Even though Microsoft has yet to officially announce any pricing details for the Xbox 360 Elite in the UK, a few retailers have already priced the console and are taking preorders. HMV, Play and GAME stores in the UK are all pricing the Xbox 360 Elite at the gotta-have-it price of 329.99 GBP (roughly $675 US) for its August 24th debut. Like we said, Microsoft hasn't officially announced the retail price for the UK Elite, but with three major retailers all taking preorders for the same price you'd be silly not to think it's pretty much confirmed.

i dont even live in england and am outraged on how much they charge.
then again, the euro is of higher value than our currency and they probably have a higher salary to make up for the cost of living.

Well the elite is $80 more in the US, $80 is about £40 in uk money add onto that 20% VAT and Import duty its the same price as th US
The base price of the 360 however compared to the US is overpriced by about £40 ($80) once you include tax though

WTF i have seen this price B4 when it was first released for America but dropped to $480. does MS plan on selling any ELITES after seeing that price i wouldn't glance at the damn thing. This might turn out to sell more PS3s($600 blu ray player(no assembly required )60gig HD, 2 games, 1080p, DVD & GAME UPSCALER, free online) UNLESS THE ELITE GETS A BUNDLE knowing MS IT WOULD PROBABLY COST MORE. this development is not good. The UK has been waiting for this and MS gives them that outrageous price for space i wont fill. looks like no price drop in the 360. if they did it right after this release it would just be wrong. i hope this info is wrong for MS's sake. MS you can no longer bad mouth SONY until you fix this price(FANBOYS INCLUDED).

at #5: *sigh* yeah I know.. It still stings when we see the price in dollars though.
Still, I've got my Premium system- I'm happy. The Elite doesn't bring a massive benefit, in my opinion. Now if it had a built in HD-DVD drive and was about 1/8 as noisy it'd be another story..

To Bestofbothworlds:
...The elite in the US at least is almost impossible to come buy. I work at a Target and our elites go even faster then our Wii's. So there is quite a bit of demand for the elite. For the rest it takes a couple of days, but our premiums always sell out as well. If you've ever taken economics you would know it's all about supply and demand. If demand is exceding supply then there is no reason to lower the price. Now if those consoles were sitting in the case for an extended period of time then it would be a good idea to lower the price, but that simply isn't the case.
I was actually talking to a Microsoft rep the other day about the possible price drop, and what she said was basically, "I don't see that happening anytime soon, they're still selling well and we're finally making money when we sell a console."
"this development is not good. The UK has been waiting for this and MS gives them that outrageous price for space i wont fill"
A lot of that added cost is for the numerous taxes that Britain has that we simply don't.

Wow thats really messed up. 675 in US but in the us we can buy it for 480? And lets not forget that most likley very soon there will be a price drop.
Dose the uk get a few games with it or something like that to merit the same thing costing almost 200 dollars more?

@8 for the UK But your local target sales dont account for a global scale sale, just like i couldnt find a PS3 in my local target, i had to drive over 20 miles to some rural area to get mine as for the 360 when i bought mine at that same moment a kid and his grandmother(SHE WAS OLD IDK) came in with a busted 360 so i opted for the extended warranty. :) @8 so how does the PS3 maintain its price in UK doesnt MS have dominating global presence when it comes to hardware so i hardly find that as an excuse ?how much does a premium package cost in the UK? The demand is great in the US but its starting to slow WorldWide. At E3 how was the best rated game for the 360 multiplatform (cough COD4) is that good? it seems like the tables have turned if i didnt have a 360 i dont see any reason to buy one right now if all they have to offer is HALO3 & MASS EFFECT what happens if i never owned an xbox why get HALO3. so now its just MASS EFFECT and FABLE 2 is next year. i for see a rush of unfinished games.

@12 Component is an anolouge signal that is sent through 5 cables to your hdtv (2 for sound, 3 for picture) Component has all the resolution of hdmi but can have a slight blur of colours around things. (Espitially people in oblivion...)
hdmi is a digital signal sent through 1 cable to your hdtv. It has full 1080p support and provides the crispest picture you can get on your 360 unless your using VGA which provides an equally good picture.
I was going to get an elite but it was taking forever to come out in the uk so i just bought a premium for £265 with gears and crackdown which was a pretty sweet deal.
