Aaron Greenberg: no X07 this year

Hopefully they'll do something because there seems to be an odd amount of people that think because their E3 conference concentrated almost solely on 2007 that they have nothing for 2008.

WTF MS! You have ridiculous amounts of bad press with the hardware problems, you just lost your "face" of the Xbox 360 and your E307 press conference was a resh of what we've been hearing since the last E3. Now is definately not the time to clam up! PS3 is gaining momentum in Europe and everywhere else for that matter. You are not Nintendo who seem to be the only console that doesn't need to say much because they are killing in sales. You need a huge boost and now!

If this was the first management decision from the new guy then I already don't like him.

Notice how he says "not a REAL X07 this year"...
And the way he words the rest of it has me suspect that he knows what they are doing instead, but cant announce it yet.
There was word of something coming in October to XBL that is going to be as substantial as the Video Marketplace... could this perhaps be the 'program' they will be revealing the information on 2008?

This is of course speculation, so make your own decisions, just putting it out there.

Well i'm going to enjoy my last fall of 360 exclusive play. I'm already planning on getting a PS3 next year. Finally getting some games that i can get excited about.

either way this sounds like a very blank 2008 for MicroSoft. i remember 2004 was the year of Xbox before Halo 2 came out. then what'd we have 2005? Jade Empire?

this year Halo 3 comes. MicroSoft's holy grail nuke bomb. next year we'll have what? Too Human Fable 2 a few sports titles?

I hear bioware is intrested on making a Jade Empire 2....and Gears of war2 might be finished by Q3 or Q4 of 08(I hope its 09 thoug because we all know what happens to great titles with rushed sequels..*cough SplinterCell!*...)
Theres also AlanWake...which Im particularly looking forward on playing...Warhound okay..Rares Bajoo Kazooie is comming out 08 for sure....and Sakaguchi seems to be deticated on releasing alot of titles for xbox...CryOn,BlueDragon2....and announced a new
project and he said its "half MMO and Half RPG" which I found VERY hallarious because that = MMORPG....

Yup...Xboxs future looks bright..with new 65nm models...new warrenty.....but what Im worried about is...Xboxs New "face"....big shoes to fill IMO

Come on MS this is not the time to neglect te euro gamers. We are already getting shafted by Sony. I was really hoping on some big announcements in X07 now we have to wait for the Leipzig Games Convention and TGS....

Except for Soul Calibur IV, Resident Evil 5, Saints Row 2, Alan Wake, Fracture, Banjo-Kazooie 3, Fable 2, Castle Crashers, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Marvel Universe, Online, Civilization Revolution, Dark Sector, Major League Baseball 2K8, etc...

@9 --- Damn right!!! 2008 will seem like a down year when the 360 will see roughly 20 titles released between August and December. Still, even if the 360 does half of the sales that they are doing now, they will still be ahead of Sony.

Microsoft (as well as the press/media/community) has been saying "Fall 2007 will be the BIGGEST video game releases in HISTORY!"

Thats all fine and dandy, but really NOTHING at E3, no X07.... what is all of it then? I'm not as nearly as hyped!!!

If they wanted to really sell this stuff, just for goodness sakes, show some more trailers/demos

After having such a lackluster performace at E3, it makes me seem like that all these release are "meh", which they aren't... I really think it is going to be the biggest year, but I dont' see any reason to think that

I don't know, I think most people's perception that the conference was "meh" was because they only concentrated on 2007 stuff. Showing more of that now isn't suddenly going to make different groups of people care.

Most of the complaints have to do with the unknowns for 2008, particularly as far as first party stuff goes. As far as more hype goes this year, I imagine things will pick up once these games start getting closer.

@#9 - Yes, those are some great games it's just a shame all but 2 are mutliplatform games. Nothing wrong with that, except I don't know how much of an advantage that gives MS when you have someone like Sony's huge 1st party dev scene and the fact that they seem to be announcing a lot of exclusives lately. The 360 has some awesome advantages but it's the games that drive the gamer to the console, unique games that can only be had on the respected platform. Wanna do WiiFit, buy a Wii, you want Killzone 2 or Resistance Fall of Man, get a PS3. Want Halo, just wait for it to drop on your PC, want Gears of War, just wait for it to drop on your favorite platform of choice, want to play Mass Effect it will be on the PC as well. I hate sounding negative and I am by far not an expert in marketing this is just how I see it.

@9 your naming a lot of games coming to the PS3, the producers of alen wake still doesnt know if its gonna be exclusive it was first announced on the PS3 then moved to 360, bango kazooie are you being serious is he gonna be MS's poster boy like mario for nintendo, saints row was cancelled for the PS3 but saints row 2 is a possibility. FABLE 2 is the only thing the PS3 definitely wont get! 08 doesnt look good 360. I haven't heard of Gears coming to anything other then 360 and PC, and I would be in shock if this changed.

Sure, you could buy Halo 3 on the PC...in like 3 years...you honestly think most people are willing to wait that long? I would bet money that at least 90% of the people who bought halo 2 for the PC had it on the xbox originally.

This is very bad. When Microsoft announced nothing new at E3, the only thing i could figure was that they were gonna save all of the announcements for X07, their own private little Xbox E3. Now X07's gone? This tells me only one thing, and thats that 2008 will be the worst year ever for Xbox.

This is very bad news for Microsoft, as Sony is starting to build some momentum. They had a very good E3 showing and are starting to find their stride. Microsoft needs to show us what they have planned for 2008 so that we'll know if there's competition for Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid. Without a preview of 2008, many people will buy a Playstation 3 during the holiday season in anticipation of these titles..

they will be fine, theres more gaming conferences coming up this year, they can announce stuff at those
they really are probably doing it to not take away attention from halo 3, mass effect, the rest of the holiday lineup (which will get enough attention in the other shows, you know so people dont hold out for some other game instead
maybe they may give hints and tease people at the other shows, just giving enough info on new stuff to keep people in the know but not enough to draw away sales from halo 3, mass effect, etc
they dont have to be like the ps3 and talk about the games that are coming in 08 cuz theres plenty coming in 07
