Towards the end of the year? As in before Christmas? I just don't see that happening.

I can see it happening and mentioned it before this or the many of the other articles that have speculated this. Sony will continue to price cut until they have some games out that will help sell some systems, what, maybe next year.

It seems to me that cutting too much can be damaging too. You risk some PR backlash for those who bought it just shortly before, although that can be curtailed some... but certainly cutting prices twice in a short time span gives the impression that something is not going right. I know I'd start to feel like I couldn't be sure if I bought it now that they'd just cut it again a month later.

I mean, obviously price cuts are good things for consumers... but I really don't think Sony is going to push it for those reasons. I think it would be better to save for sometime next year, honestly.

But Jack Tretton says this isn't actually a price cut. Sony was just shifting the SKUs around a bit.

I don't see another price cut but some more bundles that will be worth it.

BUT if there was a such a thing from sony of a price drop. I'll go as far as saying a $50 price cut making it $449. Sounds good right there.

They'll just phase out the 60 GB and drop the 80 GB to $499

They should have just done one large price cut before Xmas. Two in 6 months makes you look desperate, which they are. The only thing that took the sting out of MSs origianl Xbox price cuts was LIVE and Halo, neither of which Sony really has yet. Oh wait Killzone 2 and Home! LOL

Everyone keeps talking like MS is going to cut the price, but have any execs mentioned it yet? Or is it purely speculation?

With a $1 billion expense for fixing faulty units, I'm not 100% certain they can cut the price just yet. I won't be too surprised if they do, but I still don't think I'll believe it until I see it.

And until MS drops their price, I don't see Sony having any incentive to drop their's.

Add on to the fact that nobody has ever heard of two price drops in one year, and it makes for a very unlikely occurence.

That being said, I still don't have one, and I'm not getting one just yet. I'll definitely be getting one, but I'm waiting for rumble controllers and that awesome fall lineup to come out.

I know it is foolish but I had never considered the PSII as a cannibalistic entity gluttonously feasting on Sony’s PSIII install base like all too many ghoulish zombies.

Wait a moment. Capcom. Zombies...

Oh man this could get very interesting indeed. Can Sony make a comeback? Can Xbox 360 continue to beat the shit out of the PS3. Will this battle come down to exclusives? Will Home trounce Live? Who knows!!!

I don't see that happening

But then again, i'm not exactly knowledgeable on exactly how much those Blu-ray diode prices are dropping

If the tech gets into cheap, ready circulation quickly, however, it is easily forseeable seeing PS3 hit 360 prices fast

People forget that, of the three, Sony is in a much better position to reap the benefits of component savings. Because they are MAKING the components. Obviously they can cut themselves deals. I mean, let's put it this way...

M$ doesnt need a price cut anytime soon. When HALO ][][][ hits, 360's will be flying off the shelves. Maybe in Nov. M$ will drop the price a hair.

Well wait. is he talking japan only price cut or world wide? Because I dont think this last 100 buck price cut was for the Japanese market too was it? They had already been paying less for the PS3 than us from what I recall, so if they dropped price before the end of the year it would be their first pricedrop and wouldnt effect the US and Euro Prices. Thats about the only way I can figure he means because theres no way in hell sony is going to do another price drop a mere 4-5 months after the first one.

face it gamers. if you want to play sweet games..... you are going to have to pony up.

Price is only an issue to those without the means and those without the ways. Either way they will complain.

So you'd be willing to throw more than a grand at anything that comes your way? There's an older saying for you - "a fool and his money are soon parted".

I'm not saying this generation isn't worth it, but everyone has to make his/her own value judgment here. Price IS an issue, whether you have one dollar or a million. You may be willing to pay $600, I'm only willing to pay $300, another may only be willing to pay $100. Price affects the potential market very strongly.
