After Peter Moore's not one but TWO inopportune game pauses during the Rock Band demo at the Microsoft keynote, it looks like a new phrase has been born -- "Pulling a Peter Moore."
According to folks at the Rock Band booth, people have been inadvertently pausing the game when they're trying to rock out, causing the music to come to an abrupt halt, and their friends and observers will shout out "Aw man, you just pulled a Peter Moore!"
Reminds us of Andy's "I Schruted it." line from The Office.

Nah, I think you're confused with Sony.. "Man, I took a huge Sony and boy does my stomach feel better".

Sounds like real news to me.

Especially considering a blog is supposed to only contain "real news" and have no commentary on anything else whatsoever.

Something I thought when PM paused the game at the conference. Not the first time I seen this happening, surely a design flaw they need to sort out.

The guitar is probably flawed, but I remember when a lot of people kept hitting the guide button when they were using the XBOX 360 controller. Eventually it stopped happening because they got used to the layout.
As far as Peter Moore's "mishap" I've seen demostrators use this tactic before, where they'd pause the game to prove that they were actually playing a build of the game and not just pretending to play. I believe Peter Moore did this on purpose.

Sure he might have done it once on purpose to show he was playing the game and not synced video, but he did it a couple of times suggesting he didn't do them on purpose.

Peter Moore hasn't been the only one to pull a "Peter Moore" - anyone see that other Rock Band video?
Like someone else has said, it sounds like there is a flaw in the design of the guitar if it is so easy to accidentally pause the game while playing.

Whoa, hold up, you know it is entirely possible that it isn't a design flaw and is just something that happens with inexperienced players. Believe it or not but people have managed to pause GH2 at my house with freaking recessed buttons, so maybe we should assume that harmonix maybe hasn't made such an obvious mistake and that with their years of experience they might know what they are doing...

I don't think it is a flaw in the Rock Band controller. Mr. Moore looked pretty awkward playing onstage. He looked like...a N00B! He was hitting the pause button because he just didn't know how to play.
When I would try to get my friends to play Guitar Hero, every single one of my non-gaming friends would accidentally pause the game while trying to play I Love Rock and Roll, or one of the other sucky easy songs.
One last dumb story: I have this one friend who always forgets that she needs to press start to begin a game. So whenever I'm playing with someone, and they forget to press start on their controller, I tell them to stop pulling a Trish.

Other figures of speech:
To shiggy a presentation, having high expectations only to be letdown.
Committing a kojima-san, to express a japanese thought in barely recognizable english with little reception.

They are said to be already working on a software fix for this problem, so I guess they will change it so that the button must be held down for slighty longer, so as to avoid accidental pausing.
