Just like GDC, Nintendo instead focused on the real target. Game Developers for GDC and mainstream media (for their mainstream and expanding audience) and retailers for min-E3. There will still be Leipzig and TGS and E4All that can tailor to consumers but Nintendo picked the right focus to expand themselves at min-E3.

Actually, those newspapers are spot on. E3 is a press event now, not a consumer event. Microsoft and Sony treated it like a consumer event, Nintendo was the only one that actually played to the press. They got their return in spades from the MAJORITY of the press, which is NOT gaming oriented. And that will lead to further returns in the consumer market that reads the press' information. So in that respect, Nintendo wins E3.

If this were, say, TGS or E For All, then it'd be right to say Sony won.

I like that robot, but it looks like batmyke's robot is cooler because it looks like a sentinel from war of the worlds. Even though this robot could just slice Batmyke's machine... DARK!

Frankly, I'm getting tired of the gaming press. I remember sitting in my living room watching "pundits" from the gaming press rip the DS to shreds, while they heralded the PSP. They did the same to the Wii.

If Nintendo is able to garner such attention in the mainstream, then they must be doing something right. While Killzone 2 looks amazing, and Halo 3 will be a huge seller, those games are just more of the same.

and nintendo's MULTITUDE of puzzle games aren't the exact same crap they've been shelling out since the beginning?

the game press singely handly killed the dreamcast by selling the hype of ps2, and in the begining the ps2 was literally all hype. the problem with the gaming press is that by thier nature they are all 'hardcore' gamers and they generally jaded and hard to impress. Nintendo has made a product for the masses and now Sony and MS have to fight over a dwindling hardcore market.

No one realizes how bringing the mainstream press into this is bad... -_- Nintendo is doing good and making their company huge, yet they're killing the gaming business.

I guess it could be construed as "killing" the gaming business.. if you consider trying to expand the video game demographic "destructive" in the slightest. I laugh when I read comments like these, because Nintendo's strategy isn't harming the "hardcore" crowd one whit..as much as I'm sure we all want to see every one of Mario's nosehairs rendered in glorious HD. I'm already enjoying a good, solid lineup of games on my 360, and things are starting to look up for the Wii on that end, too, especially for those of us who.. you know.. like Nintendo franchises. :P

"Killing" as in "Darth Vader KILLED Anakin Skywalker" then yes, you could say killing

Its a metamorphosis, if anything. Of course titles like No More Heroes, NiGHTS 2, MP3, Galaxy, and Brawl will help keep Wii grounded in hardcore gamerdom
