I'm really not trying to bash here! The avg player of the 360 seems to be more of a Twitch shooter type of gamer then a complicated and deep story gamer. Which is why I believe MGS2 didn't sell very well on the Xbox. And again I'm sorry if that sounded rude, it wasn't a insult, but my theory of the target demographic for the 360.

And I'd be lieing if I said I really understood it all, but MGS4 says they will wrap up the story and sulve all the puzzles.

On topic, Silent Hill 5 would be great! Hope the site is updated soon!

Personally, I just think it's going to be something Silent Hill related.

I do note, however, that for one, Kojima clearly barely knows English and was making all sorts of facial expressions while he was up there. Two, he never himself said it, despite Sony's talking heads saying it four times or so. Three, the press release in no way says or even implies exclusivity.

Now, I personally think MGS4 isn't showing up for the 360 at all, honestly... but it certainly gives the impression that Konami itself doesn't want to keep making direct statements about it.

konami refuses to debunk an eventual release of mgs4 to the 360.

either they allready have it in development, or theyre trying not to burn any bridges for when they wont hit their numbers on the PS3. who knows.

All i know is anytime someone from konami makes a comment about it, its never a definate answer, its allways like "for right now" or "at this time"

I'd say theres about an 80 percent chance that MGS4 will eventually end up on the 360. If konami disagrees with me, then please, by all means debunk the rumor instead of adding to it.

Jldowning: Please just got back to PS3Fanboy and do us all a favor. Anyone who feels the need to respond 5 times in a thread is obviously trying to irratate people. There is a reason this site is called 360fanboy genius! Nobody here is buying what Sony is shoveling and they especially aren't buying it from you. The 360 has proved itself time and time again against the PS3 that it has the chops! You bought Sony's BS line of the cell can do this and do that.. But when you look at the bottlenecks of the system the cell is still working with crap for RAM. No processor or Blu-ray is going to fix that.

Did someone just say all the PS3 had was "shooters"? That is my main complaint with the 360. I have both, love both, but I'm ready for a diversion. MS continues to hang it's hat on Halo. Great. I don't like Halo, and to be honest, not much of M$ "best holiday lineup in the history of gaming" interests me either. Talk about buying a load of crap, as someone on here so eloquently put it. My guess is that you took M$'s 3 yr warranty as a "commitment to their customers". Awesome.

I guess I just don't understand why people sit around and mindlessly bash a system. Why? They are both great, and each camp is having a hard time admitting it at the moment. They both have their faults too.

Hey sharpblade. You don't know what you are talking about. There are no bottlenecks in the PS3 if you program it properly for the Cell/RSX. If you follow a PC/360 centric programing guide, of course you'll run into bottleneck problems. But the PS3 is not meant to be programed like a Tri-core cpu/conventional GPU the 360 system uses. The PS3 is a completely different type of architecture; multi-SPU Cell/RSX.

Games are just starting to come out that will show this optimization and will soon start to PWN anything on the 360. Bank on it! You know it's true. So deal with it.

personally i hope it is MGS4. having played every metal gear since the very first in the 80's i can't wait to find out. a 360 version will undoubtedly be better than the PS3 especially as we have the best console.

I love many of my 360 games, Fable 2 is the big one I'm waiting for, along with Mass Effect.

Sony Ownz: You can keep MGS. I've played it, didn't enjoy it. I'm happier that it was Silent Hill - now THERE is a series that I've enjoyed!

It's you who needs to grow up. Just because I haven't chosen to shell out £425 ($800+) for a PS3 doesn't mean I've never owned a Sony console or played a Metal Gear game. And what does it matter to you if MGS4 is ported to the Xbox? It doesn't mean you won't be able to play it on the PS3.

@ 38, your right on the money. It doesn't matter whether its a exclusive or not because we still get to play it.

Here is thing though, the 360 and the PS3 are very different to Dev for. If you make a game for one, and port it to the other, the Port will be sub par to the original (look at 30 fps madden on the PS3). And right now many devs are using the 360 as their lead platform .

Sony owners want the PS3 to sell more Hardware so Devs will be more open to using the PS3 as thier lead platform (i.e. the guys at epic with UT3, and Haze)

So the feeling of loss of MGS4 going over to the 360 (at least in the same year) was that PS3's wouldn't start moving of the shelves faster, and more devs would creat for a console they don't own.

The guy behind Sony Ownz is an Idiot, and thinks its a matter of pride or something, to most of us, its a matter of the heath of our console.

Because Xbox gamers went into Best Buy and said, "Oh I cant handle this story"? More like the game wasn't advertised enough, and with games like Halo and Unreal Tournament getting advertised they sold more and the Xbox did become a more FPS-geared console.

That has changed, though. I think there are more good RPG's coming to the 360 than good FPS's this year. Than again, that might have to do more with Halo 3, LOL.
