Watch Activision alienate E3 audience with Jamie Kennedy
Apparently the press conference was so bad that our own blogger who covered the event M.I.B. flashy-thinged himself to forget the horror and won't even watch this video. After you watch it, you'll probably understand why. Remember, this is a press conference ... full of press. We're still waiting for video on the Disney press conference, which was apparently worse -- but for different reasons. Descriptions of the Disney event are mostly profanity laced and we'd prefer not to write up quotes where every third word needs to be edited.

Thats embarrassing...
Richard Mitchell @ Jul 19th 2007 3:27PM
Disney press conference ...
*shudder*
Triforceowner @ Jul 19th 2007 3:28PM
OXM talked about that and I wanted to see it. Thanks Joystiq!
dpad @ Jul 19th 2007 3:30PM
Watch till the end people.
He gets owned not once, but twice - and deserves every bit of it.
What. A. Douche.
Haruhi @ Jul 24th 2007 5:14PM
Actually, I count 4
WiNG @ Jul 19th 2007 3:31PM
I don't have sound. Could someon just list like the top 3 worst quotes that make this so bad?
eldee @ Jul 19th 2007 3:59PM
ehh.. he basically blew off everything tony hawk was trying to say to make erection jokes, called the audience virgins, made stupid noises through the TH:Proving Ground demo, and generally acted like a severe douchebag.
Matt B @ Jul 19th 2007 3:35PM
B-rad, what happened?
doug.s.leonard @ Jul 19th 2007 3:36PM
wow, Activision, I'll emcee for free next year, I'm sure whatever material I come up with will be just as lame as Jamie Kennedys
Alistair loveless @ Jul 19th 2007 3:37PM
Its true that if you stand next to jamie Kennedy, you can actually hear his "career" imploding.. its like putting your ear to a conch shell... but it makes this loud sucking sound.
He needs to get his ass to vh1 where all would be celebrities go to die.
zwarrior @ Jul 19th 2007 5:30PM
He already had a show on Mtv, that counts as worst
E8 Foe @ Jul 19th 2007 3:40PM
Wow. That was painful. Never a huge fan of Jamie Kennedy (the experiment was occasionally funny), but now I'm not even a minor fan. C'mon man, at least try to be likeable.
Anam @ Jul 19th 2007 3:40PM
I see no video. Anyone else having problems?
whosmav @ Jul 19th 2007 3:43PM
Activision is "Down with the bitches and hoes!"
Don't hate!
whosmav @ Jul 19th 2007 3:44PM
How can anyone be offended by that shit? He's just an ass being an ass. Sometimes he's funny.
Phil Butcher @ Jul 19th 2007 3:45PM
could he be more drunk?
Farseer @ Jul 19th 2007 5:55PM
Drunk? I didn't think you could get drunk by smoking pot...
polly @ Jul 19th 2007 3:53PM
Yikes. I wonder if he actually thought that material would just kill.
Neversoft...Viagra...that's gold Jamie, gold!
is @ Jul 19th 2007 3:54PM
I think its just the same problem that we saw with most of the e3 conferences. Its like the people giving speaches didnt get the memo that instead of hyped up energetic game fans they would be speaking to jetlagged cynical, bored press people who were probably far too old and intelligent for the usual e3 'humour'.
felixlighter @ Jul 19th 2007 4:08PM
I'd agree with you but I think they would have had to pump nitrous oxide in to the room to get a positive reaction from any audience with these jokes. It's obvious he phoned it in. I guess he needs the money while he waits for those big "Malibu's Most Wanted 2" offers to come streaming in.
Grant @ Jul 19th 2007 3:55PM
hey kids,
don't do drugs.
do you need any more convincing?
Hater3000 @ Jul 19th 2007 3:55PM
Wow that sucked.Jamie Kennedy is not the best comedian around but he is pretty funny,I don't believe he was drunk I think he didn't prepare any sort of material. It looked like he was trying to improvised all the time but he didn't know what to say other than the cliche jokes like "you people are nerds" or "you never are going to get laid" and so on...
Thats why research is so important. Also Jokes about the gaming industry are so lame, combine that with a pseudo-comedian with no props and you get suckage.I bet Jamie is not going to be in more Gaming events from now on.
Grant @ Jul 19th 2007 3:56PM
i vote for drugged up.
Pete @ Jul 19th 2007 3:59PM
Wow, what happened to this guy?!? The JKX was a hilarious show. I'm sorry, but almost everyone I know liked that show a lot. The setups were clever, and he was quick witted and funny. The B-Rad skits were HILARIOUS because it is so damn true. But, wow, it is clear his career is over because this is a joke...he is just a mean spirited drunk now.
Grant @ Jul 19th 2007 3:59PM
does the "reply" button only work half the time for everybody else? or does joystiq hate IE 7 as much as i do?
hvnlysoldr @ Jul 19th 2007 4:03PM
Hmmm. Interesting. It works for Firefox though.
mccomber @ Jul 19th 2007 4:07PM
I've found it disappears if you vote on a post, but figured it was because I'm on a Mac running Safari.
And, I have to give some credit to Activision for making the rest of the E3 footage I've seen look that much better. Even G4's commentary is great compared to this. Strong work guys, strong work.
Chris Putnam @ Jul 19th 2007 4:01PM
I don't have a problem with his subject matter being offensive. The jokes were just really, really terrible and poorly delivered. Unbelievable.
A better comedian might have pulled off that "Neversoft" joke.
Megaqwerty @ Jul 20th 2007 5:22PM
I wholly agree. His material wasn't exactly terrible: it was his hideous execution that completely damned him.
If someone with a higher CHR score had delivered those same jokes, it wouldn't have been so bad.
WiNG @ Jul 19th 2007 4:03PM
they should have invited Steven Colbert instead to give a speech on the "evil" of gaming
felixlighter @ Jul 19th 2007 4:19PM
Yeah just multiply what ever they payed Jamie Kennedy (apparently they payed him entirely in horse tranquilizers) by a few hundred and Activision could have made that happen. Price of an appearance and dignity are inversely proportionate.
Chris Putnam @ Jul 19th 2007 5:44PM
They're -directly- proportionate! lurn ur math, noob!
felixlighter @ Jul 25th 2007 9:09PM
ouch... I am a noob...
arne @ Jul 19th 2007 4:06PM
This is one of the most painful things I have witnessed. It's almost a trainwreck, but I managed to stop watching it.
E.J. @ Jul 19th 2007 4:08PM
Wow, I heard the Activision press conference was bad, but I didn't think it would be a disaster.
Anam @ Jul 19th 2007 4:10PM
The reply button hates me too. (Notice how I didn't even bother with this one)
p-diddy @ Jul 19th 2007 4:30PM
I'm not a comedian, but I imagine at least one the top 10 rules is "Don't repeatedly point out how few people are laughing at your stuff" and somewhere just below that is "don't thank the pitiful few that are."
Yech.
YouFaceTheTick @ Jul 19th 2007 5:11PM
Not sure what the problem is. Why do companies hire comedians and get upset when they mock the event? Did someone expect him to not take the piss? It's f^cking video games...not something important.
zwarrior @ Jul 19th 2007 5:34PM
He's not the greatest, but I think the audience should have loosen up a little and make the best out of it. The Neversoft bit was pretty funny
GunForHire @ Jul 19th 2007 5:40PM
I love how they put "Jamie Kennedy - 'Comedian'" up at the start.
Awful. Just awful.
AmishPhysicist @ Jul 19th 2007 5:58PM
That guy needs to put the bong down. Especially right before taking stage.
tituspullo @ Jul 19th 2007 6:06PM
that's his brand of humor act like smuck.
Daniel @ Jul 19th 2007 6:15PM
"He's funnier than you" indeed.
What a punkass.
ro @ Jul 19th 2007 6:31PM
You know, I was in that press conference and most of the others. I laughed. You won't believe how boring the other ones were.
avatar @ Jul 19th 2007 7:22PM
Comedy Gold!
Nixon @ Jul 19th 2007 8:57PM
Kids Say NO to CRACK!
Rob @ Jul 19th 2007 9:24PM
wow train wreck
Djuan @ Jul 19th 2007 10:02PM
That was just... horrendous.
He should never be allowed anywhere near video game conventions again...
WiNG @ Jul 19th 2007 10:05PM
I just watched this with sound. This is awful. He is clearly on cocaine.
NvM @ Jul 20th 2007 12:24AM
It not so much that he wasn't funny.
But this was a PRESS event.
God, I'd rather just have someone be boring and explain the new games.
