Peter Moore gives final goodbye to Major Nelson
Before Peter Moore packs up and bids Microsoft adieu to be with his family, EA Sports and a nice paycheck, Major Nelson had a chance to speak with the traveling man about his move.
Moore stresses that the move is really due to his family and is "completely unrelated" to any Xbox 360 warranty issues. The two frequently mention how they'll miss each other, and how Moore will miss his job at Microsoft. Also discussed is his guitar playing ("or lack thereof," quips Nelson). It will be a change, but as president of EA Sports, we doubt he'll even skip a beat jumping back into the limelight.

Does this guy even know what the hell he's doing?
Mike @ Jul 18th 2007 4:36PM
Why do I care about this news?
Anam @ Jul 18th 2007 4:53PM
I don't know why you care about this news. In fact, I find it baffling that you do...
hvnlysoldr @ Jul 18th 2007 4:36PM
So wait he's not going the way of Krazy Ken Kutaragi?
Rubang B @ Jul 18th 2007 4:54PM
Nope. He's getting way more money, living where he wants with his family, and he works for EA now, which is a guaranteed profit-machine for all eternity. Microsoft's games (and devices) division been in the red since before Moore worked there and still is, especially with the billion dollar red ring warranty mess. This is a huge step up for him. His tattoo will be a little weird now; maybe he'll cover it up with some Madden or Sim City ink.
Kazi @ Jul 18th 2007 5:13PM
@Rubang
The tattoos signify exciting things that happened while he worked at Microsoft. Seeing as he had a good run there I doubt he'll suddenly hate them and destroy his tattoos. They're more or less memorabilia for his time working at MS.
The whole move to EA was a pretty obvious choice once you know it sends him closer to his family.
Anam @ Jul 18th 2007 5:03PM
If he works for EA, they can make him a playable character in Rock Band. Yay!
hvnlysoldr @ Jul 18th 2007 5:45PM
He'll totally try to mess you up by "pausing."
Anam @ Jul 18th 2007 5:50PM
Tagline for Rock Band:
"You thought Jordan was hard? Try playing as Peter Moore!"
NobleArc @ Jul 18th 2007 5:25PM
I *really* want that chair.
AwesomeGuy @ Jul 18th 2007 6:57PM
It's not a real chair. It's photoshopped. Poorly. Look at Moore's right hand, your left.
NobleArc @ Jul 18th 2007 6:59PM
Well, yeah, but I still want a chair like that. That's what I meant. ;P
Tim Harding @ Jul 18th 2007 5:51PM
Like this maybe?

probably would have done better going over to 2ksports Peter Moore...Your company makes great games...but truly copy and pasting can only last for so long. Wish you the best tho buddy ol pal.
Waits for the user to respond to me and my comment..geez its a comment ..get over it lol
Mr Khan @ Jul 18th 2007 5:55PM
Yup; the only point where he's losing stature is among the hardcore gamers themselves (which i'm starting to believe is more about how associated you are with gaming culture than anything else), as, in our culture's eyes, the big 3 are the highest point anyone could aspire to, and 3rd parties are lowly by comparison (especially EA)

EA Sports games sell on momentum. Have they released anything new in years?
I'm not sure what Peter Moore will add to the mix. Unless they decide to tackle some new sports.
hotnutz @ Jul 18th 2007 11:14PM
Peter Moore's job will be to tell everyone that even though EA's sports games suck, people should focus on how smoothly the microtransactions are so you buy add-ons that should have been free in the first place.
I've said it before, Peter Moore is going to a division within EA that is perfect for him and vice versa.
Kind of like uniting a toilet with explosive diarrhea. ;)
Rare Hare @ Jul 19th 2007 12:34AM
This guy is the face of Xbox to me, so this is gonna be a really weird change.
oldest gamer @ Jul 20th 2007 11:48AM
Gee. The Dream Cast failed using m$ software with Moore at the helm. Now the 360 fails on so many levels he quickly leaves before the financial results are released to save his ass. Now he must support the PS3 and can finally own one without a guilty conscience. Hopefully EA puts a gag order on this idiot before he takes them down too.
