This is indeed big news. With Kutaragi replaced and now Peter Moore, Kojima is finishing his Metal Gear series, you have to wonder where the gaming industry is going. It looks like its going to be one hell of a time for the new generation to come in and do what the older generation did not. Hopefully, they won't make the same mistakes as our old buddies in gaming.

Thinking about it, I mentioned in a reply that he managed to make Microsoft likeable. Microsoft! Considering most people here think EA bites the heads off kittens, how much do you think EA are willing to pay him to do what he did for MS for them?

Makes sense if you think about it.

I can't wait until the first time he has to plug something for the PS3. I can't blame him. He saw the boat tilting and deck chairs full of screaming 360 customers sliding to the far end of the boat and he grabbed the nearest life preserver and jumped.

(I like Peter Moore, but I'm a cynic too)

The man knows when to take his hat - brilliant!

Peter Moore @ SEGA: Dreamcast sunk.
...
Peter Moore @ MS: Red Rings of Death burn money.
...
Peter Moore @ EA: Madden-NFL-series is cancelled.
...
Peter Moore joins Sony ;)

I dunno. He's a PR guy, and everyone who has a Dreamcast loves it to bits still. He must have done SOMETHING right.

Is there any any chance that this means that EA is thinking about making their own console? Is someone at EA thinking what if the the only way to play our games is on an EA machine? Imagine in 2 or 3 years that the only way to play madden or nascar or the sims would mean playing them on EA's own console?

Holy crap you could be onto something there.. If there was one publisher out there to launch its own console EA would be the only company able to pull that off.

BTW, WTF happened to J Allard??? He was the face of the 360 when it launched

I hate to see Peter leave Xbox, but I'm sure he's going to do very well for himself at EA Sports. I believe he has a past in sports marketing (with Reebok), so this job will combine his passion for both games and sports.

Good luck Peter.

EA has already launched it's own console...the 3DO.

It didn't work out very well. I don't think they'll try it again.

J. Allard went to work on Zune. I think he's still working on it (it needs a lot of work).

that explains why he seemed very ignorant about recent news during Joystiq's interview.. hmm he should have just release the failure rates as a 'revenge' XD (no offense, just a joke)

anyways, kinda shocking, too sudden.. refresh the page and suddenly come out these news.. very unexpected

Shocked to say the least.

I'll definitely miss him. I wonder why he resigned? Anyways best of luck to him at EA.

The new guy has some huge shoes to fill...

He saw the handwriting on the wall. It says:

Sony price drops (sold out on Amazon)
Sony software begins to hit en masse
MS has no plans other than HALO3
Get out now or be part of the real world cast of Lost

Well this certainly came out of left field. Peter Moore was actually a pretty decent PR guy. Wonder what really made him leave?

So... anyone actually know who the new guy is?

Man, I'm not on the Internet for one day, and look what happens.

I wonder what will happen to Microsoft's "image" now that one of its most prominent "faces" is gone, and more importantly, I wonder how the game division of the company may change.

No matter what, this is definitely huge news. O.o;;

The MS image is going to show it's true rnning colors now that the competition is picking up the pace. No matter what certain biased websites do to try and stop it by attacking positive Sony news with euphemisms and promoting micellaneous MS news while great Sony news is available.

This isn't really a big deal. Large corporations roll over their officers all the time. Its the way they keep the good 'ol boys club running and all of them retaining large salaries.

My company changes officers every two years and yet, amazingly, the company still chugs along in the same direction, choosing similar paths of business.

I really put little faith in the head honchos, they are just there for salaries anyway. Its the innovation and R&D departments that come up with new ideas and the best way to use them.

Let's face it, the Dreamcast was a failure, the XBox 1 never turned a profit and now just after announcing a 1 billion dollar repair package for just about every 360 out there, is it no surprise he's going?

Peter is the first "rat" to jump off the Xbox360 sinking ship. With the lack luster show at E3 2007, and a strong performance by both Sony and Nintendo, the Xbox360 market share will keep shrinking and Peter knows that. The Wii "factor" and starting to fade away and with the price cut by Sony on the PS3, the PS3 will be the most sought after system by far. The better system, better games, free network play, built-in wifi, hard-drive and blue-ray player the PS3 right now is on a roll. Store are reporting shortages of the 60 gig models, lots of 360s collecting dust.
