Introducing it ona game like this is a waste. If they really wanted to make money on this kind of feature, they'd sell it for the likes of Madden and Halo. Let's hope they don't though

Is this the deal sell a 80% finished game then sell the 20% later on marketplace. And APF isn't graphically impressive so how cares for a overpriced replay editor. can you even send the replay to anyone? Ore get the content on your pc so you could put it on youtube..
Is this part of 2k's restructuring there management hoping this will make 2k profitable.

This is exactly what we feared. Developers charging extra for features that should be standard in games. This crap alone will keep me from buying All Pro.

I think its pretty sweet, its only 5 bucks and there could have been development on it just after they started pressing disc.

It would be nice for free but, hey if you like the game its 5$.

Well, a couple factors here I am not sure about.

A) How much is this game selling for new? Is it full price?

If not, 5 bucks aint shit to pay for this feature. plus if U waited,Id bet itll become free somewhere during the prime of the NFL season.

B) Is this a featue that has been in a Madden game? Or is this yet another original idea from 2k sports thats gonna get implemented into all future EA products?
I have no plans on getting this game, but for those of U that play this kind of game,
those are key factors in this that should be weighed in before deciding.

"sell a 80% finished game then sell the 20% later on marketplace."

yeah, gamers need to collectively draw a line somewhere. If people buy those games and the extra content then the publishers are encouraged to sell 70% of a game and sell 30% on the marketplace. They'll keep moving the line an inch with each new game until we're willing to buy a shell of what used to be a game and then pay extra for more content. They already are hitting us with $10 extra for 360 games. Was that not enough?

Joking around with my friend once I came up with a game that will be the pinnacle of this trend called "The Room" and for $60 you get a room that has no furnishings and you can't leave. It's just and empty room. On the day the game is released, you can buy some chairs and a bed for $0.50 each on the marketplace. For $5, you can buy the hallway that lets you leave your room and start on your adventure of exploring the world. Eventually, for $100+ you will be able to finish the same game that would have been $50 two years ago.

Same thing was done for NBA 2K7 and College Hoops 2K7. Guess 2K has abandoned the "value" scheme. Remember when 2K sports games were $19.99 for last-gen consoles? I bought and traded in this game the SAME DAY, a first for me.

And the fact that it's only a 108kb download, pretty much tells you it was already on the disc, and it only, "unlocks" the feature.

Pretty horrible for a game touting "FOOTBALL RESURRECTED" as it's tagline.

All you have to do is look about 3 stories down & see how much microsoft "says" they lost last year & it explains it all.

Somehow I doubt the developer of this game decided to put this up as pay-for DLC just to help MS out.

This irks me.

I bought the game earlier in the week (have yet to open), a HUGE fan of the 2K football series back to the Dreamcast days. I also like the idea of competition giving EA a run for the money.

I've read several lukewarm reviews bought I thought, heck, I'll support them and hope they continue to improve.

This just plain pisses me off - returning tomorrow morning for a full refund.

I guess I don't understand why this pisses people off. The game never said it came with this feature... Personally, I don't care about the feature. Do people really want to throw the baby out with the bathwater? Someone is finally making an innovative football game to compete against Madden (which pretty much sucks every year - the only years they make decent improvements are years in which there's competition), and because you have to pay extra for a "highlight saving machine," people are going to ditch it? Please. The gameplay is very good, I don't understand why people are complaining about the graphics as they look great as well (not GoW great, but still very very good).

To each their own I guess.

I don't play football games, so maybe I can offer a objected (if twisted and weird) opinion on the matter.

I think when they say "download extra content" it should be "extra". Not horse armor so they can get $2 from us later on. I mean $2??? Really is that all you think im good for? The game should have the horse armor included. Instead, sell us a whole new Island that mysteriously appears... Or a deep dungeon that we never noticed before.

In this game, if the game came with a basic reel editor, then they sold you a deluxe reel editor(with features like share with friends, email it somewhere, the X is for x-tra baby), I can see that. But basic functionality should be included in the game. Extra should be something that some crazed fanatic is willing to pay for, something more...

This is just a step away from XBL live selling a version of sonic the hedge hog with the save disabled, then enabling save when you pay em a little more.

Don't get me wrong... I am more than pleased with my xbox. The best gameing system ever devised as far as I am concerned. But the sorts of things I am seeing are starting to make me worried that it may have run its course...

Monster 2 of 2 here from Achieve360Points.com. I can tell you now that any "extra content" download that is 108.00 KB big is an unlock key. All of the downloads for the additional Dead Rising outfits are unlock keys, meaning the content is already on the game disc. You are just buying the right to access it!

To be honest with you saw this up on MN blog and thought wtf...

Seriously someone just stated it was like a mb in size...it's "unlocking" the feature...I highly doubt the game did not ship with this feature already on the disk...makes me hate M$ even more but oh well...enjoy the game don't buy some stupid editor quit crying about it and be all pouty and return the game because of some $5 extra you wouldn't have used anyways...seriously we all know what M$ does just get over it and move on...yea we shouldn't have to live with it and just move on but geeze they gotta make their money somewhere...they did just extend everyone's console an additional 2 years so be freakin happy...! Enjoy the games...support the developers [they gotta play by M$ rules]...don't support the bs...[I still have yet to buy any of the Guitar Hero content because of it's price tag...]

I gotta disagree with your example there monster because textures for that game are easily 512x512 if not smaller...that could be easily a MB in size...

What the hell people? 2K did the same thing with NBA 2K7 and "there was much rejoicing" over the additional content, whether it was used by them or not. Now that Mitchell has finally caught up to the news and is posting more information without doing any research, everyone is complaining. Amazing.

The worst part is, EA Sports does the exact same thing.

Referring to #12, it wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft was up to this. They tried forcing RS: Vegas to have Premium content, but the devs wanted to give it out for free.

I rented this game last night, and all I can say is that they have NERVE!!

This game absolutely sucks, in all facets.

The gameplay is slow, the graphics suck (although the stadiums look ok at times, the field looks horrible and the players do too)

The game feels old in every way, like Dreamcast old.....

And to top it off they put O.J. in the game, fuck that murderer piece of shit!!!

They keep doing this because the community keeps letting them get away with it. Every time we get up in arms over this kind of crap we go to find that 200,000 people paid for the content. Gamers are to blame for this!! It's been said but I refuse to pay for unlock codes like this. But then again Activision is making huge money on GH 2 becuase even at 5.00 for 3 songs people by the 10s of thousands buy it.
Gamers need to stop and really check if content is truly worth the price. Why are we all like lemmings with wide open pockets?!

Who here actually cares about the reel editor? NBA and College Hoops 2K7 did this like someone said, not new news. I just don't buy them... and highlight reels are definitely not a reason to stop playing the game

I say this as a die hard 2K fan who's been waiting for a new football game from these guys ever since 2K5, but charging for the Reel Editor is kind of a low blow. Considering there's no franchise mode, no Crib, and other things missing that could give the game more depth over your typical football game, and that the bulk of the commentary is lifted from 2K5 (which was, in turn, mostly lifted from 2K4), it seems like this is something they could have included to make up for the shortcomings of the game. I'm not spending 60 bucks to hear Dan and Peter say the same things they were saying 4 years ago, and then pay another 5 for a replay editor.

@23:

No, this game is VERY good.

"The gameplay is slow,"
If you think the speed is too slow, then change it in the options section. Personally, I think it's good.

"the graphics suck (although the stadiums look ok at times, the field looks horrible and the players do too)"

The graphics look excellent (at least on an HDTV, don't know about SD). I can even see the stiching on the jerseys! My wife saw me playing yesterday adn said, "It's just like watching the TV."

"And to top it off they put O.J. in the game, fuck that murderer piece of shit!!!"
See, in this country, if a jury doesn't convict you, you're not guilty. (doesn't mean you're innocent, but you're not guilty). Besides, look at it this way - the money he gets from the game will (eventually?) go to the Goldman family due to the lawsuit.

Maybe if they included this Feature in the Game they wouldn't be behind EA.

This game scored about an 8.0 pretty much everywhere.

You don't have the NFL License so you have to go the Extra Mile. Not the Extra Mile when it comes to Charging customers.
