During our recent hands-on session with Assassin's Creed, which we found to be very impressive overall, we were also greeted with some unfortunate news. We hope you don't have your heart set on trying out Altair's acrobatic antics via an Xbox Live Marketplace or Playstation Network demo, because our Ubisoft rep informed us that the company has "no plans" of releasing a demo for the game. Disappointing news to be sure, but then again, you probably already knew whether or not you were going to buy it anyway.

TO LET EVERYONE KNOW YOU SHOULD STILL BUY THIS GAME BECAUSE I WAS READING UP MORE STUFF AND THEY ARNT MAKING A DEMO BECAUSE THE GAME IS SO BIG THEY COULDNT FIGURE OUT WHAT TO PUT IN A DEMO SO AFTER A WHILE THEY DESIDED NOT TO MAKE A DEMO STILL BUY THIS GAME IT WILL BE WORTH IT and just think like how they even really could make one with so much to do in the game

Guess I'll be waiting for the reviews. Despite how good a games looks, not releasing a demo is a warning sign. Kind of like when they don't submit a game for early reviews, but not as bad.

I can understand. I'm assuming the game is meant to be EPIC, meaning it's a whole package deal. It's meant to blow you away. No demo. Only the whole thing. It'd be the equivalent to watching cuts of the best parts of the Godfather, you should watch it in its entirety.

For me, no demo means no buying, at least not full price.
If I can demo a game I may buy it. Otherwise it is a rental. Rentals are usually played to completion and returned, possibly bought if the price drops, but probably not.

gow is one of my favorite games ever yet I didnt purchase it until a week after if came out. I wanted nothing to do with the game but my friends on xbl kept bothering me to buy it cause they were all playing it so i did.
So yeah, I would of bought it in a second had there been a demo. If I had no friends pestering me, I would of never bought it. I think demos for new game franchises should be mandatory. Im sure an assassins creed 2 will not need a demo, but the first one should have one.

To me, a game released without a demo is like a movie released without a trailer -- just bad marketing.

I won't buy it without trying it or reading extensive reviews. The walkthrough looked decent, but there were things I hated too. The gameplay seemed very jagged. I liked the acrobatics. I liked the concept of the fighting, though it looked kinda broken and the animations didn't line up.
Also, a big part is based on the difficulty of walking through a semi-crowded street? Er, that is only true if it is a crowded street of zombies.

Actually they just decided for me that I'm not buying the game. AC is one of those on the fence titles for me since I've already got half a dozen titles I'm definitely buying this winter. Too bad. I still love Jade.

So instead of trying out a free demo and then maybe going out and buying it I will be paying for a rental and then maybe after the price drops going out and buying it. Brilliant idea Ubisoft. IMHO a single decent demo is worth more than all the print ads that they will be running in magazines that nobody bothers to read anymore and all the lame banners that most of us won't be seeing because we use ad blockers put together.

WAY too many good titles I CAN try demo's for this fall are coming out for me to risk blowing $60 (still a ridiculous pricing scheme IMHO)on an UNPROVEN new franchise. I'm sorry UBI, but you guys have demonstrated over and over that you will throw anything out there to make a buck despite the triple-A titles that you guys occasionally release. They have just had their product relegated to the "wait till a price drop in the spring" category especially since there doesn't seem to be a multiplayer component fellow gamers on my friends list would use to compel me to buy early on. I was a little suspect about the game already, now this. It feels like a movie that doesn't have a Wednesday press screening prior to the Friday release.

This game is WAY more than an assasin during the crusades. They probably can't afford to give a demo at the risk of giving away the big surprise. It's got a sci-fi element to it that most people aren't aware of, and they're trying to keep it that way.

I dunno the game trailers and stuff looked cool. And the Prince of Persia games were cool.So i dunno guess I'll see how it is when it comes out. Sucks that there's no demo though.

Im going to buy it. It will be my third game for the X-box 360 but it truly looks good. But I always here about it running smoothly even in the demo there where no glithes that could catch my eye. Im sure it will be a big hit ^^
