DS Daily: Changing of the guard

Fans of the Ace Attorney series have probably figured out that the newest game features a new attorney, for reasons we're not gonna get into here. The point is, our beloved Phoenix Wright is out as the star, and the new kid, Apollo Justice is in. It's not the first time this has happened in a franchise, either. We're not just talking about spin-offs, like Tingle's Rosy Yet Crazy Land of Rupee Insanity, but an honest-to-goodness changing of the guard. Sometimes it doesn't last, as in Metal Gear Solid 2, and sometimes, the change is hardly noticeable, as with the parade of green-clad heroes who are forever saving princesses in the land of Hyrule. But with the Ace Attorney series and other instances, what do you think about it? Does it bother you to lose a cherished hero in favor of some johnny-come-lately?

Still haven't quite forgiven Capcom for killing off MegaMan.

Megaman is dead? When did this happen?

When they stopped using "the" Rockman(Megaman) in games. (Ex: In Megaman ZX, you aren't actually Megaman, but some guy wearing a Megaman suit)

Seeing as how Capcom reuse pretty much all the sprites between games, it wouldn't surprise me if they reuse the personality of the main character to some degree...

I'm not expecting too much of a change in the style of writing or humour.

I really only thought Apollo Justice would have the forefront in this cart and the *next* Gyakuten Saiban would have them both. They'd get two cases each and the last super tricky case where they'd work together. I was hoping Phoenix would be Apollo's Mia Fey--only alive and without my fervent wish that they'd hooked up.
