Moore working for EA is yet one more reason why I'm gaining respect for EA.

Almost seems like Tretton is trying to rub this change in. He's a douche bag so I wouldn't put it past him.

His face pisses me off.

These guys have to work together now. It's not about "kissing ass".

People outside the industry have this weird idea that these guys all sit around and contemplate beating each other up. The truth is, and I say this having worked in the industry for a publisher for five years (which is about as long as Peter Moore has), these guys are all sitting around having beers with each other anyway. What do you think happens at E3, that every publisher and manufacturer just walls themselves off from every other? No - half these guys used to work at other companies, and they all hang out together. The bitter feuds are reserved for fanboys; the execs and other employees are all on friendly terms.

Exactly, even in politics you usually don't have people plotting to beat the shit out of each other (except in the more extreme cases)

hatred makes for good marketing, rallying the fanbase in a kind of "us v. them" mentality is good for solidifying brand loyalty

With a six or seven figure salary, I'd be a pretty happy guy too =).

I think Peter Moore will get along not bad with Sony's executive. He seems like when he's working for a company, he is there to get the job done. As one other poster said in another thread, its like he's trying to tell you something he's really excited about and wants to share with you, not try to push a sale on you.

That does put him in something of a pickle...

"So Peter, does the new EA sports game play as well on both systems?"

"I... That is, the 360 version obviously looks great and so does the other, ahem, that other console... You know, the one that isn't MS...

"Sony?"

"Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnooooooo...yyyyyyess?"

I CANNOT DO IT!!! IEEEEE!!!!

*Head explodes*

Most of you forget, he is working for EA now, not MS anymore.EA is going to be putting food on the table for his kids now, with that being said.
His main focus is to capitalize from all consoles, Wii, PS3, 360, not play favorites.

EA Sports has ben cross-platform for several generations. It would make bad business sense to focus in on one now. Sports games succeed by their mass appeal - something you can't achieve on just one platform.

It's ins EA's best interest to make it as good as possible for every platform possible. And since Moore now works for Ea, you can bet he's going to try his hardest to make sure it's great on every system - including PS3. Heck, they even make Madden for the Wii.

Why wouldn't they do their best for non-MS system when there's money to be made there?

People should really think before they speak.

"Eh, just port the PS2 version over. Who gives a ****"

But seriously, he'll do a good job, for ALL platforms I hope.

Ha ha. Now that Moore has established a relationship with Microsoft... It will be easier for Microsoft to garner exclusives through EA. Sucks to be in the PS3 camp right now. I'm sure Microsoft will be the ones putting food on the company's table. Even though their games suck.. gamers go where the games are.

I am still curious as to who is going to ask him first. "So now that you dont work for a specific company, tell us your true opinions on the consoles out."

I just got a vision of a future Peter Moore interview...

-Joystiq- "So Mr. Moore, why does Madden on the 360 have so much more content and look so much better than the PS3 version?"

Moore- "Well that's simple. You see we are pushing the PS3 to its limits, I mean we are REALLY smokin that little piggy! But we're only using about 50% of the 360's power. So we simply couldn't do everything we wanted for the PS3 version. Moreover, the PS3 sucks--Next question."

Sucks to be Sony right now...it really does.

Negative, yeah that makes sense, since you can get computers now that blow the 360 out of the water, but the cell is still untouchable in the processor department. And how does it suck to be sony? Because moore is going to EA? Yeah, that makes sense. Moron.

It's pure fiction that the PS3 is powerful. It's a testament to the power of marketing that you think so based on nothing more than hype. At least Moore was honest. He didn't tell all but what he did choose to say was truthful.

I wouldn't worry about him playing favorites, he seems too honorable for that.

@ GWolf,

dont be so quick to come to the conclusion that PS3 is less powerful than 360. im not saying it isnt, but im not saying it is either. we'll have to wait another year or two before we truly find out.

Dreamcast games had better graphics/performance than early PS2 games? why? because PS2's architecture was hard to develop for, unlike Dreamcast which virtually had the same hardware as Sega's arcade machines in Japan. Plus it ran on Windows CE and developers were able to grasp development on DC fairly easily.

Same story with Xbox1. it had PC hardware and a windows environment.

GameCube, and i gotta hand this to Nintendo, had excellent hardware which was perfect for game development, unlike PS2 which needed some time before games started looking better than DC games.

PS3's cell processor is even more alien/foreign than PS2's architecture was back for developers during its early years.

The PS3 is indeed a powerful machine but is just very difficult to develop for. At the start of a machines life cycle, everything is based on hype so it all comes down to the games. If Sony can get the tools to the right developers then everything will be fine.

As far as Peter Moore goes I think that because EA is a Company in a competitive BUSINESS that he will do what is right for his employers which is to partner with Sony AND Microsoft to ensure that quality games are made for both.
