Well, we won't need those boats if they add ninjas because ninjas can run over water. O_o

I'm sorry, but what game has this schyster made that even comes close to matching his own self-created hype?

Ninjas are better than pirates anyway.

Obviously it means you'll be able to play as a ninja.

That's cool

OK, I have to step in here, this is no loss to the game since we didn't know about it to begin with. We're not losing anything we ever knew we had, it's not like he promised us all seafaring and then pulled the rug out from under us.

PM has stated many-a-time with Fable 2, that he ONLY announces features that are already in the works. He's not doing the whole "well maybe we could have this feature in the game..." bit this time, and then not coming through. He's not shooting his mouth off about stuff he MIGHT put in the game. Again, this time, he's ONLY telling us about stuff that either is 100% in the game, or 100% isn't.

And on the topic of the Fable 1 hype, you know what? Get over it. It's your fault for listening to hype in the first place (and by "your", I mean anyone). Hype is what it is... hype, nothing more. Did PM shoot his mouth off a lot? Yes, yes he did. But a lot of the features that were cut weren't even that great (Oh no, children don't act like you! THE WORLD MUST BE ENDING!).

If you can get past the hype, Fable 1 was still a top-notch product, that came through on the majority of its promises, just not all of them. I personally didn't listen to any of the hype, I didn't know about most of it until post-cut, so I can understand people's dashed expectations... but that's the nature of life. Anywho, after I learned about the hyped features, I wasn't all that impressed.

In summary, he over-hyped Fable, we get it. Here's what I want you to think about though: what proud father doesn't over-hype his child? When a dad says his son is the best baseball player in the world, he's just being a proud father. That's all PM was when it came to Fable, a father, who was proud of the product of his, that wasn't quite as amazing as he said.

I digress... the man is trying to make amends by giving us everything the last game didn't, and more, so give him a break. He has publicly apologized for over-hyping Fable 1, many many times. Not only that, but he then created Fable: The Lost Chapters to give us many of the things he promised AND released it at a budget price. If that wasn't enough, he's kept his word by only hyping the aspects of this game that already exist.

My problem with the guy is not that he just overhypes his games - it's that his games aren't even very good in the first place. I've played (and sadly owned) Populous, Black and White, and Fable. All disappointed horribly, regardless of the hype. Why is he famous again?

while I belive this game wotn live up to the hype during teh first one, i have slightly more hope for it because we are actually seeing some of the stuff in action, where as in the first game all his bold claims came without showing any of it.

Even if the games don't come out perfect, it's nice to have some guy brainstorming and talking about all of this high-concept stuff in the first place, no?

Ninjas confirmed. I am looking forward to this game, but there are certainly other titles above it on my list. Fable 1 was really fun, I thought. I didn't follow his hype so I don't even know what didn't make the game. My roomate bought it, I played through it twice, it was really fun, but it was way too short and way too easy.

molyneux is one of the very best... fable didn't turn out to be anything like i imagined, but it was still an incredible game.

Fable 2 looks gorgeous, and while i'm sad there will be no sea-faring, it bothers me that you Nazis attack him over it. would it be better if he never attempted to add anything new to the game? =)

there's a difference between a dreamer and a liar... one is Jesus, the other is the Pope.

Molyneux wouldn't be viewed so badly by the bulk of gamers if he would just shut up pre-release and not promise us the moon. Having said that, did he ever promise seafaring before? If he did, it's one more example of how he can't keep his promises. If he didn't, then cut the man a break already =P.

Fable 2 is going to end up 3 parts dog, 2 parts combat, and 1 part pirate. Those seem to be the areas he pays the most attention to these days.

=o Here he goes again! That PM! What a genius he is, always mouthing off before he suddenly realises: "Oh, no! It can't be done! Not in this product cycle!"... now, if only he could get that old 'populus' designer magic of his back... o=
