I'm sorry you have such a hard on for bad games but I have seen very little diversity in the games that have been coming out for your two dearest systems. But it really doesn't matter anyways.

Then you ought to do some research. Is Oblivion even anything NEAR Gears of War? No. You are one to talk about bad games, when there is a TON of games on the 360 much better reviewed than the games on Wii, there is like 3 games over 80% for the Wii on GameRankings, compare that to the amount the 360 has, or even the PS3. The Wii is a shitfest, and while it's not neccessarily Nintendo's fault or the hardware's fault, it's still a shitfest. I have hopes that it will improve though.

Thats cool keep playing your 360 and I'll keep disliking it cause in the end your opinion means jack shit to me and mine means jack shit to you but you can bask in the glory of the wii all you want. I also find it funny that you dis the Wii as it has been constantly selling out since it's release and it has been said that those who are unfortunate enough to not have one yet will need to wait or just settle for your beloved but don't fret I still had fun chatting with you.

yes, i agree... as an example, metroid prime 3 and super mario galaxy look better than halo 3...

but Resident Evil 5 is the most amazing looking game i've ever seen... =) it literally rapes any game on any console at this point...

nintendo, or any other company for that matter, has plenty of room to expand beyond the motion controls and pointer that come with the wii...

the pointer has cursor lag, and the motion controls are inaccurate... let's hope nintendo can remedy that in their next console...

honestly, the ds touch and the wii motion and light gun style controls weren't that amazing to me... i kindof expected that...

what really interests me is what's next... what do you do now?

" And while waggle control is a step in the right direction "

You Joystiq guys never get sick of using the term "waggle", fuuny. Is that your way of downplaying the Wiimote. You don't use that term with the sixaxis which only has "waggle" where the Wiimote incorporates IR along with motion input, but you always fail to mention the IR bit eh.

While I would agree that agree that art direction trumps CPU/GPU power (I'm of the opinion that Okami is probably the prettiest game I've ever played) the problem with Wii games up to now, is that the developers aren't even trying. Most of the games look worse than PS2 games, and none of them (excepting the absolutely brilliant Paper Mario game) have had a unique or inspired design to them. No More Heroes does look promising (from the creator of the very stylish Killer 7) but most of the games on the Wii have had what I would call functional graphics: They get the job done, but they don't wow you at all.

You sir, have a very good point. And as I say so let me also say that we'll probably need to wait and see what talented developers can do with a Wii game that ISN'T shovelware. While I don't agree with the poster that said we would eventually see gears of War graphics (seriously people, if you're going to be a fanboy, at least be realistic), I do think that the Wii can do more than most people give it credit for. Just look at Nintendo's big three coming out this year, all look great, especially MP:3. And the good looking games aren't just coming from Nintendo, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles looks AMAZING in action and so do Dewey's Adventure and Zak and Wiki, although the latter two are also quite a bit stylized.

A good comparison of gameplay vs. graphics is Final Fantasy 3 for the SNES and the 3D remake on the NDS. Once you get over the 3D visuals in the DS version it's the same gameplay under the hood. So improved graphics don't make it a better game.

Final Fantasy III on SNES was actually Final Fantasy 6. FF3 on DS is a remake of the japanese FF3, which came out on NES.

But your point is the same. They specifically made FF3DS to be the exact same game, only with a 3d engine.

The Wii is not selling more than 360 and PS3 because it's "better." It's selling more because it's cheaper. Here is an experiment for the industry. Sell 360s, PS3s for $249 each and Wiis for $600 for one month. If Nintendo still sells more then I have no argument.

I half agree with Perry, but I think the lack of Wii's processing power is going to hurt it down the road moreso than its graphical power. Some of the games on PS3 and Xbox 360 are starting to take advantage of the processing power it has not for graphics, but for things like advanced AI, better physics, and more things going on at once. I don't see stuff like that translating well to the Wii, so the gameplay itself will feel last generation.

I'm worried that when I play a game like Force Unleashed and the Indiana Jones game, or that Mercenaries game, I'll go back to the Wii and feel like I'm playing a game with dated gameplay mechanics.

I read this forum alot, and i see a lot of people talkin a lot of rubbish about all, consoles. I think it is a load of bs for people to think the wii is only selling because its a cheaper system. Thats only one part of the story. Hell for most of the PS2's life xbox and Gamecube were cheaper (at least here in Europe). The Wii is selling simply because of new experience, say what u want, but gamers have not played the way they have on previous consoles like the have on the Wii. And for the most part a i think Hardcore gamers make the higher number of Wii owners than actually Casuall ones. There exapmple of people on the comments stating they buy a game just to see how it plays on the wii. Never been Interested in the Harry Potter Games, but hell when it came out for the wii i picked it up, don't c the point on buying it on any other systems, simply because i was interested in the wii it would control. Wasn't all i wished but still was a little entertaning, Who know the may get it Right later on in Wii's lifetime .

The idiot had only made only one good game. So no he doesn't.

This was an entertaining read...but not for the right reasons. I have all 3 systems, and I enjoy what each one brings, also each one has it's share of problems. As far as what I play more, these days I force myself to play PS3 because that is the system I have the least games for. But if a game comes out on all 3 sytems, I am sorry to say, I won't buy the Wii version, unless it's control system is just too unique. But I already knew when I bought my Wii, there will be weak 3rd party games and excellent 1st party games. I hope to get more out of the Wii, unfortunalty it seems AAA titles only comes once or twice a quarter.

...Weird. You'd think Dave Perry, of all people, would recognize the fact that Earthworm Jim is STILL one of the prettiest, best-animated games ever.

Wii is slowly raping 360 and playwagon3.

It's only a matter of time until microsoft and sony accept their defeat.

By summer 2008 it should be pretty obvious after each console has shown their big guns.

When a proper pool/billiards game is released for the Wii I think people will be very happy. I will be. I know a bunch of other people who will be as well, especially when the chip & beer holder comes out. Extra points if said pool game isn't filled with all kinds of cutesy crap and/or guy game style visuals.

He didn't say the wii won't last, just that once the other systems really get some cool games going, they will get some use too! Maybe - gasp - more use than the wii. Most hard-core gamers end up having several systems, you know.

I consider myself a somewhat rabid wii fan, and I did not find anything inflammatory in what he actually said.

He also said plenty of good stuff about the wii in the actual article, so go read it. (make sure you actually are reading the Disposable Media article... http://www.disposablemedia.co.uk/ )

I don't care about prettier games. Sure, it'd be nice, but it's not necessary.

Gameplay always takes priority over graphics. Always.
