MGS4 on Xbox 360 'a few months' after PS3, says OXM Rumor Mole

A reliable tipster has whispered in X3F's ear that the Rumor Mole section in the latest issue of OXM claims a "bankable source" confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 4 would be coming to the Xbox 360 "a few months" after the PS3 version. Of course, there have been dozens of rumors insisting this will be the case, but the "Official Xbox Magazine" carries some weight.

Last week, Konami executive Kazumi Kitaue said, "Since Metal Gear Solid was born for the PlayStation, we would like to keep it a PlayStation game. But we might have to take some steps," igniting renewed speculation that the title would, in fact, be coming to Microsoft's console. Obviously, an announcement wasn't made at E3 last week ... perhaps TGS07?

And frankly I'm for this from a business standpoint.

Less exclusives for sony = Less reasons to buy a ps3 = Less ps3 owners = More chance of the ps3 failing completely.

Thats just simple logic there. Maybe it makes me an asshole. If thats the case then so be it. I'm not the only sony hater on this website but at least I'm honest about it. There were plenty of sony fanboys who wanted the Wii to fail and yet that hasn't happened. There are plenty of sony fanboys who still want the Wii to fail right now and yet that won't happen.

Momsron: Yeah, because all Xbox owners are little kids who couldn't possibly have owned previous sony consoles or played any older Metal Gear games (all of which have been on non-Sony consoles at some point, with the exception of Snake Eater.) People couldn't have possibly bought the 360 because it was a cheaper alternative to the PS3 and offered the same things, because that would just be silly, wouldn't it.

Some of us aren't so blindly loyal that we want a game to stay exclusive just so our console of choice "wins" the console war. Some of us just want to play the damn game.

It just makes business sense, though I agree with doshey, I'm only interested in this news when it goes official. The only way I don't see this happening is if Sony gives Konami a ~$100 million exclusivity contract - they could generate that kind of money on the 360 if it gets ported.

You know, if this DOES happen, it'll still not be sanctioned by Kideo, who himself mentioned that it's PS3 Exclusive.

Just like the rumor a few months ago about MGS 4 coming to Xbox 360, but no Kojima shot it down, the rumor before E3 stating that MGS 4 will be announced for Xbox 360 During E3, DId that happen no but instead Kojima even said it himself its exclusive to PS3. Then a few days after Peter Moore said its staying PS3 exclusive (before he left the company) Now you have an Xbox magizine stating its going to Xbox 360.

This all bullshist spread by idiots.

The PS3 has double the units in Japan that the X360 does, It will gain alot of ground there once MGS4 releases. MGS4 is a BIG game in Japan, even larger then here in the states. Also it has a good following in Europe were the PS3 is also doing well.

This rumor needs to die, Kojima said it himself. You will only be able to play MGS3 on the PS3.

Well Konami will probably wait until Sony/Columbia bankrolls the MGS movie for them.

All the more reasons to get it to more people. I seriously doubt there are enough people out there who will be put off about the loss of exclusivity to not want anything to do with a series they claimed to have loved.

I see MGS4 on 360 one time or another... Probably when they make MGS4: Substance..ance or some shitty name like that. If it'll be 'a few months after' PS3 launch, I doubt highly. Just, 360 fanboys, remember that it's just a rumour and PS3 fanboys, rise against whatever baiting the 360 crowd are going to be doing. It does no good for either side's reputation.

Maybe it happens... multiplatform its not a bad thing. I mean, its a bad thing for Sony, but for us the players, its a good thing. Even to Kojima is a good thing, because, he, as an artist, I guess he wants that everyone play MGS.

Well... Metal Gear series was in Nintendo systems way before Sony. And Metal Gears its not as exclusive as SSBB. Metal Gear appear on the Gamecube too.

Hideo Kojima has already said a million times that MGS4 is a PS3 EXCLUSIVE! The game has tons of PS3 elements in it - like Snake "using the Sixaxis" to control the "cell-possessor powered robot" - if ANYTHING, MGS4 could be ported over to PC.

The day the 360 is a reliable console is the day that MGS4 will be on it.

What part of Exclusive do you NOT understand?

All this argument about MGS4 being 'exclusive'. This is just gonna be one of the many 'timed exclusive' games that will first be made for the PS3, the ported to the 360. It's hard to argue that from a financial standpoint. A game made for a system with a < 4mil install base vs. 2 systems with a total 14mil unit install base would definitly recover some of those high rez asset development costs. Am I wrong?

So... later this year when the Falcon becomes the standard 360 sku, then?

Secondly I don't give a shit anymore if its on its way to 360 or not. I'm going to purchase it for PS3 over 360, and if...if it does appear on 360 more power to the ones who buy it for xbox.

I hope it does come out for the 360. I just don't want to spend over $600 dollars to play MGS4. I've supported Sony's 2 previous consoles in the past, but not this time. Nothing that is exclusively offered on that platform entices me, except MGS4. I wonder how big the budget for MGS4 is.
