I wonder if they'll use the Halo 3 box to roll out 65nm.

So they took a premium and shit all over it. Fucking amazing. 18 months and they've announced 4 different consoles. Seriously, this is getting out of hand.

Oh, and WHERE THE FUCK IS OUR PRICE DROP?

Funny, that black box called the PS3 has had 3 different SKUs in just 8 months. Just add one more in the next 10 months and you'll be eating your words. I can't wait.

What're you talking about? The PS3 fucked it up too! Nintendo was the only one who didn't contribute to "SKU" becoming used frequently amongst gamers.

The PS3 had/has 3 SKUs, however at NO point were all 3 available as a new retail purchase (theoretically) at the same store at the same time...

I hate the over-usage of the term SKU. on another note MS AND SONY need to knock it off with the 10122912 different models with moderate changes. knockk itttt offffff.

HotShotX is on point here. Just because Sony may do it doesn't make it an acceptable business practice. And last time I checked Sony only had 2 SKUs out at any concurrent time. And all signs point to them eventually releasing one, perhaps in different colors.
If this is a limited run not so bad, especially if they keep up the practice and give us something more than the usual Halo themed swag.
IMHO Microsoft messed up when they didn't put a $10-20 wholesale priced hard drive in EVERY console. This will bite them toward the 2nd half of this generation when harddrive caching techniques will come of age, if by nothing else, Sony's insistence to superiorly differentiate themselves.
That said, I find a huge overpriced harddrive unnecessary as I wont stock up on media content that can only be played on ONE device (and I'll take the savings), seriously, who's stuffing they're drives with TV shows.

If the Xbox Premium switches to HDMI, and when it switches to the 65nm chip, I'm using my Best Buy warranty to get a new 360 again. Smart huh!

Maybe if you were stationed in Iraq, that colour scheme **might** (might) make some sense.. otherwise its completely out of place in the living room or bedroom of anyone with any remote sense of taste.

Anyways, the biggest issue for MS is that retailers now have to stock FOUR skus of essentially the same gaming console.. lets see how long that lasts; these things arent small. The Costco by my place has two huge pallets of premium 360s .. where are the other THREE skus gonna go?

I'm thinking they'll probably end up making about as many of these as they did of the Halo Xbox 1, making it more of a collector's item than anything else. I can't imagine this having mass market appeal outside of the hardcore Halo fans (most of which probably have 360s already.)

What the hell is the point of this thing if it doesn't have HDDVD and a 120GB hard drive? Seriously I would actually buy it if it had just those two things with the Halo stuff on it. THAT would be worth the upgrade but just for HDMI? Fuck that noise.

When will you people realize the following?:

*There will be NO 360 Price drops till Xmas or Spring or even next summer.
*Those 65nm probably until xmas or even later. My Guess Later.
*There will never be an explanation for the red ring of death
*This Piece of shit pictured above is there to make you people try and forget about the 1st 3 points I made.

Listen, this is how Massive corporations work:

1. Deafen the negatives by roaring out the positives. Were the enormous amounts of replaced 360s addressed during the keynote? NO! Because they are trying to say "I know we fucked up but look at this! For all you Halo Pwners out there we give you that perfect shitpiece to put next to that Master Chief Helmet you already spent well over 140 bucks on and spend another 500 for this one. It;s HALO 3 guys Come on!!!!" and so on and so forth.
2. No extras (such as a 120 GB HD with this console) will be given out cause this special edition 360 is already Special enough and does not need a 120 GB drive. And for what? You will be too busy Pwning n00bs on xboxlive with you Special Halo Edition 360, headset, helmet, controller and of course that trusty helmet for you to feel great about yourself". That is the message I get from these dickheads. I Love my 360 but this is getting rediculous. What's next? oh I know around next summer we will hear this: "Hey We know we go the red ring problems still and are stalling about those 65nm chips but if you spend over 1200 M$ points buying Halo 3 maps we will mail you a free Halo Dildo so you can literally feel our corporate cock up your ass".

I think I ranted enough. My 360 has not ringed yet and when it does I am going to vent the above in a more expanded way.

here in canada, we already have 6 skus, whats a 7th gonna do? http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/subclass.asp?logon=&langid=EN&catid=23363 (the core sku is not listed there for some reason, but still sells there)

Also, I CARE about this new sku, its the one i will be getting. Im getting a brand new hdtv, need that hdmi port, but I couldent care less about video marketplace and large hard drives so why should I pay extra $ for an elite when I dont need the 120gb drive? This is perfect for me, hdmi + 20gb, for cheaper then an elite (assuming). As for the look of the console, I dont hate it, but I would prefer white or black, but in the end, I dont care if its neon pink, its the only one with hdmi and 20gb so its a purchase for me.

Something tells me if you wait a couple months you can get a 20gb/HDMI Xbox without the Halo color scheme you'll definitely wish wasn't there in a year or two.

Why a Halo 3 model? Why not just a green faceplate?
Remember faceplates? What happened to that? Now they've abandoned the faceplates and we are supposed to buy game-specific whole consoles again?

Bundles are not SKU's so there is:
360 Core (most places dont sell it here)
360 Pro
360 Elite

snd this is rly just a paint job and HDMI im guessing it will be limited

Guys, you know the HDMI will be available for all versions of the 360, sooner than later. Microsoft loves to milk the early adopters and is using the proprietary-format hard drive as its method of ensuring some decent margins.

It's classic Marketing 101 crap. The first 360 had only a 20GB hard drive and component level inputs. Want HDMI and a larger HD? Oh well, you have to buy a brand new "Elite" Xbox 360. Now it looks like you can get an ugly-ass Halo 3 version with HDMI but it only comes with a 20GB hard drive so guess what? You have to spend more money on an overpriced hard drive for more capacity. It's a never-ending cycle.

HDMI will be standard for all consoles. Doesn't make sense, and not cost effective, to have two different manufacturing lines to produce two different board.

I'm guessing MS is still trying to clear out the old stock when they stuffed the channel at Christmas time, and use up all the extra ANA chips they have as well.

Remember MS said they shipped 10 million consoles during Christmas time. Recently in that shareholder conference call, MS said only 11.6 million was shipped before June 30. So they only shipped 1.6 million consoles in about half a year's time. They didn't meet their target of 12 million, which was a downgrade from a previous estimated 13-15 million.

These are shipped numbers too, not sold. Who knows how many non-HDMI Xbox 360 are sitting around in stores/warehouses right now, and they need to get rid of them before they can start introducing the HDMI equipped ones.

So they are getting rid of the non-HDMI equipped models by releasing an HDMI-equipped limited edition Halo 3 XBox 360? Right. That makes a lot of sense.

Halo 3 Xbox sports HDMI, but 20GB drive ... wha?

WOW, Wouldn't anyone with COMMON SENSE would of guessed that all 360's will sport an HDMI Port. Glad you guy's are top Notch! lmao

Here's how it works. That box looks sweet to a lot of 13 year olds, keep that in mind as you cringe at it. Falcon chips are coming in the fall, but they still need to dump old stock. Perhaps this box gives them a place to put those chips in an ugly enough case that some people still want the other. MS is no more evil than any other corporation on earth.

Also, Halo3 is a game that many nutz get and it is all they play besides another game or two. MS wants profitable hardware when these WOW type one game only people pick up the system. With this fall lineup, there is no way we are getting a price drop anyways. Those games are going to push units.
