Nobi Nobi Boy: new PS3 game from Katamari creator
Should PS3 fans be sad about the loss of Katamari Damacy on their system? Not necessarily. Keita Takahashi – creator of the famed rolling series, ostensibly on a break from playground design – has just debuted a new game for the PS3: Nobi Nobi Boy. Considering "nobi" means "stretch" in Japanese, we can probably expect a game that does for stretching what Katamari did for rolling.

knowing nothing about it except the name and that single piece of art, I am still getting it day one.
synce @ Jul 17th 2007 10:45AM
Finally a game that promises to make full use of Cell technology.
Anam @ Jul 17th 2007 10:08AM
Too late. They already made Snake.
Alex @ Jul 17th 2007 10:14AM
Between this, Everyday Shooter, MGS4, Little Big Planet, and the inevitable Fumito Ueda game...
I'm starting to worry about myself.
Chris @ Jul 17th 2007 10:17AM
This guy is just such a jerk about everything it makes it hard to get excited about his properties now. For Katamari to be such a fun free crazy atmosphere it doesn't resemble it's creator at all, and is just a product he made to sell. It kind of destroys the illusion that it was made by a bunch of care free people.
He's kind of like a Japanese David Jaffe.
Michael @ Jul 17th 2007 10:20AM
Y'know, I'm actually getting excited over a PS3. Who would've thought. And forget Wii and it's sexual innuendoes, I want to play NOBI NOBI BOY. YEAH!
Curmeo @ Jul 17th 2007 10:22AM
anyone know if this is an exclusive?
Anam @ Jul 17th 2007 10:25AM
I would assume it is simply because Joystiq said "new PS3 game," rather than "new game."
However, I've been wrong before.
Konny @ Jul 17th 2007 10:26AM
Of course it is.. Wii cant handle the 1080p graphics, next gen AI, and Havoc2.5 physics engine :p
Christopher Grant @ Jul 17th 2007 11:01AM
No idea. It was announced at the PlayStation Premiere event in Tokyo for PS3, but that in no way confirms an exclusive status.
Sony Intern @ Jul 17th 2007 10:25AM
David Jaffe, can suck balls. I hate that guy.
chad @ Jul 17th 2007 10:31AM
This game seriously looks dumb!
JodyAnthony @ Jul 17th 2007 10:43AM
you look dumb, dummy
Jacob P. @ Jul 17th 2007 10:46AM
Oh! Sick burn!
Brad Lee @ Jul 17th 2007 10:50AM
I don't know if I'm supposed to be turned on or disgusted...
john @ Jul 17th 2007 10:51AM
stretching is the new rolling
megaStryke @ Jul 17th 2007 10:57AM
Sooo... uuuhhhh... what DO we know about this game other than its a PS3 game from the Katamari guy?
Christopher Grant @ Jul 17th 2007 11:02AM
That it's got a worm ... who probably stretches. That's it.
Anam @ Jul 17th 2007 11:04AM
That it is named "Nobi Nobi Boy" and involves stretching him out to accomplish some (probably very odd) goal.
...or maybe there is no goal. That is also possible.
Zero_ @ Jul 17th 2007 11:04AM
Absolutely nothing, but it'll be interesting, I can tell you that.
Anam @ Jul 17th 2007 11:04AM
Damn. Beaten by Mr. CG himself.
JonnyBoy2U @ Jul 17th 2007 11:14AM
So uhh yeah this looks pretty dumb.
But hey its a ps3 exclusive so at least it will look nice graphically.
Mr Khan @ Jul 17th 2007 7:22PM
Given Disgaea 3, even graphical prowess isn't a given anymore
But i think it will be fun, knowing Katamari
Tony @ Jul 17th 2007 11:16AM
Well, it's about a two headed snake man. That's all I need to know.
mccomber @ Jul 17th 2007 11:23AM
Awesome. We know basically nothing about this game, but we already have people saying it looks dumb.
You guys are either clairvoyant or asshats... I know which I'd be willing to bet on.
Jonathan Tran @ Jul 17th 2007 11:27AM
I actually read a spoiler of this in NeXT-May
You will start with a very small stretching capacity, adn will go around the world eating small rubber bands, worms, gum.
As you get bigger you can stretch your way to bigger objects like trampolines and bungie cords, consuming them.
Eventually you will be quite large, at which point you must absorb parachutes, balloons, etc. Your magical space uncle will beam all this matter into a new rubber band ball, to replace the ones he lost.
Anam @ Jul 17th 2007 2:36PM
Are you being serious? It sounded like you were making a joke... and yet, it all sounded plausible considering that this is being made by the guy behind Katamari.
By the way, I got Homeworld 2. However, I've been very busy, so I don't know when I'll get a chance to play it.
Elmersglue @ Jul 17th 2007 1:31PM
wth, the concept sounds...limiting, doesn't it?
Jonathan Tran @ Jul 17th 2007 2:51PM
Anam let me know when you play Homeworld.
Also, Vagyr ftw.
Grindstone @ Jul 17th 2007 2:54PM
Looks like radio-active puppy poo. It glows green... Don't walk around bare-foot.
Leshrac @ Jul 17th 2007 3:02PM
Ooooohh... Snake, in 3d!
Anyway, hopefully it'll be good and help justify the $500 I just plunked down on a PS3.

Totally OT, but I can't take it anymore:
Why is everyone's avatar Paper Mario?
Anam @ Jul 17th 2007 4:19PM
It's metaphorical. Paper represents journalism and mario represents plumbing and sewage.
...
@Joystiq: Please don't ban me.
Actually, it's a temporary avatar while Joystiq works on getting the actual system going.
Jamesology @ Jul 17th 2007 9:03PM
It's funny how he bailed from Katamari and it was given to 360. Lmao, 360 gets all the left-overs.
Wii/DS and PS3/PSP is all I need.
