Special Halo 3 Xbox 360 console announced

Yesterday, rumors were flying around the internet that a new gray Xbox 360 would be revealed. Well, we were close as a new Xbox 360 was shown, but it wasn't gray. Microsoft just announced that they'll be releasing a special edition Halo 3 Xbox 360 sometime this Fall. This army green Halo 3 360 is accented by yellow highlights (think Halo 3 wireless headset color scheme) and includes a matching green 20GB HDD, wired headset, and wireless controller. The package will also include a play and charge kit and limited edition theme and gamer picture set. But what's most interesting is that the console WILL include an HDMI port on the back. So, it's kind of an Xbox 360 Elite/Premium hybrid where you only get a Premium style 20GB HDD, but you also get Elite style HDMI connectivity with only component cables included. Again, Microsoft did not set a firm release date or pricing for the new console.

I would get this...if i wasnt going to be flat broke from buying so many damn games this fall...

This is solely aimed at the hardcore Halo fans that are still on the original Xbox playing Halo 2. When Halo 3 comes to the 360, they're going to want to upgrade, and this WILL be their SKU of choice.

Why does it have to be such an ugly green? Why can't it be a darker cooler looking green? Hell the original Halo edition Xbox 1 looks cooler than this.

I suspect this looks amazing in person - difficult to photograph. The 'orange' is actually the amber/gold of MC's visor. There's lot's of nice details, like the 'battle damaged' top and bottom edges.

I got one of the Halo Ltd back on the old console. I would go near this one with a ten foot pole. That thing is hideous looking.

this looks like a great addition for the halo fans... speaking of being broke, its time for me to look for a 2nd job for all the games coming this fall.... gamefly wont cut it.

plus that wii fit game looks fun, and super smash brothers, THE MADNESS!!!

as far as ps3, i did not see anything that would make me want to purchase one. i give them props for metal gear solid, but didnt see anything that would appeal to me.

the only shitty part about this is that if you upgrade your HDD to 120gb you'll have a cool looking Green and Orange 360 with a dull looking Grey and Silver HDD.

i do like the color scheme on the 360 though. i like the camo looking green with the metallic orange. Great contrast. intRvenous was right on about the "battle damage" detail. Looks good.

great news. im interested in the hdmi port only, and dont want to spend extra money for the 120gb hdd. Looks like the system is tailored just for me. I would rather have a blue console like the new announced controller colour, but really i dont care what my console looks like. Im just concerend about a cheaper then elite system with HDMi port.

Dammit. I'd be all over it if it had the 120Gb drive. Should've just skinned the Elite instead...

so what are they gonna add to the Elite to differentiate it from the HDMI-Premium? I don't think a bigger HD will cut it. Hmmm I am thinking the IPTV features...

Does anyone know about the newer 360's reliability? Is the elite better than the older 360 premium as far as the ring of death goes?

I'm guessing the 360version2.0 with the cooler chipsets will be better...

This is so gay. Why is the game not included? Dump that stupid useless play and charge kit and put the game in the box. This is like if when Sony did the Gran Turismo Edition PS2 if they didn't include the game...

I pre-ordered an Xbox when, after reading about Halo for 4 years in PC magazines; found it would only be available on Xbox.
I bought my second Xbox so I could have a "Halo Edition" Xbox.
Since 360 came out, I've predicted a Halo 3 edition Xbox, and now it comes to fruition.
How F***in lame that it is NOT the 360 to end ALL 360's!?!!
More so, how lame is it for MicroFlacid to stick ya with a box that needs a $150 upgrade (and a non-matching color scheme upgrade at that) right out of the box! AND NO HALO 3 COMES WITH IT!!!!?!!!!!!!!!

same here. my original xbox broke almost 3 years ago, if not longer, so this is perfect timing. i was gonna wait til halo 3 came out & i heard somewhere that microsofts probably gonna release it right around sept 25, but dont hold me to that...

That is exactly my situation DjDATZ. I really have had no reason to buy an Xbox 360. My games are Halo 1&2. I definetly think I am crazy to be spending this much on one game. But its Halo what can ya do. I agree that it probably looks cooler in person, and I would prefer this over plain white, or straight black.
